MANIK'S ATTIRE
After bidding him, I went inside the house. His words had left a incessant smile on my face. I happily had my dinner alone as dad had already messaged that he'll be late.
I went to my room and saw a message from an unknown number - "since you are comfortable...let's begin the challenge...all the best for tomorrow miss crazy girl '".
He is not that much Arrogant after all...Mr.A2... And today...he was too much nice. He cared about me first...I pulled over the duvet and closed my eyes to get some sleep.
Manik went back to his mansion with carefree smile on his face. Now the only thing which he was thinking was how to make Nandini murthy loose after all he cannot underestimate me, after being cognisant of the deeds that I am capable of.
He straight away barged into Cabir's room to discuss his plans with him, only to find the latter in a deep slumber. " Cabir get up right now I have to talk something important". Manik shook his shoulders hastily in order to wake him up. After a lot of resistance, finally Cabir gave in and got up rubbing his eyes, with a frown on his face only to be greeted with a sheepish grin of him.
"What do you want Manik, Go to your princess..why did you come so early ha?", Cabir was too much exasperated and scowled at him for disturbing his peaceful sleep.
"Shut up Cabir ..and now listen to me carefully..I have got a plan to make your princess loose the bet but you have to help me in it". With an impish grin on his face, Manik explained his full plan to Cabir.
"Manik do whatever you want to do but please I beg you don't involve me in this shitty scrap of yours...because at the end you'll get a kiss and I'll get a slap or may be this time more worse. If she comes to know that I have helped you in this bet of yours, then I bet that she'll not leave me to have any kind of bet in my life." Cabir was horrified even with the imagination of the consequences of his involvement in Manik's prank. After a myriad of requests and blackmails, finally Cabir agreed to help him. With the confidence of easy win, both of them finally said goodbye to the night.
My sleep was disturbed with the same tune like everyday. I switched off the alarm and went to washroom as from today my classes will began early and I don't wanted to be late at least for the very beginning days of my new college. After a few minutes, I was ready in light blue jeans with a black top, having a white scarf and black heels along, giving a perfect look to me. Well...Nandini Murthy looks good in simple also!!!. I complimented myself after having a look in the mirror.
I rushed down and had my breakfast alone. Dad was busy as usual in his business affairs and the other member of the family will be here just day after tomorrow. I took my car and drove to Naina's house to pick her up. All the way to college, her blabbering was going on and on. I myself don't know whether I listened her or not..uff!!
On the other hand, Manik and Cabir came much early to the college, even before us. He made arrangements to carry out his plan which was much accompanied with Cabir's annoyance at every step.
We were moving towards the way of our class when I saw Manik and Cabir talking near the music room. He was dressed in blue jeans, white tee and blue jacket, having a perfect killer look!! What Ayippa ...definitely I would love to kiss him again and again if he appears like this.
"Good morning princess!!! And princess ki assistant!!", my lusty thoughts were broken with the greet of Cabir. I wished him back with a smile whereas Naina greeted him with the compliment - "dumb head!!". And they started their bickering. All this while Manik's unwavering stare at me was creating butterflies in my stomach.
"So ready to loose..!!", he affirmed with his smirk.
"I know you'll loose...so why are you informing me!!!", my witty answer with sarcasm made his smirk wider. He let out a chuckle. With a smile on my face, I waved him bye and dragged Naina with me to stop her petty argues with Cabir.
"Hello guys!!", Manik greeted his friends who were still miffed with the yesterday's incident.
"Manik did you talked to Nyonika aunty about the matter?", Mukti asked him ignoring all the other things.
"Actually she was busy yesterday so I didn't get a chance but you all don't worry I'll talk to her but till then let's have some fun... I have planned something...lets greet the Freshers...what say!!", he tried to pacify them. Soon everyone's mood was changed and they followed him with a grin.
After two hours of continuous classes, we were bored now. We went to canteen to refresh ourselves with a coffee. I was sipping coffee and chatting with Naina about Abhi, that what should I do with him this time. We were in the middle of the conversation when I heard the announcement - "All the Freshers are requested to go to the auditorium now". I sipped the coffee soon and left the canteen along with Naina.
I entered the auditorium with the expectation of some guest lecture but froze on the entrance itself, due to the view in front of my eyes. Fab5 was standing there in the stage...ok not whole fab5 as I couldn't find Manik anywhere. And the first thought came in my mind was..not again...one more session of ragging..don't they get tired!!
