Prachi ready for films!

This dimpled lass was probably destined for stardom.

After all, how many teenagers are hand-picked by the TV production houses for their prime shows! But Prachi Desai bagged the lead role in Ekta Kapoor's daily soap when she was only 17. Quite a few episodes and a reality show later, she's been hand-picked again by young filmmaker Farhan Akhtar for his debut film as an actor. Needless to say, Prachi is over the moon, while she's secretly mooning over super stud John Abraham. NT catches up with the young lady, as she gets ready to pop the bubbly.

On her debut film: "I am excited about doing a film and that too with someone like Farhan Akhtar. When the call came from his production house, I just couldn't believe my luck. But now that such an opportunity has landed in my lap, I will make sure that I prove my worth in Farhan's film, which has a very contemporary theme."

Prachi has just signed her first film opposite none other than Farhan Akhktar himself. She is undoubtedly delighted with this unexpected break. She has Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and her mind-blowing choreographer Deepak to thank for.

Deepak has used his magical skills to metamorphose the girl who had never danced in her life into a dancing diva. Now that she has bagged a film role we hope she remembers to help him bag some film choreography offers too. Deepak hopes so too. But that is if stardom doesn't go to her 19 year-old head. Was it a starry attitude we saw on display already?

Though it's enormously hush-hush at the moment, here's the news on the biggest singing talent ready to burst on the music scene in 2008.

It's none other than director-turned-actor Farhan Akhtar who not only produces and stars in Rock On , he also sings as many as four songs in the film which features Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Luke Kenny and Farhan himself as members of a rock band.

Farhan went to the studio very recently to record four tracks, all solos composed by close friends and collaborators Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. This makes Farhan the only director in the world who's not just an actor but also a singer.

"What a trip," exclaimed Farhan. "I've been playing the guitar for ten years now. In my late teens and early 20s, I fantasised about being a rock star. This film gives me a chance to live out my fantasy. So when director Abhishek Kapoor told me I was to play a member of a rock band and I actually get to sing my own songs, I was quite kicked about it."

After reading this article I really dont think Prachi should quit Tv for bollywood because the story focuses on the male stars and not the females. Its an ensemble cast... I think her role will not give her sooo much scope to perform. I think her role will be as small as maybe sonali kulkarni's in dil chahta hai... I dont think she will be the focus of the movie. Therefore in my opinion she should definately do it but not bank on it making waves for her career. I think she should not quit KS for this for sure.

I agree with you popeye, Prachi should definitely not quit KS for this movie role. I don't know how she will be accepted on the big screen but she is definitely a star on TV and she has a great fan following who adore her. She will reach out to all her fans better via the TV rather than via an insignificant role in the movies. It may be too harsh and malicious out there in the Bollywood world for our sweet and young Prachi. Hope Ekta continues to give her support to Prachi whatever decision she may take. I have grown to be quite fond of her like all of you. Wish her good luck!
