Iqbal Khan talks to BT about his marriage plans and says he is not worried about losing his female fan following
I did two films, Funtoosh and Bullet. After that I was without work for a long time. I went through a bad time. I travelled in buses and struggled a lot. Then when Ekta was auditioning for Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai, I decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised when I was informed that I had bagged the lead role. I guess God wanted me to see the bad times in life so that I'm always grounded.
After all the success, are you image conscious now?
Not at all. I'm a very level headed and decent guy. Success has not gone to my head and I don't go around running over people with my car! I'm still the same person, but more grounded now. Success does change a lot of things and in my case it has made me more humble.
So, you are not doing any films now?
I'm grateful to TV for what I am today. I cannot leave TV for films. There are a lot of commitments that I have to complete. I did get a lot of offers to do film, but I did not take them up. I'm happy doing television. TV happened to me at a time when I was struggling and I cannot be ungrateful.
Heard that you plan to tie the knot soon?
Yes, that's true. People say that if I get married now, I may lose my female fan following. Some say that I will become more popular. But I don't think so. I need to get married. I'm fed up of handling myself all alone. Moreover it's good to have dinner with your wife every night.
