Chapter 4

Navya was sitting on Manik's bed since last 5 hours in the same position with head leaned on the wall. Manik was sleeping with his head in Navya's lap and her one hand was clasped in his on his chest with other she was ruffling his hair..!

"Did they really get married! Aisa bhi kya hua that they took such a big step..!"She thought staring at the ceiling then she looked at Manik's face..! At least while sleeping there was no frown on his face ,he was calm..! But Navya knew whenever he woke up that frown will also come back which she didn't want..! How much lively her brother was..! He used to smile all the time..! He was so cool,calm and careless types..! Although she wanted him to be responsible but now she really missed his carelessness..! Though his carefree attitude was annoying for her at the same time it was the reason of her smile too..! Kis ki nazar lag gayi mere pyaare se bhai ko..! Tears welled up in her eyes as past events flashed before her eyes.

FLASHBACK

"Manik..! Main poch sakti hoon tmhri wo Sports Car kahan hai jo last week lay kar di the myny..!"Navya yelled on top of her voice as she came in lounge.

Manik was lying on his stomach on the couch..! Empty packets of chips,popcorns,chocolates were lying here and there with discarded cans of soft drinks...! He was so much engrossed on watching the movie that he totally ignored Navya's shout..!

When Navya noticed that he didn't heard her...! She clutched her fists in anger and picked up a cushion..! Before Manik could register anything she started beating him with the cushion..!

"Sorry..! Di Sorry..!"Manik shouted painfully..

"Car kahan hai?"She yelled again and sat beside him..

"Wo..! Ummm..! Us kay tires..! They ripped off last night during the car race..!"Manik told her sheepishly and she just wanted to bang her head in the wall..

"Manik Malhotra..! It's your fourth car in this month which is out of order..! You want us to be bank corrupted or what?"Navya complaint slapping his shoulder..

"Oh Come on Di..!"Manik said shrugging his shoulder and laid down in her lap.."You very well know kay meri cars ki waja say hum aglay sath janmo tak bhi bank corupt nahi ho skty..!"He replied in a naughty tone and Navya finally laughed..

"Yeah yeah I know...!!"Navya said playfully pulling his cheeks.."But aagy say aisa nahi hona chye..!"She warned him at the same time and he nodded like an obedient,innocent child..! Navya very well knew the innocent face will repeat this again..!

Navya smiled in her tears and blinked her eyes.. A tear fell on Manik's cheek and he moved in sleep..!

"Di..!"Manik whispered in a little voice as his vision was blurred..! But still he clearly noticed his Di's tears .She was the only woman in his life whom he never wanted to get hurt..! He got up with a jerk and wiped her tears..!

"Di..di..what happened"Manik asked

"I should be the one asking this Manik"She replied in a painful tone..! "How much I wanted you to be normal once again..! Q kar rahy ho ya sab..!"Navya's tears knew no boundaries..

"Di main..!"Manik fumbled with his words badly..

"Manik..! Mery pehly waly Manik ban jaoa..! Mjy mera pehly wala bhai wapas chye..! Beta main nahi dekh skti tmhy aisy..!"She sobbed again and hugged Manik..! He was so messed up..! What should he do?? Suddenly she remembered about the marriage but before she could ask her cell phone rang..

"Ji Uncle..!Manik ...Manik ghar aa gya"She said looking at him "But uncle Nandu ka fever kesa hai?"Navya asked wiping her tears with the back of her palm and Manik's eyes widened a little..! Nandini? Fever?

"What? Hospital? Which one?"Navya spoke anxiously as Mr.Murthy spoke from other side.."Ok I am just coming..!"She assured Mr.Murthy and got up..! But before she could go Manik held her hand,,

"What happened?"He asked trying his best to cover his nervousness..

"Nandini is in hospital..!"That's all Navya said and that too so coldly with that she left too..! Manik was shocked...! She was in hospital? How? Didn't she get back home last night? What did I do? This revenge thing has made me so blind..!

He got up to get a shower..! He was relaxed at a point that as he knew Nandini will not tell anybody about the marriage but he never knew he himself had told Navya everything..!

Manik stood under the shower as he recalled previous night's incidents..! He closed his eyes in pain..! He himself don't know what the hell was he doing..! Where the hell this passage will lead to..! There is a saying..!

"Waiting hurts..! Forgetting hurts..! But not knowing which decision to take can sometimes be the most painful..!"

Same was the case with Manik..! He was in so much pain..! He himself didn't knew what was more hurting? His hatred towards Alya or his love towards...??

