'mood swings' Cavya os

Navya was sitting on the bed. She was very quiet. She wasn't moving just like a statue. If someone saw her now, they would be thinking that she was in deep prayers. Maybe she was. But the one person who saw her found it quite hilarious. The girl who was always prancing around in the house was so quiet today.

Okay, it is quite true that Navya was having many mood swings these days. After all, she was pregnant. But he never saw her like this. Maybe it was a new one. He sat down beside her. She didn't look up but she sat like a statue.

"Navya?"

Navya turned to face Cabir. There were no expressions on her face. Cabir found it funny but a bit scary too.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yes" she said, expressionless.

Okay, something was definitely wrong. He kept a hand on her shoulder. She faced him once again. But this there was an expression on her face. It was fear.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"Cabir, I just remembered what amma said. She would never allow me or our child in her house. She disowned us." She said.

"Navya, relax."

"Cabir, I'm scared. I want to talk to her. I want to lay my head on her lap and hear her sing. What did I do? This wasn't supposed to be. She was right. She sent me here to study, not to make babies"

Cabir found the last line a bit funny but he didn't dare laugh.

"I know even you miss your mother. Do you think that we were wrong? I know we weren't but I still doubt it." Navya said.

"Of course we are right Navya. Yes, I miss mom. But I have fab 5 and you. I guess that's enough for me." He replied.

"Cabir I am afraid of being alone."

"You are not alone. We are always with you. I am always with you." He held her hand.

"But you won't be here all the time. I mean after college. You'll probably get married to some guy and go away. I will be alone. Everyone will get so busy in their lives."

"Navya, I am not getting married. Gay marriage is not legal in India. Anyways, I am not interested. Maybe we can live together. Maybe you'll get married." He said.

"I won't. I am done with love. I love somebody who can never love me back."

Oops, she said it out loud. She loved Cabir. He was like her soulmate. But they could never be together. Cabir wondered why she was still not over Harshad. She deserved better.

"Let life take its course." Cabir said.

She smiled at him and laid her head on his shoulder. This mood swing was difficult to handle. Who knows what's next in store for them. He begins to sing "Jeena Jeena" for her. She laughs and closes her eyes praying that this moment never ends.
