Chapter 1
"Papa!" called out Nandini as she ran down the steps to her beautiful crme and blue colored home. Her house had a certain positive aura to it, a warm and welcoming vibe. This was the house she had spent the last 18 years of her life in. She was grateful that after her mother's passing, her father did not try to detach her or himself away from the memories her mother had left behind for her to cherish. Her mother's death had only managed to bring her and her father closer, and she was forever grateful to have such a kind and talented father. She hoped that her future husband would be just like her father. Talented and smart. Warm and kind. She blushed. She knew her future husband, Dhruv, would be even better in a husband's role than he was as her lover.
She had known Dhruv since she was 15 years old. As she drove to her expensive high school in one of her father's many cars, she always noticed a boy, about 19 or 20, working on car parts in a small, dimly lit garage. SINGH GARAGE, was written boldly in what appeared to be black tar or oil paint of sorts. Seeing him work on cars, sometimes with his shirt off, his broad muscles and toned body made her teenage hormones go kind of crazy. She wished she could just go up to him and talk to him and make him fall in love with her as much as she was in love with him. So one day, she did exactly that.
One morning on her way to school, she had said bye to her father and had stepped into the car a bit earlier than usual. Even the driver had not assumed his position at her door. She looked around and noticed the security was busy in their own tasks. No one was looking. She knew this was the right time. She pulled out the air pump from her bag, opened the car's gas area, kneeled down, and blew in as hard as she could. She blew and blew, but nothing came. Ugh, why wasn't it working? She inhaled in with all her strength, and finally, there it came. The gas began to come out slowly yet steadily. She had googled how much she needed to take out to land around the vicinity of Dhruv's dad's garage. She knew the plan would be perfect. The car would be forced to stop around the garage, she would get her chance to talk to Dhruv, and everything would be perfect.
"Madam, aap yahan neeche kya kar rahi hai?" called out Yogesh the driver from afar. She quickly disposed of the gas and shut the tank. She hid her pump back into her school bag, and replied "Kuch nahi Dada, who mera earring yahan kahin gir gaya tha, toh mein usse dhoond rahi thi, lekin abh woh mil gaya hai, toh abh na mein na bayt jaati hun, theek hai na dada, okay abh aab bhi bayt jao warna aap school ke liye late ho jaoge... mera matlab mein.. toh chalein.." she headed towards the driver's seat only to realize her blunder. One thing about Nandini was she was a terrible liar. She had struggled to hide anything from anyone, and never felt the need to because her father had a great heart, and was an understanding man.
She got into the car, and placed on her seatbelt, and internally giggled. She was so excited. There's no way her plan could go wrong.
