Part 25
Jai woke up the next morning feeling as fresh as ever! He took a quick shower, got ready and came downstairs. He had a quick breakfast and headed to Bani's house to show her the address from the hospital. When he got to Bani's house, Mohan and Meera had gone out to get a few things for Meera and they stopped by the doctor's for a minute. Bani was eating breakfast and Jai came to see her. He rang the door bell and Bani answered it. She wasn't expecting Jai so early in the morning.
Bani:
Jai, you're here early! Come in... Jai:
Yeah...thanks... Bani:
Any reason for coming this early? Jai:
Well I came to give you this... He took out the envelope from his pocket and gave it to Bani. Bani opened it and it was the address on Rano and Ranveer. Right away, a smile came to her face! Jai saw how happy she became when she opened the envelope. It brought a smile to his face seeing how happy Bani was to see the address!
Bani:
Oh my God thank you so much Jai! You have no idea how much this means to me! Jai:
I can see how much it does! I'm happy I could help.
Bani:
I'm going to go today and see if I can find them!
Jai:
I'm going to come with you!
Bani:
No Jai really, I can manage! Besides, you have to go to theoffice! You haven't been there that often because of me, and I don't want your work to be effected because of me.
Jai:
Nonsense Bani! Helping you find your family is more important than office work. It's only for today anyways, so let me help you!
Bani:
But...
Jai:
Look, if we do find them, then you can some to my office and help me get caught up in the 2 days I wasn't here ok?
Bani giggled a bit. Jai was so cute and a stubborn person. She was happy that she has a friend like him in her life. Bani finished breakfast and they both got in Jai's car and wet to the address that was given by the hospital. It took them a while to find this place cause it was practically in the middle of no where. They couldn't find it after a long time and decided to take a break and have lunch. When they were having lunch, Jai asked the people around if they knew where it was and the person said it was a little outside the city. It was would take a while to get there so they finished eating quickly and went out again.
Jai:
Where is this place mars?
Bani:
Seems like it! It's gonna take us a long time to get there.
Jai:
I know! If you want we can continue tomorrow and you can be back late tonight.
Bani:
It's up to you...
Jai:
It's your sister and brother in law we're looking for!
Bani:
It's your car!
Jai:
Well I guess we're even!
Bani:
I guess we are!
Jai:
What do you want to do?
Bani:
I told you that it's up to you...
Jai:
Let's flip for it!
Bani:
What?!!
Jai:
Do we have another choice?
Bani:
Yes you can decide!
Jai:
Ok fine! We'll look for them and I'll drop you home a little late tonight! Ok?
Bani:
Ok!
They were driving and they had stopped a couple of times to ask people if they knew where the address was! It felt like Rano and Ranveer lived in another country at this point! It was impossible to find this place in a day if you didn't know what the hell you were doing! They finally drove into this small village and got out as the roads were too small for the car. They parked the car, and started walking around to see what they could find. They asked a lady that was walking on the road and she said that it was near the river.
Jai:
Thank God! We're actually getting somewhere!
Bani:
Thank you so much Aunty!
Woman:
no problem. I'm happy I could help.
Jai:
Do you know where the river is?
Woman:
It's at the other end of the village!
Jai:
What!!!!
Bani:
How long will it take us to get there?
Woman:
A couple of hours...
Jai:
What! Are you serious?!
Bani:
Jai!...Thank you for your help aunty...
Jai:
Bani it'll take us forever to find Rano and Ranveer at this point! Let's just come back tomorrow cause we'll never make it back home if we don't leave now.
Bani:
Jai we're so close to them I know it! Once we get to the river, and if we can't find the house, then we can leave and come back tomorrow, but I don't want to risk not finding them today when I had the chance.
Jai:
Ok Bani don't worry! We'll find them. Let's go!
They started walk towards the river as the lady told them to. It took them longer than expected since there were many obstacles such as whining, complaining, arguing, and talking way too many break and all this was done by the one and only Jai! He was about to collapse right there and then.
Bani:
Jai would you stop complaining!
Jai:
You try wearing dress shows and walk though a jungle! Let's see what happen to your feet!
Bani:
I'm wearing heals (small ones) so it's worse for me! If they break cause of the road or some rock, then I won't have any shoes at all let alone sore feet!
Jai rolled his eyes and just kept quiet cause he knew that Bani had a point! Walking in heals are much worse than walking in dress shoes. They finally reached the of it and were on the other side of the village. Bani told Jai to sit down and rest a little. She got water from the river and washed her hands. She was dying of thirst but it wasn't good to drink water from where you washed your hands from. After they had both rested a little, they started looking for the house. Jai and Bani's feet were dying cause of their shoes and they couldn't even get up! Bani just took her shoes off and held them in her hand.
