Yaar, reading so much about ths chicken pox is making me paranoid. haven't gotten the pox yet and don't plan on either. 😕😆 Kamy, this update was just soooooo sweet! I love how you showed the change in Pia and Saahil. It's very touching how they are all now like a perfect family, with the exception of jigyasa of course. but really, do we need jigyasa?😛😆 I see you are slowly bringing in the JB angle. I like how Jai is noticing the littlest things about her and is starting to view her in a different light than he did before. This story is just awesome. One of my favorites. 😳 Please continue soon!😃

Chapter13

Krishna couldn't watch her brother life falling apart. She decided to talk to him and Jigyasa.

She called her up and found out the place she was staying. Taking a cab she went to meet Jigyasa.

Jigyasa was not in her good mood when she visited her. she had pain in her leg. For past days the pain was increasing and she had decided to consult a doctor. She had hired a nurse to look after her. She was unable to do anything herself. The plaster was still on. Everything was getting on her nerves and she was not ready for any kind of bhashan.

She had forced a smile as Krishna walked in to her apartment.

'How are you doing Jigyasa?' asked Krishna.

'Not bad…'

Krishan noticed the edge in her voice. She ignored it looked around the house. The medicines were kept on the night stand and the room looked fine. She was on the bed. She yelled for her nurse to get tea for Krishna.

'Not now Jigyasa later, I am here to talk to you…'

Jigyasa's eye brows rose. 'Di, if you have come to talk about me going back to that house then the answer is no… I need that girl out of the house. I'll not step in unless she is out.. '

'Jigyasa, what has she done to you? She takes good care of the house.. and your children all of them had chicken pox if it was not for her your children would have been in trouble. Who could have taken cvare of them Adi who needs to be taken care of or you? Who is not in any positons to..'

Jigyasa cut her short, 'my condition is because of her di…' she ground her teeth. 'di you don't understand. She has ruined my life I won't forgive her never she took my husband away from me…'

Krishna looked at her shocked. 'what in god's name are you talking Jigyasa?'

'Adi is.. well.. ' she stopped not wanting to say anything more.

'I know my brother Jigyasa he is not the type to go after a small girl and..'

'You don't know your brother di..; smirked Jigyasa. If she was not important for him why the hell is he keeping her in the house, is she more important than his wife even after I threatened him to leave the house. He doesn't care for me enough… ithna zid kyon.. iska kya mathlab hein di…'

Krishna knew there was no point in talking to her. but she too wanted to know why was he keeping the girl in his house threatening his marital life? What has gotten to her brother? Spending little time with her she left the house. She went directly to Aditya's house. Bani opened the door. Krishna had seen her before but she had never looked at her closely. Bani smiled at her. Krishna walked in and asked for Aditya.

'He will be in any moment.' She said. 'aap betiyein..' she said politely. Krishna ignored her and went to look for Pia and Sahil. Bani looked at her climb the stairs.

She went to make tea for her in the kitchen. She took the cup of tea and walked to the room she heard voices.

She knocked and went in with the tray. Krishna noticed sahil's face light up as he saw her enter his room.

She took the tea and studied the girl. She asked about her whereabouts. Bani replied her politely. she asked about her parents and Bani told her she was brought up in an orphanage.

'how did Aditya find you Bani?'

'I don't know …' she told her the truth.

She gave her the cup Bani was at the door Pia walked in to the room. 'Bua, when did you come?' she looked at Bani leaving with the cup said, 'Bani di I too need tea when you make one for papa..'

Krishan was surprised to see Pia interact with her. when she had come to stay with her Pia only had bad things to talk about her. she heard Sahil order tea for him. bani left the room and Krishna turned her attention to her niece and nephew. They looked fine. the rashes were almost gone. They looked happy too.

Bani saw Aditya walk in from his office. She informed him about Krishna Walia's visit.

'Where's di?' he asked.

'she is upstairs with sahil and Pia.'

'where's Anu?'

She just came from school taking bath..'

He nodded and went to his room. He heard his children talking to his sister on his way. He went and freshened up and went to Sahil's room.

Krishna got up from the chair as she saw him.

'kabh ayein app di?'

Kuch dere pehle… how was your day Adi..'

'fine…' he knew this was not a casual visit.

'come down stairs ….. do you want tea di?'

'No, I just had…'

'Okay..'

Adi left the room. Krishna, Pia and Sahil followed him. the tea was ready when they got to the living room. Pi and Sahil took their tea and left them alone. They knew bua's visit was not casual.

Krishan watched as her brother sat down to have his tea. Aditya saw her looking at him he smiled and said, 'come out with it Di, this visit is not casual I know…'

She nodded. 'I have been to Jigyasa's new flat.'

