'In times of profound change, the learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.'
— Eric Hoffer
With the second one, I might offend a few of my very good friends but it has to be said.
'The soft-minded man always fears change. He feels security in the status quo, and he has an almost morbid fear of the new. For him, the greatest pain is the pain of a new idea.'
— Martin Luther King
We are (myself included) great fans of JB - we feel insecure about any change happening and any one coming to destroy our happiness. We are almost like children who want to interfere when parents are arguing in order to bring them together.
Personally when I first joined KS forum, there were some cliques (groups that were close knit and not open) that were already formed. They had been there since the forum started. I used to feel a bit funny when I wouldn't get a response from the groups when I stated my opinions on their posts. I persisted in a friendly manner and finally things changed - I made friends and for the most part remained non-controversial even when I started stating my preferences of JB and what not!
My point is the RR fans are new kids on the block and they are feeling left out, given the cold shoulder to. Obviously they have their opinions about wanting their favorite actor to be with the main lead of the show. They have strong feelings towards the man like we do. So it's ok to let people say what they want - on the other hand, being a new kid on the block makes you vulnerable, especially if you are a bully and agressive. Unless you are in a gang, you will obviously lose the fight. So being less in numbers, the new comers need to tread carefully in the new terrain.
If you were in a party and an RR fan comes to you and you are an RK fan, you will not be rude to them. But the net manners are like road manners, you don't know the person, so you feel it's OK to be rude, like cutting off some one on the road or raising your middle finger - that's called road rage. Now that's what we are doing to each other on the forum right now.
BTW:I am not trying to be a goody two shoes here (even if I am a great BW fan) I just wanted to say that let's play nicely together!
The major conflict here is BW/DDG - whose fave toy is she going to be? Let the creatives decide it and let's watch how it pans out!!
Could we start a friendship pairing thing? (OK, guys!! I can see some of you going 🤢 Now be nice!! I can see you rolling your eyes!!)
The game goes like this - an ardent JW fan reaches out to an ardent AD fan or vice versa and they make a pair. So I start my first overture to an AD fan - who wants to be my friend?