Jai:
Bani what are you doing! Put your shoes on!
Bani:
Unlike you, I would like to go home with feet at the end of my legs! I'd rather walk bare foot than have no feet left at the end of the day! You can do what ever you want, but this is what I'm doing.
Jai thought Bani was crazy but she had a point! He was just being too stubborn to admit it, so he kept his shoes on like a well mannered man. They were walking around for a little bit, when Bani spotted a well in front of a house. She completely forgot about the house and ran to the well! She was dying of thrust at this point with no water in sight. She was thanking God for making a well here. Jai came and he also had a bit a of water.
When they were both done drinking the entire well of water, Bani realized that there was a house there. This might have been the house that they have been looking for this whole time. She went up to the house and saw that there was a light on in the house, so someone had t be home. She was praying that it was Rano, Ranveer, or both. She quickly went and knocked on the door. when nobody answered the door, she tried again. She had tried a few times, but no one was answering. Bani tried to open the door to see if it was open, but it was locked.
Jai:
Bani, I don't think that anyone is home.
Bani:
But why is the light on then?
Jai:
They might have gone out and forgot to turn it off.
Bani:
Yeah maybe...
Jai:
Let's just wait here for a little while and see if they come back or not. If not, then we can come back tomorrow cause it's getting kinda late now.
Bani:
Ok...
They went and sat down on a stone and waited. A few seconds after they sat down, the door opened. Bani and Jai stood up immediately to see who it was. An elderly lady had opened the door and came out a little bit to see who had knocked on her door in the late evening. She looked around and saw Jai and Bani together. Jai and Bani were also looking at her. Bani went up to her with Jai following her.
Preet:
Did you knock on my door?
Bani:
Yes aunty. We're sorry to disturb you so late, but it is urgent.
Preet:
No it's ok. I was praying, so I couldn't answer the door.
Bani:
I'm so sorry I disturbed your prayers.
Preet:
No problem. What can I do you for?
Bani:
Actually, I'm looking for my sister and her fianc. I got this address from a hospital, and I was wondering if this is the right place.
Bani showed Preet (the elderly lady) the address.
Preet:
Yes this is my house. Who are you looking for?
Bani:
My sister's name is Rano, and her fianc's name is Ranveer. Someone said that they lived here, so I was wondering if they are staying here with you or somewhere areound here?
Preet:
Are you by any chance Bani?
Bani:
Yes! Yes I am!
Preet:
So you are Rano's sister!
Bani:
Rano is staying here?!
Preet:
Yes and so is Ranveer.
Bani took a sigh of relief and thanked God for finally helping her find her sister at last.
Bani:
Thank God! Is she alright? Is she here?
Preet:
She isn't here now. I mean she still lives here, but she went out to look for you.
Bani:
What!
Preet:
What a coincidence! The day she goes out to search for you, is the same day you come to look for her.
Bani:
Do you know when she'll be back?
Preet:
She didn't say anything, but if you have your number, then when she does come back, I can tell her to call you.
Bani gave Preet her home number, and Jai gave his number just incase Bani wasn't home or something.
Bani:
Thank you so much aunty! You've really made my day. Are they alright?
Preet:
Why don't you two come in and we can talk.
Bani and Jai both went into Preet's house. Bani could tell that Rano was here. Some of her things were here.
Preet:
Have a seat. Make yourselves at home. I'm Preet by the way.
Bani:
I'm Bani, and this is my friend Jai.
Jai:
Hi, nice to meet you.
Preet:
Same here. Would you like anything?
Bani:
Oh no, we're fine thanks.
Preet just tidied up a bit to make some room for Jai and Bani too sit. They fianlly all sat down, and Preet told Bani how she met Rano and Ranveer.
Preet:
Well, I went to the hospital for my regular check ups, and one day I was going, and I saw Rano trying to help Ranveer to get him to a hospital. He was badly injured. I took them to the hospital, and I stayed there until Ranveer was ok. Rano only had a few scratches, but nothing serious. After Ranveer got discharged from the hospital, I took them to her house, but it was in bad condition. Windows were broken, things were lying everywhere. It wasn't a pretty sight.
Bani started getting flashbacks from that night. When Ranveer was trying to help get AD out of the house and he ended up going though that window. She started crying a little, and Jai consoled her while Preet went on to tell what happened.
Preet:
Rano looked everywhere for you, we couldn't find you. I told her to come with me and stay with me for the time being as Ranveer was in no condition to be up and moving around. She tried to look for you a lot, but she could never find you.
