Jai would not let himself feel guilty….he could not let others know how he felt…he had to find her...!!!!!....

He would not let himself get mad…once he found her….he had to control his anger….even if he wanted to strangle her after finding her…for pulling such a stunt…for getting everyone so worried…for getting Masi and Dadi upset…for making her own sisters cry and for giving Jigyasa the opportunity for saying nasty things!!!!!!!!!

Chapter 13

Bani did not realize how late it was....only when she saw some kids playing…..making a lot of noise and the sun beating down on her…did she come out of her trance…not realizing how far she had walked…

She was in trouble…there was no doubt about it…she had not informed anyone before leaving…but then she had only intended to go out for a short walk…not carrying her purse or her cell phone…

But atleast she had come to a decision… she needed to talk to Mr. Walia...before the wedding

She could just see the hungama that must have happened in the house…after all it was the day of her Mehendi Rasam…

Sighing loudly, she hailed a taxi to carry her home…asking the taxi-driver to wait, she walked into the house to get money to pay him…

Seeing her walking in the girls came and hugged her saying…Di…aap kaha the…we were all so worried about you…

Ha Pia I am so sorry…bus samundar kinare baithi thi to waqt kaha gujar gaya pata hi nahi chala…I lost track of time…it was so quiet by the seashore and I did not realize how late it was…but I will be back…I need to pay the taxi-driver his fare…

So saying she walked to her room to get the money…

Anu had called Jaimama and Ranveerbhai to come back since Banimami had returned home…

Bani went out to pay the taxi driver and as she walked back in to the hose, Masi pulled her into a hug…

Bani beta kaha chali gayi thi…sab log tumhari kitni fikar kar rahe the…beta kaha chali gayi thi tum…

Woh Masi…I am so sorry…bus Mandir mei gayi thi…Papa aur Mummy ki bohot yaad aah rahi thi to…and then went down the shore…it was so quiet and peaceful this morning…I lost track of time… Masi, mujhe maaf kar dijiye…mera erada kisi ko takleef dene ka nahi tha…

I know..I know beta par.. chalo teek hai…ab tu aah gayi hai na…mei Tony se kehe deti hu khana laga de…

Munna, Aditya, Pushkar, Ranveer…sab bina kuch khaye hi nikal gaye the tumhe doondne…

Masi woh…I am so sorry…mei…

Teek hai beta…chal ja jaldi se haat mu dho le…tab tak sab aa hi jayenge…phir khana kha lete hai…abhi shaam ke liye tayari bhi to karni hai…

Ji Masi…

So saying Bani walked up to her room to freshen up…

When she was coming down the stairs, she noticed Mr. Walia enter the house with Adi uncle…He looked up her…she saw him looking at her…not sure what he was thinking…her steps faltered…she stopped…

Jai just turned around and went into his study…pouring himself a much needed drink, he tried to calm himself down…

How can she be so calm after creating such havoc in the house…for heavens sake today was the Mehendi and tomorrow the wedding…could she not be considerate of anyone…he had to calm himself down before he faced her…he knew that…he would blow up at her otherwise…

Bani walked down the stairs slowly…not knowing how to approach Mr. Walia…came up to Adi uncle…seeking some solace in all the chaos…he looked at her….kept his hand on his shoulder as if assuring her…

Bani..it is ok…don't worry…what is important is that you are home…and you are safe and sound…but I think you need to talk to him…no I think you should talk to him…

Ha Adi uncle….I know I do…I need to apologize to you too…mera ghar se chale jaane ka erada nahi tha Adi uncle…mei to bus…

It is ok beta…it is ok…

So saying he pushed her in the direction of the study…

She was a little nervous….a little scared…a little worried as to how she could she face him….she was well versed with his wrath…she had seen what he could do when he was upset…

Squaring her shoulders and taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door…

Come in…said Mr. Walia

Without turning to face the door to see who it was…he held on to the bar table…his knuckles white…

Mr. Walia…..said Bani..woh mei aap se baat…..mei maafi mangana ….

Maafi …kaisi maafi Bani…he said very quietly…

Kaisi maafi Bani….he repeated….kya tumne socha bhi ke Masi aur Dadi par kya bitegi…aur Pia and Rano….they have been so upset…..how can you not think of them…

Mei…I am really sorry Mr. Walia…I had no intentions of being gone for so long… I just kept thinking of Papa and Ma….and so decided to go to the Mandir to pray…and then seeing the sea shore by the Mandir could not resist taking a walk…I lost track of time…Mr. Walia…I am so sorry…..said Bani trying to hide a sob…but...she just could not stop the tears in her eyes…

Seeing her sobbing, Jai could feel himself letting go of his anger…he knew that the past week had not been easy for her…

Gently taking into his arms…he tried to calm her down…She hid her face in his chest…saying that she needs to talk to him…she is willing to accept the marriage but needs time…time to….

