Chapter 9:
"Jai! Jai utho na! Wake up!!!" whined Bani, pulling pushing and tugging a heavy, sleeping Jai. He mumbled and rolled over, pulling the covers over him once more, grumbling something or the other about women.
She tried once more, holding on to his muscular arms, she tried tugging him upwards, but instead, Jai held on to her and pulled her back on the bed next to him. He sniffed her hair, "smells really good Bani" he said. She noted his eyes were still closed, and he was smiling brightly.
"Yes, I got up about half an hour now, had a nice warm bath in the tub, and now I want to eat, if you vould just get up" she told him, trying to peel his eyelids apart.
"Baniiiii!! You went for a shower without me?" he asked, a naughty grin spreading on his face. Bani couldn't help but laugh.
"Well, the early bird gets the worm…you should know that" she replied, trying to release herself from his powerful grip.
"You would try and fail to move you know…you can't move unless I want you to" he said, chuckling at her futile attempts.
"Well…whatever…can I at least get to go make breakfast?" she pleaded.
"Why? Are you…hungry?" he asked, peeping at her, smiling mischievously.
Bani thought a bit before replying. Turning and facing him, she whispered in his ear, rather seductively, "Starving"
That did the trick! His eyes shot open wide, a broad, pleased grin on his face. Bani squaled, hit him with her pillow and race out of the room, screaming "GET DRESSED MR WALIA!!!! I want foooodddd"
Jai ruffled his hair, and laughed. He was still very tired. Wrapping his towel around his waist (ya, that's all he's wearing :D) he went to the room door, and opened it a crack. He saw Bani busy preparing something, smiling to herself.
"Bani…do I really need to get dressed? I mean…you don't exactly wear clothes you know…when…" and he broke off into deep laughter when Bani raised her head, watching him with a mock angry face. He headed for the bathroom before his crazy wife started chasing him with her belan.

About 20 minutes after, he came out in slacks and an armless white tee, hair wet looking adorable. Bani looked up as she saw him approaching. She felt him come behind her and place his hands on her hips, and she stopped cutting the vegetables in front of her.
"Looking good" he said. She smiled, and leaned back on him, as he put his hands around her, hugging her and resting his head on her shoulder.
"Oh! Not you! The food!" he smirked, making her nudge him hard in the ribs with her elbow.
"OUCH! Bani! That hurts!" he whined, but she just "humph-ed" and went back to cutting her vegetables.
"So…do you want to go skiing today? Or…would you rather…" he asked, winking at her and flicking his head towards the bedroom.
"Aaaah! Is that all on your mind?" She asked, smiling besides herself.
"Uh huh! That's exactly why I brought you here!" he grinned boyishly, nodding and munching on a carrot stick.
"Hahaha! Nice save"
"So…what do you want to do?"
She rest down the knife, and walked over to him. Taking her index finger, she traced his lips, down his neck, across his chest down to the waist band in his slacks. Poor Jai was getting hot and excited, and it was definitely showing.
Holding on to his waistband, Bani pulled him closer to her, bit her bottom lip "Jai…I want"
Gulping, "You want?"
"I want to"
"You want to what?"
"I want to…FINISH COOKING DUMMY…now gimme a break!" she said, taking her other hand and smacking the back of his head, squealing and laughing at his confused, jumbled expression and returning to her veggies.
"Ahhh! Baniiii…don't play like that!" he sighed.
"Sorrry!"
"No…now I'll make you pay!" he said, a devilish glint in his eyes…one she knew too well.
"Ahh! No! Jai! I'm warning you! I'm serious Jai! Jai! Jai! Put me down!! AHHHHH!" she screamed as he scooped her up in his arms, turned off the gas and headed for their bedroom, closing the door shut behind him.

"I need food" Bani whined a couple of hours later.
"Bani! Is food the only thing on your mind?" complained Jai, cuddling up next to her under the covers.
"Pretty much" she replied, a cheeky smile on her face.
"Well…should I give you something else to think about?" he smirked, tucking a bit of loose hair behind her ear.
"Jai! No! Stop…there's only so much a woman can take in a day!" she warned, turning around to face him.
"What?!" he asked innocently, "I was talking bout a good movie or a book or something…I dunno what goes on in that head of yours"
"Uff! Whatever" she groaned, blushing all the same.
"You know Bani?" he asked.
"Hmm what?"
"You never read the note on the rose"
"Oh yea!...where is it?" she asked, lifting her head a little to scan the room for the rose…no such luck!
"I dunno…maybe it got lost last night…or just now maybe…but…has to be here somewhere!" Jai said, sitting up and scanning the room. Finally he noticed the stem of it wedged between the closet and dresser. He wondered how it reached there, and went for it. Finally, he handed it over to Bani, and left the room so she could read without the tension of him being there.
(Sorry guys….didnt know what the heck to put here….so bare with the lameness ok)
"Hi baby…hopefully this bechari rose isn't crushed by the time you get this" This makes Bani laugh because the rose was indeed squished up after its journey to the cupboard.
"About your worries…I really am sorry you had to suffer with Roshni and the loss of our child, but believe me Bani, I would do all I can to give you back your baby, everything in my will power *wink*" which makes Bani laugh through the tears that had developed in her lids.
"I hope you aren't crying now! I think you've got a good idea of how well I keep my promises, but, I just want you to know, it's not impossible for you to become a mother, and the time and day will come when God will grant us our baby. I love you Bani.

The by now had manage to glide down her face silently, and as she looked up, she saw him there, leaning against the door, looking at her intently. Heaving a sob, she got up and ran to him and hugged him tightly, "I love you too Jai". He kissed her forehead, and wiped the lingering tear drops from her cheeks.
"Listen, Bani…we need to talk…seriously talk…about this…I mean…I can't bare to see you crying silently… lord alone knows how I handled the situation…I can barely begin to understand how you must have felt as the mother….but I would like you to talk to me Bani….we might have talked before…but I am sure there was always stuff being hidden and pushed back…." He said, resting his forehead on hers, looking at her, as she nodded silently.
"Lekin Jai…lunch nahin… let's talk right here…" Bani voiced. He nodded and led her out in into the living room area. He sat down on the couch and pulled her onto his lap, draping his hands around her and she rest her head back on his chest. They stayed that way for a while, relaxing in each other's arms, and then Bani started to tell Jai about her emotional turmoil, what she went through when she came across him and Roshni…the pain she went through at the loss of her first child…the happiness she felt knowing he was trying to do everything possible for her to be happy…yet still irritated that he had never really tried to talk to her when she had really needed him most…. Then Jai apologized for just trying to get her mind of the problems materialistically and he should have known better, but she also did not share her inner grief with him…and he too suffered the loss of his first child…. They shared tears of pain, her hands resting on her stomach, his hands on top of hers as they remembered their first unborn.
Finally Bani understood God's reason for doing this. Despite being "happily married", Jai and Bani still lacked that sort of communication…despite loving and living for each other, they lacked communication. If this was God's way, then so be it, because nothing brought two people together better than the
Power of a Child.

No...this is not the end, lol! the title just happened to fit in at the end! I have one more part! and thennnn this journey would come to an end!