Aditya frowned.

'she is alone there with a nurse. She is not well this should be the time when a family should be together…' she looked at her brother's face.

'yes, who is stopping her to come here.'

'You are stopping her Aditya..' Krishan had to try hard to control her voice.

'I never told her not to step in this house..'

'You do know she doesn't want the girl staying here.. who is she Aditya? a servant, a mere servant you are distressing Jigyasa with your persistence … you are..'

'Di.. please.. the obstinacy you are talking about .. she is stubborn di, Jigyasa is stubborn she doesn't like Bani what is the reason for her dislike? Is there any reasons for her dislikes... if she says she doesn't like something or someone then that becomes a decree. She doesn't care if it's reasonable or unreasonable. I had enough.. enough di I have been pushed too far. It's high time she comes around..' he almost choked with anger.

Krishan knew more or less about Jigyasa's charcter but her brother was becoming too impossible these days..

'mere bahi… but in this case.. its different can't you send her away.. your children are growing up they need their mother..'

Jigyasa should know that better.'

Krishna shook her head in frustration. 'ladki ko jane do adi.. Jigyasa will come home…'

Aditya looked at his sister thoughtfully and shook his head. 'I am sorry di, bani will not go anywhere…'

Krishna's eyes widened. Why not Adi? What relation do you have with her?'

'di please you don't get into all this….'

'Adi. I am sorry bhai but I need to know you are frightening me…. Who is she and where does she stand in your life?'

'Di.. please… let the subject go..'

'No Adi I need to know.. Why I even fear Jigyasa could be right somewhere…'

A scowl appeared on his face. 'she is my daughter ….' He said staring at his sister.

Krishna sat dumbfounded. Shaking her head in denial.. 'No, it can't be. Tell me its not true.' she wet her dried lips and looked at him.

'I am sorry di.. I told you to leave it.. I …'

'Kaise Adi? Who is her mother?' Krishna Walia almost choked as she asked him the question.

'it was not an affair di.. it just happened..'

'where is she?' she asked almost in a whisper.

'she is no more… I learnt it very late… what do you expect me to do throw her out.. Where? On the street? knowingly or unknowingly she is mine … I am sorry…' Aditya couldn't understand him at all. He could have told her the truth but he did not instead he made it all his fault..

Krishna Walia couldn't speak for a long moment. 'what do we do?' Jigyasa…

'I can't help it.. she is like one of my other children I'll not push her out of the house…'

Krishna Walia got up from the settee. She did not know what to tell him what to do he had dropped a bomb. In her wildest dream did she imagine something like this would happen.

'I don't know what o sayt Aditya.. you have disappointed me… I did not expect this from my brother.. abh kya hoga bagwan! She walked to the door.

'di.. I'll drop you home..'

'It's okay … I'll leave… she walked to the door and turned. Aditya knew instantly she was looking for Bani. he called Bani… Bani wiped her hands and walked towards them. she looked at the woman who stood and stared at her. Krishna took few steps towards her and looked her in the eyes. she touched her cheek then turned and left.

Bani looked at Aditya. He shrugged his shoulders.

When Jai returned from his office he saw his mother lost in her own world. He walked to her and touched her arm. She was snapped from her thoughts. 'Jai…'

'What happened ma? You were lost in thoughts..'

Krishna Walia managed a smile. Without answering him she went to the kitchen t get him his tea. Jai followed her keeping his case on the settee.

'what happened ma?'

'nothing Jai..'

'oh come on ma… kya problem hein..'

'kuch nahin..' she snapped.

'Okay baba jab mann ho tho batha dena…' he left her in the kitchen.

A while later she walked in with his tea she kept the cup on the table and looked at him. Then she thought against it. How can she even begin she thought? Jai adored his uncle, how will she tell him Adi had fathered a child out of wedlock? What will he think about her brother? Jai watched her face as it flashed numerous expressions.

'Ma agar aap ko kuch kahna hein then come out with it.' he said exasperated.

'I don't know Jai how to tell you this, your mamu…'

What happened to mamu?' he took the tea cup and reached to his mouth.

'I don't know beta if this right .. but I can't seem to get over the fact that.. that girl Bani is your mamu's daughter…'

Jai choked and the tea spilled on the carpet..

'thumhein dakka laga hein beta…' she asked with woeful eyes..' muje bhi..'

Bani is mamu's daughter? Where did ma get such information? He thought. 'ma who told you this nonsense?' he asked finally.

'your mamu told me. If it was someone else I wouldn't have believed but..'

