I am not a very sceptical person. But I really have my doubts about Prachi making it big in Bollywood (she has been signed for 'Rock On' with Farhan Akhtar). Her fame with television has been in the saas bahu genre (and 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'), which may not work in Bollywood as well.

I guess Prachi is a good actor but I really don't know to what extent she will be able to cater to Bollywood needs. She would need a serious image makeover as well if she has to progress from the saas bahu category to other diverse roles.

She seems to be just one of the many saas bahu faces that keep coming on television. The fact that she is so famous is simply because she's been a part of the tried and tested formula. I don't think she will be that successful in films. So many of Ektaa Kapoor's actors have branched out to make a film career but they've never been successful.

Prachi is a great actor and especially after 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa', she has proved that she is capable of much more than what we see of her on television. If she finds the right director and the right script, there's no stopping her.

So many actors have branched out from the Balaji camp to make it big in Bollywood that now it doesn't seem exciting at all. Most of them just use television as a stepping stone. I guess Prachi's acting career depends on the scripts she gets.

With Ektaa Kapoor on her side, I guess Prachi will have it really simple in Bollywood. And even if she doesn't, she will always have TV to come back to. She is pretty decent in acting though the litmus test will be when she is asked to essay different types of roles on the big screen.

We Say
We don't mean to be cynical but most TV stars who have succumbed to the seduction of the silver screen (including Amar Upadhyay and Nausheen Ali Sardar), have seemingly lost their little castle for a fantastical palace (which was never there). But Bollywood, which thrives on dreams, could well ring true Prachi's dreams too…exceptions co-exist with every rule.
