As is the rule with all Ekta Kapoor serials, I am sure this one will also have at least 1000 character who have nothing much to contribute to the story, but as of now I am listing down the prominent player's of Kasamh Se with a brief character sketch, so that all the newbies are clued on!
Story in a Nutshell - Apparently derived from Louisa May Alcott's immortal story of a family facing life's ups and downs, this serial shows the trials and tribulations of three sister's who fight financial deprivation and emotional insecurity after being orphaned and end up living in the shadow of an immensely wealthy and powerful man. The serial charters the course of Bani, the eldest sister, for whom love and duty falls first, Pia, the middle sister, for whom money & ambition beckons and Rano, the youngest one, who wants to fight against and win over her destiny. Despite being completely different from one another, the three sisters are bound in an inexplicable bond of sisterhood and togetherness. How the three sister's find what they want without losing what they already have forms the core of this latest presentation by Balaji Telefilms. The show timings are Monday to Friday 9 Pm on Zee Tv. The repeat telecast is shown at 11:30 Pm at night, and 12:30 Pm in the noon everyday. You can also catch all the episodes of the past week between 5 till 7 Pm every Sunday.
Main Characters -
Walia's - An old and prominent business family of proverbial wealth and power, based in Mumbai.
Jai Walia (Played by Ram Kapoor) - The heir and scion of the Walia Empire, a man of immense reputation, respected and awed by everyone around. 40 years old is a no-nonsense, tough person externally, but is actually very kind-hearted and understanding. Is a bachelor but involved in a sort of relationship with a reputed actress and everyone speculates and expects him to marry her very soon.
Jigyasa Walia (Played by Ashwini Kaleskar)- Jai's 39 year old younger sister who is divorced from her husband and is living in her brother's house, along with her 3 childeren. Is a high-society snob and a cold-hearted person, for whom money and power is the only motive in life.
Aditya (Played by Jatin)- Jigyasa's ex-husband and Jai's oldest and best friend along side being his business partner, lives in the Walia House. Complete opposite of his ex-wife, is a warm, funny and good-natured person, spreading cheer in everyone's life.
Ranveer Walia (Played by Siddharth)- Aditya and Jigyasa's eldest son, he is the mirror image of his Mother, is very aloof and cold by appearance and hates Bani. Around 23 years of age.
Sahil Walia - Aditya and Jigyasa's younger son, a spoilt brat who just belives in wiling his time dancing and partying and taking unnecessry advantage of his Uncle's name. Around 18 years of age.
Anu Walia - Aditya and Jigyasa's daughter, qutie an air-head but good-natured and sweet! Around 17 yeas of age.
Pushkar (Played by Naman Shaw)- The orphaned son of Jai Walia's old business associate, unofficially adopted by Jai and groomed into his business. Stays with his family comprising of his Mother, elder brother and sister-in law who are very close knit and loving. Is a complete flirt but also a golden-hearted person, who will go out of way to help his friends at any given point in time. Is brilliant in his work and much loved and cherished by Jai. Is best friend's with Bani and falls madly in love with Pia.
Dikshit's - A lower-middle class but loving and close-knit family staying in Mount Abu. Mr. Nishikant Dikshit and his wife Kiran have died leaving their three daughters a mortgaged house and a letter addressed to Jai Walia (who is an old acquaintance of Kiran Dikshit) requesting him to help out the three sister's.
Bani Dikshit (Played by Prachi Desai)- The eldest of the three sister's, the Ideal Indian girl, soft-spoken, emotional, loving, responsible and mature. The perfect combination of strength and vulnerabilty. Is secretly in love with Pushkar but knows that her sister and Pushkar are in love. Is 23 years old and works for Jai's Company in a senior position. Is admired and respected by Jai a lot and greatly cherished by both her sisters. Jigyasa and Ranveer are the only people who hate her.
Pia Dikshit (Payed by Roshini Chopra)- The middle sister, fun-loving, carefree and ambitious, yet deeply affectionate and caring towards her sisters. For Pia, love means nothing and money is everything, she is one who will throttle her emotions for money anytime, except when it comes to her sister's, for whom her love is unmatched and selfless. Falls in love with Pushkar but accepts Jai's offer of marriage because of his wealth and status and gets engaged to him, much against the wishes of Bani. Pia is around 20 years of age.
Rano Dikshit (Played by Arunima Sharma)- The youngest of the sister's, moody, withdrawn and sulky most of the time, but pampered and loved by them, nevertheless. Is very attached to Bani, but never express's her feelings. Is around 18 years old.
Others -
Sonali (Played by Amita Chandekar)- A big time actress, who has come a long way in her career and is known for her glamarous looks and quality work in the industry. Is romantically involved with Jai and looks forward to marrying him very soon. A very mature and stable person, who is deeply caring and loving towards Jai, knowing that he only sees her as a friend and not as a lover, still harbours a hope of marrying him one day. Sonali is in her early thirties.
Aditya's Mother (Played by Sudha Shivpuri)- An old Punjabi lady who revels in making fun of her irritated ex-daughter-in-law, seems to be a very funny and cool character.
Mohan Khandelwal (Played by Kamal Sadhana)- A business tycoon and an old time associate & friend of Jai Walia, a magnanimous person; a clean & positive character who will fall in love with Bani. Mohan is around 28 years of age and has been married three times, his last wife has died and he has a 6 year old daughter. Mohan is attracted towards Bani and proposes her for marriage, but she refuses him, which he accepts very gracefully.
