why does shiv........?

hey guys I just recently started watching this serial, so i have some questions:

why does shiv hate gauri so much?
what is hiten's role in the serial?

cause shiv was bakced into a corner and HAD to marry her cause other wise his dad would disown him and exclude him from his power and money.

hiten is just a good family friend tht we really dont know mych more about.

also...

palak got into alot of trouble from her dad becuz of gauri (tho it was styl palak's fault)...btw palak is shiv's sister......even shiv was slapped by his dear grandmother becuz of gauri...so yeah...these are the reasons he hated her...and den he was forced into marrying her...wen gauri's groom didnt show up for the wedding...so he had to become her groom at the last moment...

and hiten...he's a good family member..a close fwen like said b4...but he had also met gauri earlier on, and gauri told him how her groom didnt show up for the wedding...so she is being married to shiv....but she doesnt love shiv...so hiten advices her to go and get married and accept her fate...accept the challenge...

at that time we didnt noe who hiten was....den later after teh wedding we find out he's shiv's good fwen...more like a big brother...
