Jai Waila's Fatal Attraction
An analysis from the context of story and character progression.
Five years later Pia, Jai Walia's one time bride to be, his SIL, his rapist, his
wife's "murderer", one of his debatable parentage child's mother is still at
the Walia Mansion, and has acquired as Rano puts it hesiat and izzat and
all she ever wanted in life. Jai Walia's Fatal Attraction.
The real Dhandhewali right under his roof.
So, how did it get to this point in time?
Let's start from the beginning.
First of all Jai Walia and his attraction towards women... He seems to have
gone after the type A personalities in his life—Roshni, Sonali, and Pia—
His sister Jigyasa belongs to that group also… He was attracted to women
who knew what they wanted, they were
beautiful from the outside, and were go getters…they looked good on his
arm and were social in nature, well, in the party socialite scene at least.
There is nothing wrong in that, it's the world he belonged to.
Pia—Pia according to me is one of the vainest characters ever. She can be
characterized as an abuser. Abusers are generally very needy and
controlling; the abuse escalates when they feel they may lose their
partner,-their object of affection or when the relationship ends. From the
beginning she was shown as selfish and vain, (these characteristics just
got more obvious as the character progressed). The word, Vanity, which
derives from the word vain, is the excessive belief in one's attractiveness
to others. It is one of the seven deadly sins in Christianity.
It's her vanity that leads to her self absorption and her self obsession. It
is this one characteristic that leads her to covet the things in life that are
not hers but she thinks she deserves them because she is worth it. Her
looks are worth it and she deserves it because she is beautiful…she is
truly vain….this vanity in her breeds negative emotions like reed, envy
and obsession. She is obsessive about the things she desires and will go
to any lengths to get them as we have witnessed what she did to Bani. I
have always mentioned that this character will go into Bani Killer Mode
and she did. Pia was never going to let
Bani come out of the MA (going by her character progression) She would
have made sure that her sister died in there before stepping out after the
5year period. (And Jai Walia in his prayer to God stated that he is unable
to help Bani and only God can send someone to save her) This obsessive
behavior can indeed be classified as psychotic, she is a dangerous enemy
of Bani—there can be no redemption for this character ever because she
is aware of what she has done has no remorse over her actions—As she is
shown in the current track without remorse than she cannot be redeemed
at all...all she is good for is going to the loony bin—most vain, self
obsessed characters in drama have tendency to go mad—or die. Its better
that they die… Go into a MA or DIE---maybe that will be her end.
Now Jai Walia had said to Pia he loved her, wanted to marry her and
proposed marriage to her and even when Bani was married to him, he had
said to Pia that "Pyar tune kiya, Shaadi Usne"—powerful words for an
obsessive woman's ears (despite the circumstances under which these
words were spoken, they were spoken and that cannot be denied). Pia left
no stone unturned to get her personal property Mr. Walia. She has never
seen her own sister, Bani, as Mrs. Walia—she has always seen herself as
Mrs. Walia. And regarded Jai Walia as her personal property. To her, Jai
Walia is hers and hers only. For one mistake that she made of running
away from her own marriage, which she has never been able to overcome,
she wants what she considers to be hers and hers only. Recently her tone
has changed to one of love for him but she has been consistent in that –
in Dubai she said she loved him and currently she says she loves him—
that is one thing consistent in her. She says that she gave up everything
for his love even her sister. Her obsessive love for him has turned her into
a monster. She needs to see a therapist badly. She needs help. Pia
will always be there in front of Mr. Walia not as a protective shield but as
a no entry barrier. So, Pia is Jai Walia's fatal attraction that he can do
nothing about. She took away his beloved wife, his sanity, his self, his
identity, his everything, yet he is unable to overcome her.
A good question to perhaps ask here to the creatives of this male
character would be what is the reason behind JW to be cremated
in this way by having him be with this monster, his fatal attraction...
Is it the nature of the attraction???
---Over this past five years, he never had the inclination or thought of
trying to get the full custody of his children. (He could have hired a
private detective and shown the court her gambling, drinking alcohol,
prove her to be an unfit mother. but that has not happened in this past
five years. If anything happens to him tomorrow how is his children's
future secure…he is a father now –how are Bani's children going to be
treated by their own mother's enemy, murderer? Jai Walia has not thought
about that yet?
---It never occurred to him to try to investigate Sahil's murder case by
hiring private detectives and trying to find the real culprit. At least for
Bani's sake, bring shanti to Bani's atma.
Finally, it is fair to conclude that
this is an abusive relationship, the problem here is that the victim is
unable to free himself from the grasp of the abuser. In all abusive
relationships this is a common pattern that the victim accepts the abuse
because
they see no way out. However, the way out can only manifest if the victim
becomes aware of what the abuser is doing. Awareness is a very
important issue, the recognition of the abuse, it's the first step and then
comes the desire to free oneself out of this abusive situation…sometimes
with drastic consequences…like the victim will finally kill the abuser….
In order for the JB equation to progress in the future, the JP equation
has to be completely annihilated first and foremost….Pia has to be
obliterated from Kasam Se
well even now he is using her help to get to AD….so
much for hatred he has…….. Finally after reading all this and writing
more……. We can safely come to a conclusion that final nail on the coffin
of the character of JW was nailed today………….kudos to creatives for
being a pea brain………..We hope they continue the saga in this JP way
which will help us lose our addiction………………………………….