Mamu, what have you done thought Jai sadly.. what does he do now. Bani is not his sister and he doesn't have any inclination to adopt her as one never.

Krishna Walia looked at her son and thought sadly, she had broken the trust her son had in mamu he looked upset.

'MA tell me the whole story why did he tell you Bani is his daughter?' he asked finishing his tea . he held her hand and made her sit on the bed.

Bani felt weary. She had been working without rest for past couple of weeks. it was taking toll on her health. In the morning she couldn't get up from her bed. She almost fell back as she tried to get up. She lie down for a while and got up wearily. She made tea took to her people. She kept Aditya's tea on the bed side table she heard the shower running. She went to Sahil's room knocked and walked in. he lifted his head up from the quilt.

'good morning..' she wished him.

'morning to you too..' she kept the cup and turned to Pia's room. Pia was fast asleep. She had to knock on the door repeatedly. Few moments later she heard her groggily calling out to her. She wished her put the cup on the bed side table and looked at Pia who had gone under the cover.

'get up sleepy head..' she pulled the cover.

'hm…'

'come down for breakfast okay..'

'hm..'

Bani left her and went to the kitchen. She was too tired to go and make breakfast immediately. She took her tea cup and sat down on the breakfast table in the kitchen….

Aditya walked with the news paper looking for Bani. there were no sounds coming from the kitchen. She usually would come and ask him what he wanted before making anything for him. he had not seen her. He went looking for her in the kitchen and was surprised to see her asleep resting her head on the table. He looked at her for a moment and walked towards her and put his hand on her head. He pulled back his hand as it burned. He touched her again and called her. 'bani…..'

Bani snapped opened her eyes and hurriedly got up. 'Papa.. I am so sorry… I …'

Aditya looked at her affectionately. 'Come on beta.. leave the work.. you are not feeling well…'

'I am fine… give me five minutes I'll..'

Bani… leave the kitchen and go to your room' he ordered. Bani did not leave he took her hand in his and ushered her out of the kitchen.

Aditya ordered his children to take care of themselves and don't trouble Bani as she was not feeling well. He spoke to Bani about consulting a doctor. She refused. No amount of cajoling could do the work. She did not go to the doctor. Finally Aditya gave up.

Pia and Sahil were getting better. Sahil came down and looked on Bani…

Bani heard the footsteps near the door she looked up from the bed and saw him. she straightened and sat up.

'you .. are you feeling okay.'

She nodded with a smile.

'you are sure you don't want to go to the doctor?' he asked. She nodded again. he stood there for a moment and turned back saying ..'take rest..'

Bani smiled. He was shedding his inhibitions around her. Though Anu and Pia to an extent were forthcoming, He was little aloof but she knew he would change and for good.

Aditya had mentioned to Jai that Bani was not feeling well. He wanted to go and see her but had no idea how to. There was nothing to discuss with his mamu as he had spent the whole of afternoon with him. he couldn't curb the urge to go and see her. on his way back he picked up his mobile and dialed Aditya's number praying Bani to pick up the call. The bell went on and on and finally was picked up. To his disappointment he heard Anu.

'heloo…'

'Oh Anu sorry girl the call was not supposed to be there..' he said.

'Oh..okay then bhai I'll keep the phone…' she was about to disconnect he asked, ;by the way Anu I heard Bani is not feeling well..'

'Han Bhai.. she not well…'

Jai did not know what to tell her then he asked, 'Is she okay now?'

'Bhai.. I .. one minute.. Bani di…' he heard her shout for Bani. a smile appeared on his face.

He heard the sound of the receiver falling and then picking up.. and a moemtn later he heard a soft sound. 'Ji…'

'Hi Bani.. it's me Jai..'

'Ji…' he felt her hesitation.

'How are you feeling Bani?'

'I am fine..'

'Did you go the doctor?' he knew she did not, Aditya had mentioned that too. But he wanted to speak to her. he wanted to hear the soothing sound.

'I am fine Jai sir..Aditya sir is not here..I'll tell him you called..'

'No..' he almost shouted. 'I did not call mamu Bani..' he admitted finally cursing him for not able to take the conversation further.

Bani frowned from the other end. She fell quiet.

'I called to see if you are doing fine..'

Bani stood holding the receiver. This was not a casual call she felt. Did this call have any meaning she was failing to understand? If then that was wrong.. she prayed to god that was figment of her imagination. She prayed to God this did not mean anything. This was a casual call that had no meaning whatsoever.

Jai heard her slow breath. He understood her dilemma. He understood her. They held the phone silently for a moment and then he spoke, "take rest Bani.'
