Chap 23

The Never Ending Night

Mukti and Nandini were sitting in the patio in Nandini's home, there was a complete silence. "one night just one f**king night screwed up our whole life." Mukti said finally letting out her frustration. Nandini sighed and said "my best friend is a witch; her boy friend is a werewolf; my sister is a vampire and the guy I love is a 500 year old vampire and I thought few days back that my life will now get sorted. I am really worried about Alia."

Just as they both sat looking out in the darkness a voice grabbed their attention. "Nandini!" it was Alia standing with Dhruv and Manik. "Alya!" Nandini ran to hug her but stopped mid way remembering their last encounter and how it ended. She looked at Manik who blinked to assure her. She hugged Alya and said "I missed you. How are you doing?" Nandini was very concerned about Alya. Alya smiled and said "I am fine Nandu. How are you?" she then turned to Mukti who was still frozen at her place "hey Mukti." She moved ahead but Mukti stopped her in between "I am good Alya."

They all looked at each other and Nandini said "soulie what are you doing? She's Alya; my sister and your friend." Mukti replied "Nandini don't take me wrong but now she is also a vampire who tried to kill you last time she met you. I need time to digest all this; my life is a wreck now and I had enough for this day." Saying this she walked off. Nandini was about to say something but Alia stopped her "its ok Nandini she is right. In fact even I need time to wrap my head around these things." "let's go and take the ring from Singhania's" Dhruv suggested and they all walked off.

The Singhania family was sitting in their hall when Manik, Dhruv, Alia and Nandini arrived. Dadi and Vandana ran to Alia and hugged her and cried. "You are gonna be fine beta." Dadi assured and Alya could just give a faint smile in reply. "So can we have the day light ring for Alya?" Manik asked cutting the reunion short. Dadi gestured Mukti who brought a small pouch and gave to Alya. Alya opened and saw a beautiful white gold and amber stoned ring. "This ring has the magic spell casted which will help you to roam freely in the sun just like them." She pointed towards Manik and Dhruv.

As dadi was busy explaining the ring Mukti was shooting angry glares at Manik; "Don't even think of doing witchy." Manik warned Mukti. "I don't like you." Mukti shot back. "Feeling's mutual." Manik retorted back with a sarcastic smile. "I am tolerating you just for Nandini." Mukti again shot back. "same pinch witchy." Manik replied again. Mukti was again about to say something when Nandini stopped both of them saying "stop it you two please." She said pleading and for her sake they both gave a whatever look. Mukti walked into her room and locked herself.

Manik, Nandini, Dhruv and Alya walked out. "Nandini we have to take Alya to meet the coven. And before you say that you want to come no you cannot. You are a human and we can smell your blood." Manik refused Nandini. "But Manik will Alya come back home after the coven meeting?" Nandini asked. "I am afraid not so soon Nandini; not until she learns how to control her blood lust and she need to control her new found powers. You are not safe Nandini so Alya will be staying at Malhotra Mansion, but you can visit her whenever you want." Manik said. Nandini's face fell down. "Don't worry Nandini I will be fine you just take care and be safe." Alya said and walked off.

Somewhere in the heart of the forest; right across the lake there was a huge cave like thing. Manik< Dhruv and Alya walked and crossed the lake and went in the cave to find all the other vampires waiting for them. "you are late." Said a voice who appeared to be the leader of the coven. "I am sorry I had to arrange for a ring." Manik clarified. Everyone else looked at Alya and she was asked to move ahead and then she was introduced to everyone and was explained the rules of the coven. "we will not cross paths with humans; we will not expose yourselves to the humans; we will not harm human without any reason; these are few of the rules that we live by." The leader of the coven said. "the most important thing for you to remember is live by secrecy and we cannot live at one place for a long time; we have to be on the move constantly to hide our identities and you will be under the care of Vikrant and Neyonika. "

After that the leader turned to Manik and said "Manik you killed a werewolf and you got involved with a human. Do you realize the consequences?" Manik gave him whatever look and said "I didn't kill the werewolf on purpose. He attacked us so I had to kill him for self defense. This is the question of power; we vampires are the rulers of the dark and those wolves have called a war so let it be. We rules darkness and we need to wipe clean them." Manik shouted as he picked on the leader of the coven.

He held his collar and said "we will fight back; I have killed the elder now it's the turn of the Alpha. They will come for the moonstone and as far as I know it's right here in Dharamshala." Saying this Manik declared a war on the werewolves with the support of his coven. He again picked up the leader and said "I love Nandini so don't you even dare to do anything to her or else I will stake you right away." He picked up a stake a pierced it though his stomach and walked off leaving him in pain.

Nandini was standing at her bedroom window holding a picture of her's and Alya when she felt Manik's arms snaking her waist. "hey missing her?" he asked and she just "hmm"ed in reply. Manik turned her around and said "Nandini she will be fine don't worry. We all will help her with her transition. Do you trust me?" she nodded in a yes. Manik smiled and said "then don't worry I will handle everything." He fused his lips with her for deep and passionate kiss. He was slowly sucking and nibbling her lips to assure her that he is there to take care of her. Nandini just stood there all surrendered while he kissed and kept on kissing her.

Finally on finding her breathless he let her go and took her in his embrace and she said "Manik ab kya hoga? I mean Harshad's grandad is dead they are werewolves and dadi told me that vampires and werewolves don't get along. So I am scared Manik." Manik picked her in arms and laid on bed with Nandini on top of him. He sighed and said "it is true Nandini that we don't get along in fact we are enemies and now there is going to be an open battle; open season but you don't worry as long as I am there no one can harm you." Nandini looked up to him and asked in a feeble tone "aur tum?" Manik smiled and said "I promise I will not let anything happen to me either. I know the pain of separation and I won't put either of us in that situation Nandini." And without giving him an opportunity to think further she fused her lips with his for a long passionate kiss pouring all her love.
