PART 30

gauri sat in front of the mirror, taking out her bangles. the women who stared back at her
seemed to have lost her glow. hollowness filled her eyes...there was no sign of the dent on
her cheek. she closed her eyes..trying to block out his words....

I swear... the silence... it speaks here like anything...

*flashback*

shahshank: that's right gauri…shiv was the one to bring me back
into your life. he hated you so much that he came to me for help….and you know what
happened after that….

she didn't want to believe shashank, but when she took
one look into shiv's guilt laden eyes...she didn't need to ask him if this was true or not.
everything seemed to freeze around her..as if the world stopped moving. her mind went blank
and she could think of nothing else but to run from there. all she heard was shiv call out
her name as she faded into the darkness...

*flashback ends*

gauri slowly opened her eyes to look into a pair of soft brown eyes...she knew those eyes
too well...
her own eyes filled with tears....

shiv: gauri I...
he was cut off when gauri brought her hand up..letting him know that she didn't want to hear
anything.
gauri took her time standing up and turning to face shiv.

shiv saw the emptiness in gauri's eyes and cursed himself for being the reason behind it.
he waited patiently for gauri to speak, but a half blind man can see the fear in shiv's eyes.
shiv was scared....he didn't know how gauri is going to react...so he quietly waited.

dammit... JC... dil mat todh aise yaar😭

gauri: how many more surprises are you going to give me shiv? ouch
shiv: gau...
gauri: ENOUGH! i've had enough. shiv ever since we got married i always tried to
make this relationship work...and at some point i know you did too...but you brought him
back? did you really hate me that much?
gauri's vision blurred as shiv tried to touch her. she hastily backed away. *SNIFFLES*😭

gauri: what's there to listen shiv...i wasn't going to believe shahshank when he said
you brought him back into my life...but i know those eyes(gauri looked deeply into them now)
...those eyes can never lie to me and they clearly told me that it was true... aankhon ki gustaakhiyan... maaf hon... I love the connection... being able to read each other so well...

shiv: gauri i know what i did was wrong..but believe me i hated myself after that night.
gauri: hated yourself that you couldn't throw me out of your life?
shiv's eyes reflected anger...he grabbed her arms and pulled her close. that's my man!😳
shiv whispered: how can you even say that...
gauri pushed his hands away.
gauri: look me in the eye and tell me that you still didn't think of throwing me out of your
life after that night
shiv lowered his eyes...

~Aata nahin yaqeen, kya se kya ho gaya...Kis tarha main tumse, bewafa ho gaya~

*flashback*

shiv thinking: i can't forget that i still want her out of my life.

shiv heard his cell phone ring and without looking at who the caller is, he picked up
the phone.

shiv: hello
gauri: ji..i was wondering when your gonna come home?
shiv: look gauri....i know whatever happened with you wasn't right....but that doesn't
change anything between us. i still don't consider you my wife, so please...don't try and
get too close.
And he rudely cut the line.

*flashback ends*

His honesty should say something na?

shiv gently cupped her face.
shiv: gauri you know me...i can't think straight when i'm angry...i was just so angry at you
for coming back that i...jaan please...you know my feelings for you changed after that night.
i was just too stubborn to admit it...gauri, i made a mistake calling shahshank..but believe
me...i didn't know he would do something that low...i could never wish that for anyone. JC, I'm gonna kill u now... if they separate like this... khud toh maroongi, tujhe bhi le dooboongi!

gauri sighed..but then she slowly pulled back.
gauri: but that didn't stop it from happening did it? give him a chance!!
gauri truned so her back was facing shiv.
gauri: shiv please...leave me alone.
shiv's heart sank...it's no use...she wasn't going to forgive him. his vision blurred
as he quietely walked out of the room. argh😭😡

gauri slowly slid to the ground...her tears falling uncontrollably. that night shattered
her heart completely...but she was greatful to have shiv breath life into her soul again...
get her heart beating again...finding out that he was behind that night as well...not only
shattered her heart...but it ended her existence. *salutes* the use of words... mind blowing👏👏


~Awaargi mein ban gaya diwaana...Maine kyun saadgi ko nahin jaana~

shiv cursed the day he thought of calling shahshank for help. WHAT was he thinking...how
could he have been so selfish...why didn't he realize how precious gauri is to him...
he brought the glass of whiskey to his lips...trying to calm the burn in his throat.
he frowned when he felt something...a flutter in his heart...he looked up to see gauri
walking down the stairs...that same flutter turned into dread when he saw the suitcase.

