Sorry for the delay guys - i think yesterdays episode caused me writer's block!! 😭
PART 13
Bani smiles as Jai takes her hand and leads her towards his car. He is taking her home, where she belongs, by his side….. finally.
The entire way home Bani leans on her husband's shoulder and sleeps peacefully. The events of the last two days seemed to have taken their toll on her and to feel her husbands arm around her was the most comforting place to sleep that anyone could ever ask for. Jai looked down at his sleeping wife, unable to believe his fortune. After everything that had happened he felt like the luckiest guy in the world to have Bani back in his arms. He could finally forget his past and look towards his future…..
He turns onto his driveway and stops the car. He looks down at her again and doesn't want to wake her up. He is so tempted to just reach down and kiss her. He strokes her cheek with his hand and she stirs. Her eyes flicker open and meet his. She stares into them for a few seconds before getting up, blushing.
Bani: Ghar aagaya? Aapne bataaya nahin…?
Jai: Tumhe neend se jagaane ka dil nahin kiya. Ji chahta tha ke tumhe jagaaye bina hi uthake andar le chalu lekin….
Bani: Lekin..?
Jai: Tumhaara vazan uthaake itni door me kaise chalajaata?!!?!! 😆
He laughs at the child-like indignance on her face and catches her wrist as she turns away from him to get out of the car .
Jai: Bani…. I love you.
Her annoyance forgotten she blushes.
Bani: Andar chalte hai… sab intezaar kar rahe honge.
They go inside the house to be greeted at the door by Dadi and Aditya who are ecstatic to see Bani and rush to hug her straightaway. Jigs is nowhere to be seen but Ranveer is present. He keeps back though, not quite able to meet her eyes.. Bani goes to speak to him.
Bani: Ranveer? Kaise ho?
Ranveer: Theek hu Bani… mami. Uh… aap… theek hai?
Bani: Main theek hu. Jigyaasa auntie kahin dikhay nahin de rahi he?
Ranveer: Woh… usse kissise milne jaana tha… unhe…
Bani: Koi baat nahin, mein unse baad me mil loongi.
Jai and Dadi glance at each other, knowing full well why Jigs wasn't here.
A few days pass by and things begin to return to normal. Bani's presence in Walia Mansion is like a breath of fresh air and everyone seems happy she is back… well… almost everyone!!
A little while after her arrival Jigs had come to see her. Bani had been expecting the usual acidic remarks, but instead she got a reaction which left her very confused!! Jigs had said she was sorry for trying to brand her a thief and have her thrown out of the house, and that she had actually been upset at the news that Bani had died having left here!
But in the same breath she had also said that she would never forget what these sisters had done to her brother and her house, and just because she didn't feel the need to insult her anymore, that did not mean she was now Bani's new best friend!
Jigs: Maine hamesha apne bhai ki khushi chaahi hai. If at the moment woh aapke saath khush hai toh main bhi aapko accept karne ke liye taiyyar hoon. Lekin yeh kabhi mat bhooliyega ke mere liye mera parivaar, mera khandaan aur uski izzat sabse badhkar hai. Agar aap ke vajah se inpe kabhi koi aanch bhi aayi, to Jigyaasa ye bhool jaayegi ke aap meri bhai ki patni hai.
Bani had smiled at her and noted that however Jigyaasa might treat her and her sisters, it was obvious how much she loved her family – her way of showing it was just… unique…?!
It had been 3 days since that little episode, but Bani still felt as confused as ever when she thought about it! Today though, she had no time to stop and think!!
Bani: Tony!! Tony!! Jaldi karo, sahaab ka naashta taiyyar hua ke nahin?!!
Tony: Yes ma'am mein abhi laaya.
Bani: Kya kar rahe ho tum Tony?! Kitni der ho chuki hai! Jaldi se naashta table pe lagaa do, mein unhe bula ke laati hoon.
She runs upstairs to check whether Jai is ready for work or not.
Her heart flips as she thinks about him. Since she has returned to the house they have been tiptoeing around each other, almost as if that emotional confession of love a little while ago had not taken place.
Maybe it was because she had not answered him when he had said he loved her. Or maybe he was regretting something…. but he seemed worried all the time. Their conversations were comfortable, friendly and polite, but nothing more. Perhaps it would take him a little time to adjust in their new relationship…. Whatever it was she was willing to wait. All that mattered was that she loved him.
Their bedroom door is slightly ajar and as she approaches it she hears Jai talking on the phone.
Jai: No, I'm sorry I can't do that….. I don't care what the excuses are…. Agar usse sab kuch pata chalgaya to…. Just sort it out will you!!!
He starts to walk towards the door and Bani moves backwards, pretending she is just coming upstairs. They walk into each other as Jai turns the corner. She falls backwards and he catches her by the waist. They slowly straighten up, she blushes and tries to move away but her long hair is stuck in his coat button!
"Tujhe dekh dekh sona… tujhe dekh kar he jagna… maine yeh zindagi sang tere bitaani… tujme basi he meri jaan hai…jiya dhadak dhadak jaaye……"
Jai: Oh… wait.. ruko Bani wait… baal tootjayenge…
He slowly untangles her hair from his button, oblivious to the fact that his wife is more interested in him than her hair!! He smiles at her while tucking her hair back behind her ear and then heads downstairs. Bani is left standing there, her heartbeat racing from being so close to him, yet an unsettling feeling remains that something is not quite right…..
She comes back downstairs and sits down for breakfast.
Jai: Oh Bani, me tumhe bataane hi bhulgaya!! Mujhe urgently teen din ke liye out of town jaana hai. Germany mein meri ek conference hai jiske liye jaana bahut zaroori hai. Tum ek kaam karna, tum please mera samaan pack karke paanch baje airport aajana, me wahi se nikaljaonga.
Bani's face falls on hearing this. Tomorrow is her birthday – and it seemed her own husband had forgotten that!!!!
Bani: Ji… me sab taiyyar rakhoongi.
Jai's phone rings and he gets up from the table to answer it. Bani starts to clear the dishes away and takes them into the kitchen. As she is walking back to the dining table she hears a furious whisper-
Jai: What do you mean tum nahin aasakogi?!! Itni saari planning ke baad maine tumse baat ki thi, tickets sab book ho chuke hai or ab tum….. arre tum Bani ki kyun fikar kar rahi ho unhe kaise pata chalega?!! Maine unhe yahi bataaye hai ke meri teen din ki conference hai Germany main…. Ok ok fine….
Bani doesn't wait to hear anymore. What she had just heard she could only interpret in one way, but doing so caused her unimaginable pain. She felt worse than she had before she had left Walia House a few days ago – at least then she hadn't been under any illusion that her husband loved her as much as she loved him….