Navya sat beside Nandini and lightly caressed her forehead..! The poor little soul was suffering without any reason..! Without any cause..! She still remembered how badly she was crying THAT day..!

FLASHBACK

Manik and Alya were exchanging rings on the stage. Everyone was cheering for them. Suddenly Manik noticed Nandini's absence.He asked Navya to look for her. She became a little curious as she had also found Nandini's behavior weird since morning..! She walked towards Nandini's room and froze on her as she overheard Nandini's self talk...

"Nandu..! Rona ni..! You have to be strong..! Manik is happy with Alya..! Alya is happy with Manik..! Agr tu Manik say sacha pyaar karti hai tou usy khush dekh kar khush ho ja..!"She was encouraging herself crying badly and Navya was shocked..! She entered her room and immediately hugged her..! Nandini too was shocked..! She realized that Navya heard her sobs..

"Nandu..."She pulled apart and cupped her face "Tumm...Manik se..."Nandini bent her head and nodded.

"Why didn't you tell Manik about your feelings Nandu?"Navya complaint sadly..

"Because he had chosen Alya already...!"Nandini replied softly "But di...di you dont worry.I wont bother anyone.Mumma swear " She pinched her throat while sobbing "Main na..! India say he chali jaoan ge..! Yeah I will go..! Main us kay beech kabhi nahi aoan ge..!"She said wiping her tears faking determination.

"You are a strong girl nandu" Navya caressed her head "Dont worry...!Time is the biggest healer.You will forget him with time.And I am sure that God has chosen someone even better for you...!"

Nandini nodded sadly and clinged to Navya again.

"Mera pehle pyaar adhoora reh jayega?"She thought to herself and pursed her lips in dismay.

MaNan were in so much pain Navya could see it but she was clueless what she could do to make things normal!!Cabir was out of town for an important meeting so she didn't want to disturb him. She wasn't even sure what Manik was blabbering in unconsciousness was either true or not? She noticed a bruise on Nandini's neck ! She knew Nandini will not tell her anything..! Again she felt pity for the poor soul..! She became so sad she bent down to kiss her forehead when suddenly she noticed very very faint redness of vermilion in her head and her doubt became clear which was not at all a happy realization for her..!

It was 11 PM..! Maid had put Abeer to sleep !!!Manik had finished the work early so he was home..! Navya was still at hospital and now he was waiting for her..! The whole day while working in office the only thing in his mind was NANDINI..!

"W*F..! Why can't I get her out of my bloody head..???! You moron Manik Malhotra..! Get a grip of yourself ass..!"Manik cursed himself under his breath..

"Ahaaa..! Looks like someone is losing here once again..!"Heart teased laughingly..

"Shut the f**king up..! Stop annoying? How much I was in peace from last two years since you had stopped talking shit..!"Brain cursed his heart..

"Really? You were in peace? Tich rich..! That's sad..! But now I am back..! I will annoy you till the time you will accept my presence..!"Heart said impishly.

"I won't..!"Brain shouted..

"You will..! I mean just look man she is in hospital..! Now don't even try to deny that you don't care for her..!"Heart was back with his shit..

"I don't of course..!"Brain was stuck on his point..Heart was about to say something when Navya entered..!

"Manik Malhotra"She said in a determined tone and held his hand " Tell me each and everything...right now"She said keeping his hand on her head "Tumhe apni di ki kasam"

"Diii" He pulled back his hand as soon as he realized what she had said.

"Tell me" She spoke again almost yelled..!

Manik then narrated her each and everything right from saving Nandini from the goons to leaving her alone in the temple.Navya listened to everything tearfully.She couldn't believe her ears that her brother could behave so ruthlessly.

She moved forward and rewarded him with a tight slap...! He held his cheek diving in the pool of shame..!

"How could you be so callous Manik..Maine tumhe paal poss ke itna bada kiya , tumhara dhyaan rakha...aur tumne ye kaisa din dikhaya mujhe Manik "She pulled the collars of his shirt.

Manik didn't say a word instead he stood there lifeless with his head bent..!

"Mom ke jaane ke baad..."Navya spoke again but Manik interrupted before she could finish her sentence.

"Don't..!" He spoke sternly showing her his palm as his embarrassed expressions turned in furious ones and took a few steps backward " Don't mention the name of that women...!"

He turned and went into his room and banged the door.

Navya knelt down on the floor while sobbing " Ye Kya kar diya tumne Manik...!"
