Bani goes red remembering that incident and just fumbles something.
Jai realizes he is exposing his feelings blabbering too much and just shuts up.
Later Bani leaves. Aditya comes to jais office with some official work.
Aditya (knows that bani had come) : ye lo jai, is file ko check kar lo, waise jai tumne lunch karliya?
Jai: (checking the file): haan bani ayi thi usi ke saath kiya
Aditya: acha bani ayi thi, to kaisa raha lunch
Jai: kya matlab, achha tha
Aditya: jai kya tum ab bhi kaho ge ki bani se tumhe nafrat hai
Jai: aditya yeh kaisa sawaal hai. Tum jante ho me usse nafrat nahi karta, kaise kar sakta hoon mein usse nafrat (Realizing what he said) aditya yeh file theek hai, I have signed it
Aditya (hinting) : theek hai jai, mein file forward kar deta hoon, waise bhi hume deri nahi karni chahiya, waqt kisi ka bhi intezaar nahi karta…chalta hoon
Jai is left pondering…..
The following day is a party at the Chaddas' place. As is expected, they have also invited their would be Samdhis. The Walias have arrived. As soon as Mr. Chadda greets them, he takes Jai and Aditya along with him for a personal introduction to his friends. Jai, dressed in black, gives a sideward glance to Bani as he leaves. Anu leaves with Rohit to where their common friends have made a group. Rano who is already bored is being entertained by Sahil.
Sahil: Rano tumne wo movie dekhi, Kal Ho Na Ho?
Rano: nahi dekhi! kyun??
Sahil: pata hai usme Preity Zenta bilkul tumhari tarah chasmish hoti hai and bohot padti hai!
Rano: Sahil tumne kehna kya chahte ho?
Sahil: puri baat to suno, phir use pyaar ho jata hai, aur wo bilkul badal jati hai. Saif se use pyaar ho jata hai akhir mein...waise mein bhi Saif ki tarah dikhta hoon na? kya khayal hai?
Rano: SAhil ek baat kahu? mujhe Saif bohot pasand hai, PAR MUJHE SHAHRUKH AUR ZYADA PASAND HAI!
Rano walks away leaving Sahil laughing at the way she is playing games with him...
Dadi, Masi and Jigs have left to join their age-groups respectively! Bani looking pretty in an
Off-white sari is standing by herself when
Person: Hi!!
Bani (startled) : Sameer ji aap! Hi,
Sameer: kya hua, aap chauk kyu gayi
Bani: nahi wo aap peechhe se aye, to mein dar gayi
Sameer: achha. Par aap yaha akeli kyu thehri hai
Bani: mein kisi ko janti nahi
Sameer: mujhe to janti hai na! to bataiye, aap kya lenge
The waiter is passing by, with drinks in his tray
Bani: nahi I don't drink
Sameer: aap ko pata hai, I don't drink either. College mein hi maine resolve kiya tha ki I wont touch drinks
Bani: achha! Wow
They are too involved in their simple conversation but someone from the other side of the hall is constantly noticing every move they are making and is more than curious to know what conversation they are having. Back to Bani
Sameer: to aapki hobbies kya hai, what do you do in your free time
Bani: I really love to read, usually mein read karti hoon. Aur mujhe khana pakana bhi achha lagta hai.
Sameer: arre wow! We are so similar! Reading is my favorite hobby too! I don't cook, but I love to eat!
Both laugh at this
Jai: Mr. Chadda, excuse me, mein abhi aya
Mr. Chadda: arre Mr. Walia ek min, aap dono to abhi Mr.Sharma se hi nahi mile
Jai clenches his fist as he stays back.
Bani: toh Sameerji
Sameer: bani ji aap mujhe yeh 'ji' mat kahiye, sirf Sameer achha rahega
Bani: theek har, par you too have to stop calling me Bani ji, Bani will be just fine
Sameer: deal!
Bani: kya baat hai Sameer, aap hamesha entrance ki taraf kyu dekh rahe hai, waiting for someone?
Sameer: Bani actually mujhe kisi ka intezaar hai, aapse bhi milaunga
Just then Jai and Aditya return to where Bani is standing. Jai had hardly been listening to what Mr. Chadda had to say. Just then Jigs joins them as well
Aditya: arre wah kya baat hai, jigyasa meine to notice hi nahi kiya ki hum dono same color pehne hue hai!
Jigs gives him a fake smile
Aditya: aur wo to dekho, waha Rano and Sahil dono dark blue pehne hue hai, kya lag rahe hai na
Jigs just stomps off in total displeasure.
Aditya: aur yeh dekho meine ap dono ko to notice hi nahi kya! Bani aur Sameer tum dono bhi white mein! Sab kitna match kar rahe hai! Aaj kya coincidence ho gaya.
Jai (unable to control his irritation) Aditya yeh kya bachpana hai
Sameer: ignoring Jai, Aditya uncle mein Bani ko yahi keh raha tha, haina Bani
Bani just smiles
Jai thinking: Baniji se Bani. Yeh to bewakoof hai, par Bani ko kya hua
Jai out loud, with sarcasm dripping: waise matching colors bohot boring ho jate hai. Complimentary colors look better together, don't you think so Mr. Sameer? More like how black and white go together. Isnt it??
