" I love you Manik but I have to stay away from you. I want this divorce. "
Nandini's abrupt out of the blue statement startled not only Manik but the Parent Malhotra and the Almighty as well.
They were beyond shocked as just before few seconds they exhaled relaxation breath thinking of ' end of the complications' . But all of a sudden within a blink everything just fell into square one brutally.
When they were trying to digest another heartbreak , the person with deep brown chocolate full of tears eyes kept looking at the reason of all these unblinking.
Nandini was herself in the verge of getting shattered. She was pathetically stuck between her heart and mind.
Her heart was pushing her to free herself in Manik's lovable protective arms.
But her mind was poking her to protect Manik from her cursed fate.
She was feeling helpless staring at Maan and Niyonika's broken faces. She just wanted nothing but kill herself to hurt those people for whom she was taking breath. These people never let her tears formed in her eyes and now she was rewarding their pure love with breaking their trust heartlessly.
But Love is all about sacrifice. Sacrificing the happiness of yours for your loved one.
Noting that in her mind , she determinedly looked at Manik who was gaping at her with unexpected silence as if trying to read her mind.
" I am Sorry Manik. But I don't have any other options without this. "
Saying she came towards Niyonika and Maan. Their tear filled tired face slapped her determination hard. But yet she composed.
She slowly took both of their one hands on her and said with trembling lips
" mom papa you have always supported me. After mumma and dad you guys have taken care of me. You have given me whatever I asked. You guys even pampered me more than Manik. In my every decision you guys stood beside me as my strong support. Please aaj bhi I am wishing that. I am begging you to please stand by my decision. Please. "
" Nandu baby... I have always been with your every good or bad decisions. And will stand by you today also. But just tell me one thing WHY? "
Niyonika asked caressing her hairs. Then continued " You love him. Don't you? "
Nandini was again found herself tongue tight. She gazed at her mother in law. She didn't have the answer.
She kept looking at her with all answers wrapped in her vulnerability up.
Niyonika smiled halfly and said " Sacrificing in love is good Nandu. But when it will come to handy. Naki tab jab that sacrifice itself will become the destruction of love. "
Nandini was stunned by Niyonika's word. In a blink her head turned towards Manik who was still standing in the same place with frozen feet fossil.
And she got the meaning of Niyonika's deep words.
" think twice before taking any decisions beta. " that time Maan spoke and about to leave when they heard another shocking announcement
" No. This divorce will happen. Whatever Nandini is wanting she will get it "
" What the hell? Now what's wrong with him? Till then he was dying to stop this separation. And now he is announcing it so stubbornly. Ufff such really complicated persons these two husband and wife are. "
The Almighty even became surprised moreover that annoyed with his these two technically faulty, proof of Complications creatures.
" What is this now with you Manik ? What is wrong with you? " an annoyed Maan scolded him.
He took deep frustrating breath and said " Dad , we can't stop her. When she is determined for this divorce then we can't force her. After all Love is not getting all time but letting go too. "
Nandini stared at him. His eyes had something deep. Before she could measure the depth of the unknown spark of his eyes, she sensed his intoxicating smell.
Manik slowly walked near her and caged her between his arms. He made her look straight into his eyes tilted her tired chin.
He then tucked the errant strands behind her ear which were disturbing his eyes to have perfect view of his angel and lovingly uttered
" Nandini I don't know why you are thinking that you're cursed when you yourself is my lucky charm. I don't understand why you are thinking separation is the best option of protecting my life from that bullshit good for nothing socialite baseless rules, but for me only you are important. So if you have taken this decision of separation then I won't stop you. Never. But in one condition."
Nandini was confused with his words. first of all these turmoil moments, the guilt. The heartbreak. The vulnerability. And then his closeness started doing havoc inside her . All these complications had made her thinking ability a well cooked hotchpotch.
Devoid of any strength of thinking she just kept looking at him to help her. He bought her plead and continued
" do you remember what is in four days? "
She was again confused. He again saved her and spoke further
" My birthday. "
And then she got her senses back. Because of that divorce fiasco she had completely forgotten about this special day. Again guilt virus attacked her. She looked at him with sorry expression. She was hell embarrassed.
Manik rubbed his lips softly seeing her embarrassment and promptly said " Hey it's okay. But do you know what is in the fifth day? "
Her eyes twinkled followed by his sparking gaze. Tears rolled down from her eyes.
Wiping those tears he said caressing her cheek with his knuckles
" In the fifth day is your birthday. Nandini our 25th birthday. After separation you will go back to London. Then I don't know kavi mauka milega bhi nehi to celebrate this together like usual. So I am thinking let's celebrate together for the last time then on the sixth day ... "
He couldn't complete as his voice choked recalling the divorce summon going to be held just after five days.
Nandini sighed deeply and suddenly she felt no weight on her knees and threw herself on his chest. Manik was perplexed with the sudden action of her but even he could feel what she was going through. So he adoringly took her in his embrace and the both started shading tears for their such deep in love yet complicated relationship.
