PART 14:
Jai and bani are sitting in the car and are leaving the party...
"Mr Walia...I am ok really...woh..i ..Uncle.."
"I know bani" he said to her quietly.
"Kya?..then why are we...?"
"Because....we have some very important work..."
"Work?...what work?"
Jai just looked at her and gave her a reassuring smile...then he bent towards her and whispered in her ear..."Trust me.." before kissing the side of her neck
Bani just looked at him...Of course she trusted him...but today has been a really weird day...her nerves have been on edge ever since she woke up...now what was he planning...

They reached Walia mansion and Jai took Bani's hand and led her towards their bedroom...
Bani looked towards the door to the kitchen...
"But Mr Walia...we haven't eaten yet...i'm hungry...just a little..?"
Jai paused on the stairs and turned to look at her before bursting out laughing....
"Bani...even i am hungry...but in a different way 😉 don't worry this won't take long"
Bani's heart began to beat faster with every step they took towards the bedroom...
"What won't take long? what is he going to do? he is hungry in a different way? what does he mean?" Bani asked herself...

The reached the bedroom door...jai looked at bani and asked her to close her eyes...
She did as he asked but warily...

Jai led bani into the room...
she opened her eyes slowly....
all around the room lay rose petals and candles...in the middle was a small table that had been set....
"Bani would you join me for a candle light dinner?" he asked her softly while leading her towards her chair...
He poured them champagne...then told her to eat as she was complaining of hunger just a few minutes ago....
However, the sight of the room and the tingling of her nerves made bani forget about her hunger...they just stared at each other...then jai got up and came round to Bani and asked her to dance with him....
He played the CD player...the song "Hum dil de chuke sanam" came on....
He took bani into his arms but a lot closer than at the party and began to dance slowly with her....
at the end of the song, he took bani's hand and bent down on one knee...
"Mr Wali..yeh aap...?"
"Let me bani...i have been wanting to say this to you for a while but didn't know how and didn't undestand my feelings....i have never felt this way before in my life...i realise now that what i thought that i had felt for pia was nothing but some silly middle-age infatuation...and pia running out of my life was the best thing to ever have happened to me...because that meant you entered it...bani...there are lots of things that i need to apologise to you for...but most importantly...there are a lot of things i need to thank you for..."
"Mr Walia..you don't.."
"shhh bani...but today i am not going to do that...today i want to declare that i am in love with you bani...i don't know when and how it happened but when you were in hospital...it made me realise that i didn't ever want you to leave me...i don't know what i would do if you had gone....i felt that a part of me was going...and then when you woke up on top of me to day...i just knew that thats where you belong...you are mine bani....i know i promised you your freedom with divorce...but please don't leave me bani...please say that you will be my wife in the real sense from today onwards..."
suddenly it all made sense to bani....the red saree, the red bindi...leaving the party...the candlelit dinner...Jai was in love with her!..he was proposing marriage in the real sense...her dreams were coming true...
she looked into his eyes....and hers filled with tears of joy...
"Oh bani...i didn't want to hurt you again...i am sorry..i uh..."
She put her fingers in front of his mouth..."No Mr Walia, these are tears of joy...i have waited a very long time to hear these words...i have been in love with you for a long time...that night...it meant something to me...but....yes mr walia...i want to be your wife..."
Jai jumped up pulled bani into his arms...
"Bani you don't know how happy you have made me..."