And Jai goes and stands next to Bani. Just then Mr. and Mrs. Chadda join them
Mrs. Chadda: I hope you all are enjoying the party.
Jai: ofcourse ofcourse, lekin mujhe lagta hai ki Sameer ji bohot akela mehsoos kar rahe hai. Waise inki shadi ka kuch hua?
Sameer (playing along as he has noticed Jai's jealousy): Mr. Walia meine apna life partner chun liya hai, Anu ko shadi ho jaye, phir hum bhi shadi karne wale hai
Aditya: wow beta, that was fast. Humse kab milaoge?
Sameer: uncle wo isi party mein hai, abhi usse hi baat kar raha tha
Jai has lost it now: tumhari himmat kais-
Bani has a worried look on her face
As Sameer cuts jai: mera matlab mein phone par baat kar raha tha
Aditya as jai regains his composure: Jai tumhe kya ho gaya
Jai trying to sound all cool: mein wo, wo mein keh raha tha ki sameer ki himmat kaise hui ab tak itni khushi ki baat chupaane ki.. hehe
Jai lets out a nervous laugh, as everyone is embarrassed at his behaviour, just then
Sameer: yeh lo aagayi meri would-be life partner.
A girl enters the party and walks straight to sameer. Sameer then introduces her to everyone pleasing Jai to no end. Sudddenly Jai switches into his calm and civil self surprising everyone, and amusing Bani.
Its 6 days to the marriage.
The next day, Jai after getting ready, is walking towards the staircase. As he is crossing Jigyasa's room, he happens to hear her conversation with Ranveer
Jigs: Ranveet beta ek bar Anu ki shadi ho jaye, phir kisi bhi tarah hame maasi ko bhi chandigarh bhejna hoga. Waise mein chahti to hoon ki maasi aur din rahe, par jab tak maasi yaha hai, Bani bhi nahi jaane wale. I cant stand her face. Uski wajah se itni humiliation jhelni padi mujhe
Ranveer: ji ma, aap sahi keh rahi hai
Jigs: Agar Bani na hoti, to mein Anu par aur dhyan de pati, aur aaj yeh sab na hota. We did so much to get rid of her. We even trapped her in the 70 lakh money fraud but she did not budge from this house!
Jai is rooted to the spot in shock. He cannot believe his ears! He cannot believe his sister was capable of this! He cannot believe he derided Bani for no fault of hers. He takes a step to Jigyasa's room but stops himself.
Jai (thinking): I am disgusted with you jigyasa for causing me to be so nasty to Bani! Jigyasa ko confront karne ka koi matlab nahi, mujhe sab bani se hi clear karna hoga. Maafi mangni hogi…
As Jai goes downstairs, he sees Bani and Maasi having a light conversation. As jai takes a seat at the dining table, Bani, and Masi join him along with the others
After some time,
Masi: Munna tujhe batana hi bhool gayi. Maine kal Aditya se kehkar, apni Chandigarh ki ticket book karvali. Anu ke Shaadi ke doosre din, mein nikal rahi hoon.
Jai. Who has been eating, suddenly stops realizing what Masi just said.
Jai:Masi aap itni jaldi kaise ja sakti hai…aap aap kahin nahi ja rahi..
Masi: beta, waha par bhi sab chahte hi ki mein wapas aa jau. Unko bhi to meri zarurat hai. Waise bhi mein ek mahine se zyada reh chuki hoon. Tu fikar mat kar, teri maasi hamesha ke liye kahi nahi ja rahi, kuch mahino ke baad tujhse milne phir se aaongi.
Bani too stops eating and looks at jai, whereas Jigyasa and Ranveer connot contain their happiness.
Jai with a desperate longing: Masi phir bhi….
Masi: dekh beta maine soch liya hai, yaha bahut rehliya
Jai abruptly gets up to leave, leaving his breakfast unfinished. Quickly says bye and exits the door.
At his office:
Jai: mujhe Bani se baat karni hi hogi, aaj hi.
He remembers aditya's words: jai waqt kisi ka intezaar nahi karta
Jai thinking: I cant lose her. I am so used to her. I need you Bani. I cant imagine my life without you. Bani….. I Love you, tumhe mein kho nahi sakta
At home in the JB room:
Bani has been crying ever since she left the dining table.
Bani thinking: Maasi ja rahi hai, sirf 5 dino mein. Mr. Walia mein kaise jau is ghar se. Aapke bagair kaise rahoo. I love you…par aapse kehne ki himmat kabhi nahi kar sakungi. Kis hak se kahu, I really don't have any rights over you, par mujhe kabhi kabhi kyun lagta hai ki shayad aap bhi mujhse….
At the office:
There is a soothing effect on his agitated mind as he utters the 3 precious words to himself. He is unable to concentrate on anything at work today. This confession to himself has made him excited despite its calming effect.