Munna…Bani…said Masi knocking on the door….chalo khana lag gaya hai….

So saying Jai opened the door and holding on to Bani's hand led her out of the study….

After the brunch, Masi insisted that Bani go and lie down for a while and telling Pia and Rano to make sure that she did rest up….

Didi…..didi….!!!!!! Utho Na….Utho Na!!!....cried Pia and Rano….

Bani groaned as she turned around….looking at the clock on her night stand which read 2 PM, she sat up quickly….

I did not know it was this late…why did you guys not wake me up earlier…what will Masi and Dadi be thinking…she said pushing the covers aside to get out of bed…

Arre Di, it was Masi that told us to let you sleep for a bit…

Di can we spend the rest of the afternoon with you and help you get dressed later…said Rano

Bani saw Rano had tears in her eyes and Pia was trying hard not to let herself cry…Bani opened up her arms to take that girls in her arms…

They all had a sweet moment together….

She was glad that she had finally made a decision…accepting what destiny had in mind for her….she could not let sisters down…their happiness meant all to her…she could not forget her promise to their dad that she would take care of them…

She would fight her battles with Mr. Walia alone and not involve anyone else…

Masi, Dadi, Adi Uncle, Anu, Pia, Rano, Pushkar….they all seemed so happy and she was not going to let anyone know her feelings anymore…

The girls spent what was left of the afternoon in each other's company….

Afterwards, Pia wanted to see Bani's options of outfits for the evening Mehendi function…….

They oooohed and aaahed on the outfits that Bani had to choose from…

Bani chose a blue colored lehenga choli….the choli was a little off the shoulder with a deep cut in the back … and a beautiful net dupatta that had golden threads woven in it…

The girls quickly got ready themselves…

And then they helped Bani get ready… soon enough, Masi called them…asking them to bring Bani down…

Her hair tied up high in a bun and the net dupatta drapped over her head doing nothing to hide what the scanty blouse did not cover…

Bani looked beautiful…..enough that Jai held his breath when he saw her coming down the stairs…fisting his hands as he letting out a small groan….turned around as he saw her walk past him…. the blouse barely covering her back and the dupatta hiding nothing....

Rano wore a beautiful green colored ghagra-choli while Pia had a Peach colored choli suit….both looked beautiful….enough for Ranveer and Pushkar to do a double take and look at them twice…

Bani walked down to the beautiful mandap that was set up… she sat down to get the Mehendi applied to her hands…she felt at peace now that she had made up her mind to accept the situation….

She felt herself being watched but when glancing around she saw that everybody was busy…but could not shake the feeling as if someone was watching her…she tried to look around discreetly when her eyes locked with Mr. Walia's…he did not relent and she had to finally drop her eyes, blushing….after that she became very aware of him…noting every move he made…

Bani had a smile on her face when Pia and Rano started performing to the song….how appropriate she thought…

Looking down Bani realized that her hands had beautiful mehendi design on them…

As the ceremony ended, Jai and Bani stood up by the door bidding their guests good night…this was Jai's chance to put his hand around her shoulder….carressing her shoulder and back at every opportunity that he got….well he had not punished her yet for the disappearing act that she had pulled this morning he thought...

Bani moved away quickly once she realized what he was up to and walked over to Pia and Rano so that they could help her eat…

No one was ready to sleep as they were all having such a good time…Jai quietly made his way by Bani and put his arm on the sofa where she was sitting…slowly caressing her neck, her back and her shoulders…discreetly…making Bani hold her breath…and blush…

Having mehendi on her hands was working out to her disadvantage…she tried to move away from him but he ended up pulling her towards him...

After a while both Masi and Dadi came over and saw that the Mehendi had already starting coloring to a dark shade….

Dekha Biji….mei na keheti thi….yeh mehendi meri bahu ke hatho pe bohot khilegi…dekha iska raang…ha bahut sundar lag rahi hai beta…

Dadi replied... iska matlab to pata hai na???

….Jai ko tujse bohot pyar hai…yeh to iss mehendi ka rang bata raha hai….

Bani did not know how to reply…kept her eyes lowered….while her face turned red…

She heard Mr. Walia chuckle a little…

Chodo Biji...tang nahi karo…chalo Bani abhi jao jake so jao… kafi der ho gayi hai…beta…you have a long day tomorrow….

So saying Rano helped Bani upstairs……Bani left giving a quick glance at Mr. Walia who looked at her and then turned around and went into his study…
