"Pri, meri baat to shuno.." he pleaded but she wasn't listening. She made her way to upstairs completely ignoring him.
Damn woman! Puskar cursed under his breath. After the show down with Pia, Pri didn't give him a chance to explain and just went to the rounds. Now, he was standing in front of her house but she refused to hear him.
Only stupids fall in love. Puskar thought miserably, otherwise why would he spend the most of the hours of his birthday running after a woman who won't even listen to him.

The party was going on full swing. It was held in the terrace of Puskar's apartment. Jai was pleased to meet the old friends and circle, both their college gang and their friends living in the same apartment was invited and they were having a blast, after all they had so much to catch up. Jai was talking to two of his college friends, Riaz and Sabur when..
"Jai!" a voice exclaimed behind him. He turned and a grin appeared to his face, "Tanaeem? Hey buddy.." as the two friends shared a bear hug a girl stood there confused, "Jai? You mean our Jai? This?" she said.
"How many Jais do you know Missy?" Jai chuckled.
"Judging by her character, she might know many Jais." Said Tanaeem thoughtfully only to earn a punch from the girl. She diverted her attention to Jai, "You are Jai, seriously? I mean, where's your Chasma?"
Jai laughed out loud, "Chasma? What chasma?"
"I mean your chasma. Where are your glasses Jai? you were blind without them! Or have you put on contacts?" she came closer for a better view of his eyes.
"Oye, get of me, my fiancee won't love it if you are all over me." Jai said as she slightly pushed her away.
"you are engaged? And I thought you were going to marry me!" she complained.
"You were always in number one of my waiting list dear…" Jai grinned. She punched him, "where's your fiancee? I want to meet her."
"she's here right now, where she went.." Jai looked around the place and searched for Bani and found her talking with a girl, he called for her, "Bani, will you please come here Jaan?"
Tanaeem, the girl and two other boys with whom Jai was talking before whistled. Bani came and took his hand on her own as Jai dramatically said, "Here's my lovely fiancee, Bani."
"Bani!" the girl screamed.
"Tanu!" Bani also screamed.
"you two know each other?" Jai asked curiously.
Tanu looked stunned, "Off course I know her. After all, she's our Pri's best friend na? she used to come here lot?"
"Really?" this time Jai's eyes widened, "then why I have never met you here Bani?" he demanded.
"why should you meet me there?" Bani asked, a bit confused.
"Because I lived here as well….I was supposed to see you once in a while." He said.
Bani was shocked, "You lived here? Really?"
Tanaeem groaned, "Kya yaar…faltu bak bak….leave it. Let us get introduced to Bani, Bani, this is Tanaeem…"
"..the biggest jerk in the world…" Tanu added.
"That's why you are with me…" he said in a sing song voice and got slapped by Tanu playfully.
"But where's the birthday boy?" asked Riaz…"the cake looks good!"
Sabur groaned, "that's all you think about na, food? By the way, the cake really looks good! Where's Pushy?"
"Let me make a guess," Jai said, "he's out somewhere trying to woo some girl."
"Gee you are smart!" Riaz grinned.
"I'm smarter," Sabur said, "I know the girl's name."
"You know?" Tanaeem exclaimed, "How could you genius?"
"It was in my genes." Sabur bowed. Then he turned serious, "Actually, it's the talk of the town, Puskar Shukla in love…"
"Jai can tell us better about her, right Jai?" Riaz smirked.
" Me? Nah, I'm innocent." Jai also grinned.
As they kept this rattling, Bani realized for the first time that she never knew what the relation between Jai and Pri is.

"Why the hell are you standing here? Go to your damn party and enjoy with that devil." Pri exclaimed from the balcony to Puskar who took refugee in front of her house.
"I'm not going without you….come on…don't be this spoilt." He pleaded.
"Then don't go." She said moodily.
"Okay, so you want to celebrate my birthday all by yourself? Just you and me?" Puskar asked slyly.
"What! No! When did I say that?" Pri demanded.
"You are too shy to say this, that's why you are making this faade."
She remained quiet so he spoke again, "I know you heard the convo between me and that woman, you know that she was just throwing herself on me, otherwise your face would've been different. Now please come on…"
"I don't want to see her face and she'll be there." Pri scowled.
"Then wear a sunglass…"
"WHAT!?"
"No, I mean, there will be so many people, you don't have to see Her….don't be a spoilt sport, please lets' go."
She went inside and closed the door. Puskar heaved a sigh of relief. He knew her enough to know that she's probably getting ready now.
………
"Bani, come dance with me…." Puskar said and glared at Pri, "she's so much boring."
Pri made a face at him and went towards the drinks. During the whole party, Bani was disturbed….something wasn't alright….something definitely wasn't alright. After she heard Jai's friends' convo, she was damn sure that she's missing something, she's missing some information…..something really important. She heard them calling Jai as C or Sea….where have I heard that, where have I heard that….she wondered.
She didn't notice as Puskar dragged her to the dance floor as some crazy beat music was playing. She searched for Jai who was deep in conversation with Riaz and Sabur and Tanaeem. She forcefully diverted her attention and danced with Puskar.
……..
Pri was really tired and thirsty, the party was so hyped, she was glad that Pia didn't show up. She ordered an orange juice and watched Bani and Puskar dancing. Her gaze went on Jai, talking with Riaz and Sabur…..it seems like the old time was back.
She unmindfully took the drink and took a sip. And then put it back on the table and looked at the other side, not looking anyone in particular…….she was so lost in herself that she didn't notice someone changing the glass of her drink.
She gasped as the DJ started playing a song, which was very dear to her.

She smiled sadly and looked at Jai, seems like that her friend didn't get enough time to hear her secret. He's long gone…..long gone…Bani was right..she's been clinging to a ghost…..this doesn't mean anything, nothing. She's to do either of the two, just go and confess to him and bear the consiquences or just forget him…there's no point loving him from a distance, is there now?

She finished the drink and wiped her tears.

Pia disposed the original glass of orange juice in the dust bin and also the bottle labeled "Highly poisonous and dangerous, handle in care"