~Chaahat yahi hai ke, is qadar pyaar doon...Qadmon mein tere main, toh jahaan waar doon~

gauri stopped when she reached the bottom of the stairs...her needed to get away.
gauri: woh...i want to go to baba's house for a while...he's been telling me how he misses
me and i want to check up on his health too.

shiv smiled through tear laden eyes.
shiv: jab jhoot bolna nahi atha...tho kyun bolti ho? jaana chathi ho...jao...mein nahi
rokunga...lekin ek baat yaad rakna...agar tum chali gayi tho mein bhi yahaan nahi rahunga..
mein bhi tumhare peeche peeche... aww, still the mischief!!😳

gauri: shiv don't make this more harder than it already is...
shiv: then don't go...i know i made a mistake...but i can't see life without you gauri... me neither

~Chain mera le lo, khushi meri le lo...De do mujhe dedo saare gham~

gauri: shiv i need to go...i need some space to think about what i want. zindagi se door jaa kar zindagi ki kalpana... nadaan ladki, aag mein kabhi paani nahin tehr tah...
shis knew he was loosing her and franticly placed his hands on her shoulders.
shiv: i know what you want...gauri i know just as much as you do that you love me. just
give me another chance...i'll do anything for you.

gauri let out a sob: shiv please...let me go
shiv shook his head..holding onto her tighter.
shiv: you know me...i'll be lost without you..whose going to find my tie for me...whose going
to give me my wallet, my cell phone? whose going to iron my clothes?
gauri: shiv please!...i want to go.
she waited for him to let her go....shiv sighed in defeat. when she felt his hold on her
loosen she spoke.
gauri: you know if i heard the truth from you instead of shahshank it might have been
different.
shiv: what diffrence does it gauri?
gauri: the difference is that my trust in you wouldn't have been broken. he wanted to... was going to...

she began to walk towards the door when shiv's voice stopped her.
shiv: gauri...mat jao...
he fell down on his knees when gauri walked out the door...he felt a part of himself die.

JC, sorry for the late reply jaan... Your update was simply breath-taking... The way you've conveyed the emotions, just leaves me breathless... And I want to strangle you for separating them, but then again joh rooh se jude hote hain, unhe jism se kya vaasta... Beautiful darling... Keep me mesmerized...

PART 31

the night was like any other regular night....the full moon high in the sky, the stars
glittering, the wind romantic....but there was someone that knew nothing was the same
about this night. gauri's kohl-layered eyes lifted to the night sky and frown in confusion.
nothing seemed to be right about tonight according to her. the wind that has passed through
her hair like so many other times...displacing it just so shiv can move it behind her ear,
had a chill tonight, one that reached her bones. the stars that had twinkled many times before,
as if they were celebrating her and shiv's love, seemed to have a cold glow tonight...like
they weren't shining with their whole heart. the moon beams, which have always shed light in joy,
cascading down on them...seem to be sad. the moon reflected tears tonight. she is
aware of the sepration of two souls, and so...she weaps.gauri lowered her eyes...no...
nothing was the same tonight...

gauri: did i do the right thing? (she asked herself)
i can't believe shiv did something like that? but he helped me as well....but he should
have told me the truth. still...i can't forget that he loves me...but if he loved me why
did't he just tell me the truth? what do i do.....
gauri rocked back and forth in the rocking chair continuing her mental debate, wrapping the
blanket tighter around her, trying to block out the chill.

shiv: are you feeling cold?
gauri looked up in surprise when hearing his husky voice.
gauri whispered: shiv.....
a hint of a smile appeared...lighting up her face.
there he was...leaning on the doorjam, with his killing smile.
shiv: jaan....are you feeling cold?
gauri nodded in a 'yes'.
shiv held out his arms in invitation....his eyes filled with love like so many other times.
shiv: yahaan aa jao.
gauri smiled through her tears. she ran to shiv and hugged him tight...soaking in his presence.
she felt the warmth spread through her like a perfect summer day.
when she opened her eyes, she stood there at the doorway...alone...the chill has seemed to come back...

