Kasautii's rapist is upset

Karan Singh doesn't like the idea of his character being terminated

The villainies of Karan Singh, the rapist on Ekta Kapoor's Kasautii Zindagi Kay, will be coming to an end soon. The actor's track will be axed shortly.

"My character in the show is soon going to exit," says Singh, sadly. "Sharan's notoriety will be exposed to the others by Prerna and Mukti. Once it has been proved that it was I who raped Mukti, there will be no more scope for my character. I will be punished, either with a spell behind bars or by getting bumped off… I am really upset about going off the show so soon," he laments.

"It is always good to be part of a show that is watched by the thousands of people. Kasautii… is a popular show. I do wish the writers don't bump my character off," he adds. "At least, if he is sent to jail, there are chances that Sharan's track may be revived at some point in the future."

Does his fate on the show have anything to do with his producer Ekta Kapoor's on-going war with his girlfriend Barkha Bisht?

"I don't know," he says. "All I can tell you is that Ekta has been fairly good to me. There is no animosity between Ekta and me. And I don't see why Barkha's case should affect my equation with her. The problem is between Barkha and her. I just happen to be the man in Barkha's life…"

Karan may have to part ways with Sharan but there is something else in the pipeline for him. "I'm doing Balaji's Karbon Kopy for Star One," he reveals. "The show was delayed for some reason, but hopefully we're going to start shooting for it soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed."

Well unfortunately monkey boy, most of viewers want your track to be ended too...although, its sad that Karan will miss the show..I was watching Star Parivaar Awards and it seems the cast (esp. the younger,new-gen cast) get along really well, even "Mukti" and "Sharad" 😆 😆 😆

You know I've never understood this...
exactly WHAT was it that made Karan Singh take the role of Sharad. I mean, this character Sharad is soooo out and out evil that I -- and I love shaded, quasi-negative roles -- would shudder to even imagine myself playing.

What was the motivation? I wonder if he travels in public women on streets take out their anger on Sharad and the ridiculous rape track's frustration on poor Karan Singh.

I don't think he knew that the track would extend to him becoming a rapist. Maybe he knew that his character would turn evil, but its not like these actors are told every detail...these shows are so long, anything can happen and be changed according to trps or viewer reactions....so maybe that was it. I mean, he doesn't even know HOW Sharad is goingto make an exit, they only really get their scripts a few days in advance, so maybe he was given an overall description of the character.

If he did know, then, well, he did it because its a Balaji show and whatever your role, it will get you places (if you keep in Ekta's good books, of course!). Negative character or positive, it gives you a chance to display your talents and histrionics..and hey, they can't pay all that bad either...what better reason?