Maan and Niyonika also couldn't take the sight more and silently left the place to give them their moment which were just few days guest.
Nandini let her all sorrow flowing down as the form of tears. Her uncontrollable tears wet his shirt whereas his precious pearl drops were soaking her shoulder fabric. The both were in immense love with each other. But yet sacrificing the love.
After like decade standing there in each other's arm Manik felt Nandini's weight became stiff and her breath became uneven. He realised she was fallen asleep tired of all the exhausting affairs went throughout the day. He slowly took her sleeping petite frame in his arms and walked towards his bedroom.
After reaching there he carefully placed her on the bed and discarded her shoes. Then he with much affection changed her sweaty clothes into fresh nightwear.
After doing so he himself got changed and slided in the bed beside her and with much love and adoration pulled her body over his chest and called it a day hugging her tight to welcome another day with more complications.

Next morning Nandini stirred in her sleep and found Manik sleeping hugging her. She sighed and absent mindedly like a habit started caressing his messy hairs.
She knew these happiness were just for few days. These waking together sharing moments together going office together
Teasing each other together
Laughing together
Loving each other together
Falling in sleeping cuddling together
Were just for few days . Then ' Together ' would turned into 'alone' .
She sighed and recalled a cute moment of their college days
****** Flashback ( 6 years ago) ********
It was a really boring sunny September day . She was siting at the bunkers point but without bunking the class as it was their free period. Her friends were busy having fun themselves whereas being a quite conservative studious not-so-party-loving-girl she choose to ignore the loud fun and concentrate on the following day lecture notes plugging earphones of her mp3 player. She was so engrossed in her notes while she felt a wave in front of her.
She titled her head from her notes to the direction and found a boyishly smiling him.
" hii Nandini "
" hey Aryaman. What's up" she greeted him back. And saw him settling himself beside her with a gentleman reply " I am fine. Thanks for asking. "
She just replied flashing her smile and started finding the next topic to continue the conversation. She was on her own thoughts when she heard him breaking the awkward silence
" You alone here? Baki sab kahan hai? "
" Ermm.. wohh.. they're just roaming around. You say. Suddenly here at the bunkers point. I've never seen you at this place before. "
Were her straight reply. She noticed him became little uncomfortable with that.
" Woh actually I saw you sitting alone so thought to give you a little company. " he replied cautiously not to sound desperate.
" Aww this is really sweet of you. " she flashed her genuine smile which skipped his heartbeat. And without caring anything more he suddenly got up from his place causing her raising her eyebrows and kneeled down in front of her.
Nandini promptly became confused with his sudden act and before she could have him a calculative eye she heard him giving her another shock
" Nandini I love you. "
" huhhh !!! What ? " she screamed baffled gazing at his tensed face.
" yes Nandini I love you. I love from the fresher day I have seen you for the first time. You in a white churider and red dupatta. I just fell in love in a first sight. I have tried to express my feelings ample of times in this two years span but couldn't. Please accept me. I really do love you. "
Nandini's confused tired ears heard him stop conveying his feelings. And then she recalled every time Aryaman seeked chances to talk to her but she was always clouded with Fab5 or Manik for sure.
She took her own time to compose herself then sighing a deep breath replied politely
" Look Aryaman I really do appreciate your feelings but the truth is I can't accept it. You are a very good fellow but this love thing is totally not my cup of tea. Sorry I don't want to hurt you but it's the hard truth I can't love you. I am sorry. Please do understand."
Aryaman looked at her for the last time with his hopeful eyes but her strong yet apologetic look was enough to convey her decision.
Accepting his breaking heart and rejected proposal he drew a soft hurt smile and walked away.
" Counting 8 "
Just she saw Aryaman fading away from the college campus she felt a pat on her shoulder.
She turned and found Cabir with his 'Gotcha' look.
" huh? " confused she looked at him for clear explanation.
" it's 8th wickets down !! " he smirked and she understood that he made out the whole scenario happened just minute before.
She sadly shrugged her shoulder and again took her place. Cabir smiled and sat beside her.
" soo... Manik or you ? " he asked mischievously.
Nandini turned around his side adjusting her notes and gestured 'What?'.
" that guy. That 8th number. Usse Manik ne vagaya or our beloved Nandi, the bail did the honour? " he commented sarcastically
" Cabirr !! " she sighed and then said " Main ne. "
" ohhhkkk " he shrugged and then both fell into huge laughter.
" yaar Nandi it was the 8th proposal in these two years. Either Manik scared them hell out of their poor lives or else you politely rejected them. I mean come on dude don't you feel having a boyfriend? Look at us. Me. I have... "
He was cut in middle and she continued " Like you have different girlfriends in every next week? "
They both laughed and then she again took charge and said " Cabir this love thing is not my kind of. I mean my love life will be magical devoid of any complications. So let me wait for the best. "
Cabir gave her a affectionate smile and side hugged her saying
" it will be the best. Trust me. Nehi toh our hulk will not spare that poor one "
They both joked on his sarcasm. Just then they heard the famous oh-so-die-for husky voice
" Bickering about me? "
Both chuckled and Cabir commented on her ear " Speak of the devil "
And Nandini completed " And monster is here. "
" What's up. " Manik came with rest of Fab5 members and straight took place beside the other side of Nandini encircling his hand around her shoulder pulling her from Cabir's hold towards him possessively.
