Part 4

'Why me…' Bnai asked for the hundredth time since she first met the Walias!

Bani turned for the thousandth time that night. She just couldn't sleep. She didn't know what it was. She stared at her ceiling confused and her thoughts drifted back to the earlier in the evening when she had been left alone with Jai!

Jai had started wiping the ice cream off of her jeans. She had abruptly stood and forced him to stop.. 'It's OK.. I can manage it' and she walked to the kitchen to get some wipes or something to clean it with. Jai had followed.

'So.. what is it?' He had asked

'What..?' she replied confused

'I mean.. there must be a reason why you're so unfriendly..' Bani's cheeks coloured. Was it that obvois? She asked herself.

' was it something I did? Many years ago I insulted you or something?..' Bnai had looked confused at that. 'No .. I mean lots of times in serials the main character meets a new person and they hate him/her coz of something that happened in the past.'

'No..' Bnai mumbled. She didn't like this conversation.

'Then why do you hate me…?'

'I don't hate you'

'Well you don't; seem to like me either..'

'This guy was blunt' Bani thought.. no beating around the bush or anything.

'Um.. I don't like you or dislike you..' Bani stated.. it hasn't even been one whole day since we've met and I have yet to form an opinion about you..

'It doesn't take that long to from an opinion.. I've already formed one about you..'

'Oh really..?' Bani asked curious

'yep..' Jai nodded his head and moved closer to Bani… 'would you like to know?'

'NO!.. No.. it's ok! Just keep your thoughts to yourself..' Bani replied flustered.

'Keep my thoughts to myself? Are you sure?' He replied tongue –in-cheek. 'They're very interesting.. you sure you don't want to hear them?' He could see Bani getting a bit nervous! He loved it..

'Yes.. I'm sure …' And she made her way out of the kitchen and away from Jai Walia..

'This Jai Walia is really starting to get on my nerves. What does he thnk of himself' Bani thought angrily as she lay in bed. 'And his two kids… he doesn't say anything to them.. first the water.. then the ice cream…UGH!!!' Bani was frustrated and she didn't know what to do. She fell in to a disturbed sleep..

On the other hand Jai lay in is bed with a smile… Bani Dixit.. interesting character.. and his children had almost made her his sister! He smiled when he thought about what had happened a few hours earlier….

Just as Bani walked out of the kitchen.. she had met the twins. They were all cleaned up and in their pyjamas.

'aa..aaapp k..kahan jaa rahi ooo?' Jai suppressed a smile.. Arthva and Krishna could speak English well but when it came to Hindi they stuttered.

Bani seemed a little surprised to be asked that question. 'ghar'

'Kyun?' asked Krishna

'Um… soney.'

'Yahan kyon na.. nai soo rahi.. aa..aaap mera bed par soo sak ti hoon?? It was Arthva this time..

'Um.. nahi.. mujhey mera bed pasand hai..'

'Kyon?' Asked Krishna.

Jai could see Bani getting angry.. But he wans't going to help out. He wanted to see how she would handle the situation.. Asses her!

'Kyonki mera bed bara (big) hai!!' Bani said though clenched teeth.

'Papa ka bhi bada hai.. us..uspay sau jao..' Arthva stated innocently. For the first time in a long time they had met a woman who didn't shout at them and wasn't nasty to them .. they wanted to spend as much time as possible with her.

'Nahi.. abh mujhe jana hai… Good night' Bani could feel a headache beginning to form.. she had to get out of this mad house.

'Ok.. Good night bua…' Krishna said.

Jai choked on his water. WHAT? Bua? 'Beta.. why are you calling her bua?'

'Because like Jigyasa bua or pia bua.. she's our bua..'

'No.. No.. you can call her aunty.. not bua.. ok.. never bua…'

'Ok.. ' Krishna and Arthva didn't seem to mind.. Though he could see Bani's was trying hard not to laugh!

'bye.. Good night' and she was out of the door.. The children ran upstairs and he could hear Bani laughing as she entered her house.

Jai thought back.. Bua… well jigyasa was his sister.. so they had to call her bua. And Pia.. well she was annoying woman who couldn't take a hint and stay away so he had told his children to call her bua. She was shocked when she heard it for the first time. And as hard as she tried, the children never listened to her. Jai had taught them well! Jai found it very amusing, to watch Pia trying to make the kids understand but they never listened!

Jai then thought back to Bani.. she liked her definitely.. and she liked him.. well kind of. Ok.. she would learn to like him…. and the kids. He would make sure.

He had made her laugh!(with the whole bua thing) Women loved men who could make them laugh.. right..and that was the last thought that came to his mind before he drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
