First let me apologize for not updating for so long…I was busy with the holidays…

Aditya, can we do that?? Are we going to be able to finish up all this work from home?
Haan…I think we should be able to do that but maybe Pushkar can go into the office to pick the documents that we need….
So it was decided that they would work right out the study for the day…
Chapter 16
Bani went up to Masi later after breakfast….
Masi I want to go back to work too…Maine bohot din kaam miss kiya hai...Can I go back to work?
Bani…beta ghar pe itne kaam hai…kyu jaana chahati ho?? Tum aise karo…jake Munna se puch lo…agar woh ha keheta hai to….
Woh Masi aap baat karte to??.....
Nahi beta…teri baat to tujhe hi karni hogi…arre ab woh tera pati hai…

Bani went upstairs to their bedroom to cleanup, when she noticed a note and a box laying on her pillow…
The note read…
Bani,
Did not give you this wedding gift that I had bought for you yesterday…please accept it…
Jai
Bani picked up and opened the box…there were two beautiful kangaans in the box…
She hesitated not sure whether she should accept them….so thinking she put them on her dresser and went about cleaning the room......
Her clothes had to be still move into this room…she hesitated...still not sure if she wanted to do that…..but after last night…she blushed thinking of last night…she did not think that she had any choice…any other alternative….
Her morning was spent in arranging the things in the cupboards…she figured if she had to take his clothes out she may as well arrange it in a manner where she is able to find everything….
Soon she heard Masi calling everybody for lunch…Bani rushed down to help with setting the table…once lunch was done Masi reminded Jai about visiting the temple…
Haan Masi mujhe yaad hai….thoda sa araam kar le…phir nikalenge…
So saying Jai headed towards his bedroom…he hesitantly walked upstairs not looking directly in Bani's direction…
Bani hung around after cleaning with the younger kids….chatting with them…until she yawned and Masi asked her to go upstairs and lie down for sometime before going to the temple…
Not to happy, Bani walked up the stairs to the bedroom… As soon as she entered she saw Mr. Walia lying on the bed…she hesitated...but then resolutely walked in…she walked over to the bed…to grab a pillow so that she could lie on the sofa…
When she heard Mr. Walia say…itni dair kyu laga di…
She stiffened herself as she started to pull her hand away from the pillow…Ji who mai sab ke saath bethi thi…gappe mar rahe the sab to…
Mr. Walia put his hand out to hold her hand and said….baitho… so saying pulled her down…
She had no choice…so sat down…
Kangan ache lage??
Ji….said Bani nodding her head reluctantly…
Jai had not released her hand but was caressing it…
She stilled her hand, trying not to pull it away…she felt herself blushing and her heart too was beating hard and fast…was it loud too??… could he hear it??….could he see her anguish??...
She was trying hard to hold her breath….slowing it down, her eyes downcast…
To phir Mandir jate waqt pehenogi na??....
He felt her hesitate but then she said…Ji…sochungi…maybe…
Taking a deep breath, Bani decided to talk to him…
Mr. Walia woh mujhe aapse kuch baat karni hai…
Haan bolo…bolo Bani….
Ji woh…ji who….mai…
Haan Bani bolo na…..
Ji woh mai…mujhe phirse kaam shuru karna tha…Masi se puchha tha maine…to unhone kaha ke mei apse puch lu…is liye….Can I please go back to work?? I have already missed so many days….
Are you sure you want to go back, Bani? Will you be able to handle both the house and work…you do realize that Masi is going to put some responsibilities of the house on you, don't you?
Ji main janti hui…I am sure I will be able to handle both…if and when I feel I can't I will… no but I am absolutely sure that I will have no problems…
Ok to teek hai…said Mr. Walia…abh mera gift??
Ji???...What do you mean??? Woh…umm…I have not left the house so I did not…I was not able to buy anything....
Na Bani no excuses allowed….but that is ok…I know what I want for my gift…I will claim it now…so saying Jai pulled her towards him…
She fell on his chest…hiding her face…her breathing out of control again…
He lifted her head holding her trembling body in his arms…
Bani hesitated for a moment before trying to pull away from him…he would not let her go…chuckling….
Mr. Walia…please chodiye na…woh koi aah jayega…aur mujhe sona hai…I am tired…
Ok to so jao na…after I collect my dues…smiled Jai.
He captured her lips in a kiss and held her in his arms so that she could not escape…
Then turning her around and tucking her in to his body, holding her lightly….whispered to her…
Hmmm…ab so jao….
Her heart beating hard, Bani did not think that she could fall asleep…
But in a little while she felt Mr. Walia shaking her awake…
Bani chalo utho…Mandir jana hai...
Bani woke up with a start…so she did fall asleep…
Waking up, she took her clothes out of the cupboard and quickly changed into a beautiful red chiffon saree…
Jai watched her with hooded eyes as she got ready; pulling her hair in a bun which Jain promptly pulled the pins out off…
Leave your hair open…it looks beautiful and I like it better that way…
She put her jewelry, her bangles on….
Jai had finished dressing too …
Turning around….he asked if she was ready to leave
Bani nodded and both of them walked out of the room…