Cabir chuckled on his friend's possessiveness towards that petite girl who was always been the centre attraction of Manik.
" How perfect they are looking together !!! "
Cabir smiled on his thoughts wondering them together as a couple but looked like it was hell of impossible.
Swiping those crazy thoughts he came back to his cool sarcastic form and announced
" Guys another lover boy aaj sahid ho gaya. Nandi just received her 8th proposal and as usual she rejected. Taliaa "
Where the rest of four hooted where one pair of eyes suddenly changed their colors into anger one.
" What? Who was that? Koun tha woh? Tell me . Who the doughback he was? " Manik started throwing anger glares to that poor guys.
The all Fab5 chuckled in his raged well known expression while Nandini took his hand on her and said " Manik come down.
" calm down? Aree.. why would I? That guy proposed you. I mean he had that guts to propose my best friend. And you're asking me to calm down? Kaise Nandu ? "
Nandini rolled her eyes being annoyed whereas Cabir and Mukti chuckled. Dhrub slightly smiled feeling the pain of not sharing his own liking feelings for Nandini and Aliya was fuming with their closeness and possessiveness for which she was trying since she had met Manik like from the first day of college. But he just smartly avoiding her still.
" Yaar Manik what's your problem? Yaar just because of your stupid protectiveness nah she will always be this alone. "
Mukti commented just to received Manik's famous death glare.
" who is saying that she is alone? I am with her. We all are here with her. Then ? " Came a stern reply from him.
" yes Manik we all are here. But at the end of the day we all need someone special in our lives. " Aliya dreamily stated drooling over Manik's oh-so-delicious features.
" Bullshit. " came another I- don't-care reply of Manik.
Then Nandini said " She is right Manik. No matter how many time we keep denying but the fact is eventually one day we really need someone in our life. And the other sheer fact is abhi hum jitna bhi sath kyun na ho , one day we needed to be apart due to situation's demand. Nothing is constant. Everything is irrelevant. Nothing is definite. Ek na Ek din toh aalag hona hi parega. "
Everyone seemed to be satisfied with her words without the One whose tensed confused slightly hurt, bewitched pair of magnificent brown eyes who were gazing her in disbelief.
That discussion went on like that with usual teasing making funs. But in these during all things everybody noticed the charm of their charming group was sitting completely lost in his own thoughts.
Few hours later
" what happened Monster? Why so serious? " Nandini playfully teased him while settling her car seat belt.
Manik didn't uttered anything but started driving back home.
The entire journey Nandini noticed unexpected silence in Manik unlike so Manik-ish. It really confused her. But she thought to ignore it as her monster best buddy's mood swings were even more challenging than a pregnant woman.
The car halted at the entrance of the huge Malhotra Mansion which itself was carrying the aura of richness and class.
Nandini was about to hopped down of the car when suddenly Manik grabbed her right arm and asked
" jo tumne kaha about aalag hona is that true? I mean you said that one day everyone will go apart. No one can stay together . Do you really meant that? "
He asked. His voice was unusually cold.
Nandini kept staring his not-so-his eyes. His eyes. His dark brown talkative ocean of truth eyes. The mirror of his heart. His perfectly shaped eyes.
She tried to recall the source of his sudden out of the way thoughts. Then she realised the matter and replied smilingly
" Hmm. Yes. It's the truth of life. "
And then she heard something which really shook her soul to the core
" Then I will change that truth of life. I will never ever leave your side. I will never let you be alone. I will never ever let you leave me alone. We will be together. Forever. Dekhlena. Wait and watch. No one can separate us. Not even the Almighty of yours. Mark my words. Its a promise of Manik Malhotra. We will be TOGETHER FOREVER. HUMESHA. "

Nandini left the big sigh recalling that promise Manik had made that day. And she didn't know why but her heart that day threw a open challenge to the law of nature of constancy. Because she knew her Manik won't ever leave her alone. They would be together. Forever.
Another sigh escaped cursing her frustrated complicated life along with with those tear drops who were shouting her failure. And forcing her biggest strength , her love to loose his promise.
She slowly detangled herself from his protective embrace and got out of the bed.
Her slowly walking away towards the washroom from his sleeping form was killing brutally their " Together forever " promise along with shattering their souls.
" they love each other. They want each other. But then why they're not fighting with the Complications rather than fighting with each other? Complications have made their mind so complicated that they have actually forgotten the way to fight with those complications. Ohhh freak !!! Why it's so complicated "
The Almighty shouted annoyingly clutching his spinning head.