shiv turned in his sleep...he exhaled, letting out a chilled breath. it seemed to be getting
colder. he pulled the blanket around more...trying to warm himself. when that went in vain
reached out to the other side of the bed, seeking his other source of warmth.
he frowned when he felt that side of the bed empty.
he opened one sleepy eye and realization dawned on him. it wasn't long before his sleepy
eyes filled with pain. he closed his eyes and turned around...trying to go back to sleep.

shiv stepped out of the shower, dripping wet. he then wrapped a towel around his waist and walked
out of the bathroom drying his hair with another extra towel. he half expected gauri
to be fixing the bed. he was especially looking forward to gauri shying away, like always,
whenever he walked out of the bathroom like that. he looked around confused at the empty room,
and then felt his heart sink once again.

ippi: WHAT!? she left?
shiv sighed and took a sip from his beer can.
ippi: shiv...i'm so sorry...
shiv looked at his best friend.
shiv: it's my fault...i should have told her the truth.
ippi: but i can't believe she left so easily...how can she?
shiv: i don't blame her ippishita...that night destroyed her...finding out that i was behind it...
ippi: but you also saved her shiv...you were there for her when she needed someone to
lean on.
shiv: ippishita...she has every right to leave.
shiv crushed his beer can when he was done with it. he then tossed it aside and opened another
can.
ippishita's eyes filled with tears. she couldn't see her best friend in so much pain.
she placed a gentle hand on his shoulder.
ippi: shiv...stop drinking and go get her back. the shiv kapoor i know wouldn't give up
so easily...especially if it dealt with someone he loves so much.
shiv looked up in defeat.
shiv: nahi ippishita...i'm not going to force her to come back to me.
he raised his hand when ippishita started to protest.

shiv continued: i always thought of love like a bird...if your love leaves, let her go...if
she comes back, then she is yours...but if she doesn't, then she was never truly yours.
gauri has every right to leave me ippishita. trust me, i would trade my soul to have her back...
but it is up to her if she wants to come back to me or not. this is her test...if she
really does love me...then she'll come back. and in a way it's my test too...if my love
is true..then it will bring her back.

shiv broke away from his thought when his phone started to ring.
shiv: hello.....yes dad....i'll be there.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

gauri walked around her baba's house doing some chores here and there when she heard
someone ring the doorbell. she hurried to answer the door, wishing that it was the person
she so desperately wanted to see. her face fell when she opened the door to reveal someone
else. but she still smiled and asked her badi ma to come in.

nikila placed a hand on gauri's head giving her blessings.
nikila: how are you bachi?
gauri smiled, but nikila noticed that the smile didn't reach her eyes.
both the ladies sat down and there was a moment of silence.
one of the ladies wanted to say something, but couldn't....so the other lady waited
patiently. after a long silence nikila spoke.

nikila: you can ask me how shiv's doing now gauri.
she continued when gauri stayed quiet.
nikila: look beta, i don't know what happened between you two, lekin iss tara ke jagde tho
hote rehte hain. isse ristey tho katam nahi hote hain na bachi.

nikila placed a gentle hand on gauri's nervous fingers that where twisting her pallu.
nikila: gauri...i know shiv can be impossible sometimes. who can understand that better than
me, but he would never intentionally hurt someone.
gauri finally spoke: badi ma, i know shiv is a good man, but would you forgive him if
you where in my position?
gauri then told nikila everything that happened from the begining of their marriage.

nikila sat there shocked after gauri was done.
gauri: now you tell me badi ma...would you be able to forgive him?
there was a long pause until nikila spoke again.

nikila: gauri, ek aurat apna sab kuch luta kar dil aur jaan se mohabat karti hain...ek mard
mein iss tara ka mohabat karne ki takat nahi hoti(when gauri's eyes filled with tears nikila
finished her sentence)....except shiv.(gauri looked at her badi ma in surprise).
haan gauri, shiv jab kuch karta hain, tho woh pure dil se karta hain...phir chahe woh nafrat
ho ya pyaar. he loves you alot bachi. woh tumhe dil aur jaan se mohabat karta hain.
you asked me if i would forgive shiv if i was in your position...if you payed attention to
a word i just said....you already know the answer.

gauri smiled when nikila softly kissed her forehead...she knew what to do.