"Nandini I think we should go back", Naina said, even she guessed it that there was something fishy going on here. I agreed with her and as we turned back to move out, the door was closed by the very beloved Manik. He turned and stood there, folding his arms across his chest. He expressed through eyes that he was waiting for us to go and have a seat. Finally I sighed and seated in the second row.
"Hello Freshers ...welcome to Space!!", Manik greeted the crowd in cheerful voice.
"You all are the new batch of Space and we seniors welcome you all...so today we all want you to introduce yourself and show your talent but not in a boring and traditional style...we'll have fun with it...so are you all interested in knowing how we'll have fun guys??", Manik addressed the crowd ecstatically with confidence.
"Yeah", even the crowd was shouting with him.
"So we all 5 will be your hosts for today...ok the game will be like this that we'll pick two students at one time and will have a buzzer question..the one who answers firsts correctly will be the winner and the other one will be the loser but ...but the game doesn't end here...so here goes the catch...the one who wins will have to do talent tasks and the one who loses will do punishment tasks". Manik explained the game or should I say his innovative way of knowing each other. Well I found the game to be cool. It comprises knowledge with fun..I must say he has good wits as well with good looks.
"Sweety what you are thinking...you are already filled with all answers in your mind..so no need to think", Naina mocked at me.
"And one more thing guys...the questions will be asked from the cue cards randomly and the tasks that you'll have to perform will be randomly displayed on the screen...so are you all ready", Cabir added more information to the game.
I laid back on my seat, relaxing myself. The first two persons Manik picked were Riya and Mohit. I haven't seen them before, may be they were from the other branch.
"So the first question is guys ...how many sounds does tabla produce?", he asked after looking from the cue card in his hands. I looked towards the participants and heard Riya saying - "12". Well smart girl, I must say. Manik smiled at her and replied - "correct ". He called both Mohit and Riya on stage.
First it was Riya's turn to perform the talent task. Cabir kept on changing the slides in projector hastily and instantly stopped at one. She got the task to play any string instrument, which she did nicely. Whereas Mohit got the task to do a chicken dance for 5 minutes as his punishment. Well hilarious it was!!
Cabir picked two boys, Rahul and Ajay, for the second question. "Ok so here goes the second question... In which year did Lata Mangeshkar was awarded with the Padma Bhushan?", Cabir and Manik has exchanged their places and this time Cabir was asking the question. Well obviously I knew the answer. It was so easy and I found both the participant to be blank. Like how... they are here to study music and arts and they don't know even this...stupid morons!!
"At least try guys come on", Cabir was trying to motivate them and they did gave answers but both of them were wrong. Manik changed the slides and they got the punishment of breaking 5 eggs on their heads. Mukti brought the eggs and they followed. Now the auditorium stinks!!! But Manik sprayed the Freshner before going ahead.
Now again the mic was in the Manik's hand. And he picked me first. He was smirking at me. I was just standing and observing him. Then, after scanning the whole auditorium for two minutes, finally he picked a guy named Vishal.
"So the question for you guys is ...which was the aboriginal instrument used in the movie Dil Chahta Hai?". Before I could even recall which movie it was, the answer came from the other end - "Didgeridoo ". Seriously...!! vishal gave answer so fast that I was taken aback for a minute. But it's ok after all it's a game.
We went to the stage after that. He got the task to sing a fusion song. Well he was ok ok only but I would definitely give him credit for his theoretical knowledge.
Now Manik turned towards me. He was having an impish smile. He slid his palms in his jeans pocket and came towards me. "Let's see what you have to do miss", he spoke nonchalantly in mic after coming dangerously close to me.
"Cabir change the slide", he ordered. And in 10 seconds it stopped. My eyes dilated after reading the sentence.
"Kiss your HOST", was I dreaming or it was seriously written that only. I saw him smirking at me. I passed him glares full of anger but they were ineffective for him.
"I WONT", I announced sternly
"Why you got scared Miss...well look guys it seems the girl has chicken out", he addressed the audience after giving me a wink. And the crowd started shouting - "boo...!!! " " go ahead" "may be she wants a room!!" "Booo she doesn't know how to kiss!!"
He played his card very well. He knew I would be irritated but right now I was more furious than miffed. This boy na will eat my brain fully...he trapped me in front of everyone..If I'll refuse, people will think I am scared and I don't want that...what to do now ...how to come out from this situation...help Ayippa please...I was burning with my anger, I would have slapped him countless times if we would have been alone. All because of him, the whole crowd was passing stupid comments.
I looked around, his friends were having sinister glee, obviously they all are wicked idiots. I just looked at the corner to have a glance at Naina and what else could I even expect from her. She was giving me a thumbs up smilingly..unbelievable really!!!