Masi had the pooja thali ready for Bani…
Handing it to her she said….
Chalo abh jaldi karo… Mandir mei ho ke aao…
Haan didi hurry back….we are all going to the beach after you guys come back….said Pia…
Jai and Bani walked out of the house to go to the Mandir…
Opening the car door he seated Bani and then got into the car drove towards the mandir…
He turned the radio to dispel the silence in the car to a beautiful song…

Reaching the mandir, Bani handed the pooja thali to the pandit and closed her eyes and started praying folding her hands together.
Jai then noticed that she was not wearing the kangans….a little upset….he decided to ask her afterwards…
Finishing the pooja…Jai took the thali back from the pandit and turning around started walking away…not saying a word to Bani…
Bani figured that he was upset and even knew what he was upset about…but decided to ignore him…
She knew he would question her when in the car….
When she came down from the mandir, he had opened the door for her…
While she went to sit he asked her….Kangan kyu nahi pehene…
Her head down she replied…Ji..woh mein…
Then putting her head up defiantly, looking in to his eyes she replied…Ji mein bhul gayi…
Her posture and her look clearly showing that she deliberately and intentionally forgotten to wear the Kangans…
Bani felt that she could control such small incidents, incidents were she could opening defy his wishes, ignore what he asks of her…..So this deliberate act was her first triumph…or so she thought…
After reaching home, Masi had tea and a small snack ready for all… Anu, Pia, Ranveer, Rano and Pushkar were all sitting ready to leave.....
All got ready, Adi turned around and said…. Jigyasa kya tum nahi chalogi????
Jigyasa turned around throwing fire at him said….are you mad?? What makes you think I will go to the sea shore with you guys…You must be out of your mind…so saying she stomped away…
Adi hiding a smile turned around to others….Chalo chalo abhi nikalte hai…nahi to der ho jayegi…andhera ho jaega…
So everyone headed to the car….
Reaching the seashore….everybody except Jai, Aditya, Masi, Dadi and Bani…ran towards the waves that were crashing on the shore… Rano and Pia could not control their excitement, came back to drag Bani towards the water….
Nahi Rano. Pia tum jao….mujhe nahi aana pani mei…
Par kyu Di…chalo na…please…pleaded Rano…
Arre Baniputar ja beta ja…mazaa ayega beta….so saying Dadi pushed her towards her sisters….
Par Dadi…Masi mujhe nahi jaana hai….
Aur kyu nahi???.....said Masi….Munna ja beta tu bhi Bani ke saath ja…
So saying she pushed Jai towards Bani who was being pulled by Rano and Pia…
After frolicking in the water for a while they all had bhel-puri, pani puri at the beach before heading home…
Jai had stoically maintained his silence with Bani through the evening, only talking to her when necessary…he did realize that though she has married him…she had done so reluctantly…so such war of wills was to be expected…but he knew how to deal with them…knew what he had to do….