Bani was crying even more now. Her memories form that night, and hearing Rano and Ranveer's situation made it worse. Jai and Preet consoled Bani. Bani stopped crying and thanked Preet for all of her help. They talked a little bit more, but left after a while as it was getting late and they needed to walk back that huge path and get home.
Jai and Bani were walking on that big path. Jai finally took off his shoes and walked bare foot along with Bani. Bani was lost in her thoughts and was just walking not paying attention to where she was going. Jai could understand what she was going through, so he didn't say anything, but he helped her and guided her though out the whole walk to the car. They finally reached the car, and they drove home. Bani was getting a bit teary, but who could blame her. Jai dropped Bani home and helped her inside. Meera took Bani up to her room, and Jai filled Mohan in on what happened today. He was relieved that Rano was found, now all they needed to do is wait for her call. They would still search for her, but the main thing they were waiting for was the phone call.
Mohan thanked Jai for all of his help and the support he has given Bani through this whole thing. He didn't have to do all this, but he did and Mohan was very touched by this. Jai left and went home after a long day. He got home and took a nice long shower. After he got a foot massager for his nearly broken feet. He swore he would the next time he would go to Preet's house, he'd bring a bike! His feet were killing him! He could barely stand up, let alone walk.
The next morning everyone was sitting and talking with each other (minus Jai cause he couldn't get up for obvious reasons) about Anu and Tarun's wedding. They had gotten engaged, but they wanted the start planning their wedding.
Tarun:
Arre, we're not in a rush to get married.
Anu:
Yeah, we can wait.
Dadi:
Then when are oyu going to get married? When I get married?
Anu:
Dadi!?
Dadi:
What Dadi! If you both had it your way, you'd never get married and just stay engaged your whole life!
Anu:
I don't see what the problem is. Tarun and I will get married, but when it's the right time.
Tarun:
I think it's cause Tony got married, we're the only ones left in this house besides Jai bhai who will take ages to get married!
Pushkar:
I think that Tarun is right! Jai bhai will never get married! He wants the "right" girl, and all the girls who hang around him are all mindless wannabee's, according to him.
Purva:
We need a perfect girl for Jai bhai too!
Dadi:
Forget Jai! By the time he finds a girl, you'll have grand kids! Let's think about Anu and Tarun.
Mausi:
She's right! Atleast think about it. I mean pick a date alteast even if it's in a few months or so.
Tarun:
I don't mind getting married, but it's Anu who wants to wait.
Anu:
Thanks for opening your big mouth!
Pia:
Anu what's the problem?
Anu:
I actually don't know. I think that just the word marriage scares me.I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with him, but just the word scares me since there's a lot of responsibility that comes with it.
Pia:
Well it's not gonna be a lot of things for you to handle, cause it's only Tarun. His family lives in the US, so you don't really have anything to worry about.
Anu:
You know what Pia? You're right! I guess it's just an insecurity!
Tarun:
So are you ready to get married?
Anu:
Yes! Let's get married!
Mausi:
I'll call the pandit today and fix a date before she changes her mind!
Purva:
So you finally decided to get married! Congrats!
Dadi:
Uh Hello! This all happened because of me! Someone should at least thank me!
Everyone:
Thank you Dadi!
So everything was decided! Tarun and Anu were going to get married in 2 weeks. Everyone was getting ready for the wedding! Anu went shopping with Pia and Purva went with Tarun to get each other their wedding outfits selected and fitted. Everyone else at home was busy with phone calls and decorating. Mausi was sitting on the sofa picking things out for the wedding. Guli came and brought a cup of tea for Mausi.
Mausi:
Arre Guli, come, sit down! How are you? I haven't been able to talk to you much since you came here! Do you like it here?
Guli:
Very much. Everyone here is so nice and friendly.
Mausi:
So, does your family know that you got married or do you need to break the news to them like us?
Guli:
Umm...My parents died, and I only have my younger sister left.
Mausi:
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Where is your sister?
Guli:
She is studying in college but in another city, so I'm here alone.
Mausi: oh, when is she coming back? Does she have a place to live?
Guli:
She should be back in a few days. I don't know about her living arraignments, but I'll figure something out.
Mausi:
No need, she can stay here with us.
Guli:
Oh no it's ok! She can live where I used to live before I got married. It's not a problem.
Mausi:
I don't care. She's staying here no matter what!
A few days later, Guli's sister was coming back, so she went straight to the Walia Mansion as Guli told her. When she arrived, she was surprised that her sister Guli was living in such a big house. She brought her stuff and rang the doorbell. Guli opened the door and was really happy to see her sister after a long time.