In their room:
A smile appears on her face at this thought, but her tears wont stop. She will have to leave…,she thinks
Sahil has started driving Rano back home since the past few days and Rano too seems to have almost stopped refusing his advances.
Sahil: Rano ab to hamara last year bhi khatam hone ko aya. Tumne kya socha hai iske aage?
Rano: isme sochne wali kya baat hai. Ofcourse mein masters karne wali hoon. Tum bhi na
Sahil: nahi rano, mera matlab tumhare career se nahi tumhari personal life se tha, kya socha hai
Rano, getting conscious: mein nahi janti
Sahil: par mein janta hoon ki mujhe kya chahiye
Rano: kya chahiye
Sahil: mujhe koi pasand hai, aur mein jawab ka intezaar kar raha hoo
Rano, getting jealous: matlab tumne pooch liya usse
Sahil: mere khayal se to maine pooch liya
Rano (sahil when did u ask me, maybe he like someone else): gadi roko, sahil gadi roko!!
Sahil: kya hua kya hua
Rano: mujhe yahi utarna hai!
Sahil: abhi to tumhara mood achha tha kya hua, waise bhi hum ghar pohonch gaye hai almost
Rano just turns her already swollen face!
Sahil drives into the driveway. As Rano and Sahil are getting down, Jigs watches them from her room window and immediately rushes down to the door.
Jigs: tumhe maine kitni baar kaha hai ki Sahil se door raho! Tum behno ko samajh nahi ata
Sahil: mom please, I insisted that she come with me..
Jigs: just shut up Sahil. Got it? Don't interfere
Jigs to Rano: listen Rano, Sahil ke aas paas bhi nazar ayi, tum bohot bura hoga, uske gadi mein bethna to door, usse baat karne ki koshish bhi nahi karna
Rano just runs to her room, falls on her bed, and starts crying.
Rano: why did I feel so bad, I always fight with him and talk to him so rudely…but why shouldn't I, afterall I do love him…ofcourse, I don't want him to know what I feel, because I don't know for sure what he feels, and I cant go against Bani didis expectations…..
Astonished at her own admission, Rano falls asleep, crying because her dream may never come true.
Sharp at 5, he leaves his office, astonishing his employees who have known their workaholic boss to leave the office only after all the work has been completed for the day. Today nothing mattered to him, except that one agenda on his mind. Confession. He had held his heart closed too long. And he was happy. He was happy, because in some corner of his heart, he had a feeling that Bani too loved him.
After leaving his office, Jai makes a stop at a mall. He goes to gift's store and buys a tiny frame. Just the right size. Yes, just the right size for the Polaroid picture of him and Bani, that he has been carrying with him everyday. He leaves with the framed photo, and proceeds to the diamond store in the same mall. Not just any diamond store, it was the best in Mumbai. He spends 2 hours looking for the perfect solitaire diamond ring for his perfect wife. Which one would suit her delicate hand?? What a mess he had created at the store, looking at every ring available. Finally, he finds it! One huge diamond, to symbolize their togetherness….
The whole day Bani has been in her room. Crying incessantly. Finally she gets a grip over herself. She fixes her appearance, straightens her clothes, and leaves to Rano's room to find some comfort in her sister. But with every passing moment, the hope in her has only been getting stronger. Something in her is telling her that they wont have to part. Something in her has been telling her that he too wants her as much as she does….Now, in control and in hope, she goes …
Bani comes to Rano's room, Rano wakes up and they start chatting. Suddenly Rano starts talking maturely and seriously, much to Bani's amazement
Rano: didi pyaar sach mein bohot powerful hota hai na
Bani: rano tum….pyaar
Rano: didi jab aapko pyaar na mile to bohot takleef hoti hogi na
Jai has reached home and is passing by Ranos room to go talk to Bani. He realizes Bani is here and cannot resist his urge to listen
Rano continues: didi ab mein samajh sakti hoon ki apko kaisa laga hoga jab aap ko pata chala ki pushkar pia ko pasand karta hai. Aap bhi to puskar se pyaar
Bano, slightly irritated : Rano tum yeh sab kyu bol rahi ho. Pushkar se mera…
Jai is hit with the greatest shock as he takes a step backward. Everything suddenly seems so unreal to him! All his dreams shattered by one sentence! With the ring in one hand and the frame in other, he walks to his study, in daze…how can life be so cruel…….just when I found my happiness…
Bani continues: Pushkar se mera koi rishta tha hi nahi. Who sirf mera dost tha aur mein dosti ko kuch aur samajh bethi. Tum janti ho mein sab bhool chuki ho, kyu purani baatein nikal rahi ho. Ab meri nayi zindagi hai,, Rano………………mein Mr. Walia se pyaar karne lagi hoon………wo meri zindagi hai
A Huge SORRY for the delay! hope you all enjoyed this part! this part was quite on the high-voltage emotions/drama side! will be wrapping this fanfic by this weekend, most probably sunday.
