Yes, Nandini was not responding to the treatment and why would she? There was no one waiting for her. But the truth was different. Manik was scared when the doctor told him this. He just rushed towards the ICCU. The doctor protested him but Cabir said " please let him go in. Bas aik baar usko ander jaane do please" After several requests Doctor allowed Manik to go in.
Manik rushed in. He froze at his place when he saw Nandini lying lifeless. Her face was pale and there were dark circles below her eyes. Her hands were covered with syringes and bandages. She was supplied with continuous glucose and saline. Manik came forward and looked closely at her. He for the first time noticed her face so closely. He thought 'she is so beautiful. How can someone be so innocent and naive. What have I done to her. But I promise I would make it up to her'
The tears were making their way out from his eyes. He leaned down and softly kissed her and said " Nandini I am sorry please forgive me!! I am so sorry for hurting you!! But I promise I will make it up to you. I LOVE YOU NANDINI and I can't let you go suna tumne I will not let you go." After saying this he hugged her. He found his solace and peace which he never found with Jenny. Just as Manik left her she started breathing heavily. Manik immediately called Doctor.
The doctor panicked and called the ward boys. He shifted her to the OT.
The doctor started the operation.
Manik was pacing outside the OT impatiently. Cabir came and hugged him. Manik started crying and said between his sobs " I cannot afford to lose her. I am nothing without her."
After 5 hours of operation the Doctor came out. Manik immediately got up and asked him " How is she?". The Doctor said "Mr Malhotra the operation was successful but she still needs to gain consciousness if she wakes up its good or else she will slip into coma." This was enough for Manik he just fell down and started crying very badly. Cabir was amazed to see The Manik Malhotra crying like this for a mere girl. Though now he knew that she is very important to him. Cabir asked the Doctor " Can we go in?". Doctor nodded and went away. Cabir then turned towards Manik and said "Aise jayega apni Nandini ke paas. Bohot khush hogi na vo tujhe aisedekh kar." Manik got up and hugged Cabir again and after composing himself he went inside. He went towards her and sat on the stool beside the bed. He started talking to her " Nandini please uth jao na please. I am sorry na, itni badhi punishment dogi mujhe?? Aik bar uth jao phir tumhe jo karna hai kar lena please!!!" And he started crying. Just then Cabir saw Nandini fidgeting with her eyes. Cabir called Manik and told him to go and wash his face. Manik went out. Meanwhile Nandini finally opened her eyes and saw Cabir standing in front if her. Cabir said " I am angry with you!!! Apna dhyaan rakhna nahi aata hai. Sab ka dhyaan rakhegi par apna nahi" . Nandini smiled seeing Cabir scolding her so lovingly. She tried to get up and place her back on the head board but could not so Cabir helped her in doing it. She lightly held her ears and muttered a sorry. Cabir smiled and said its okay and gave a peck on her forehead. After 15 minute minutes Nandini started looking around. Cabir noticed this and said " Manik aaya hai. He is standing outside. Teen din se soya nahi hai.Jab tum uthi nahi thi to ro roke bura haal kar rakha tha and now that you are awake to soch raha hoga tumhe face kaise kare" .
Meanwhile Manik was standing outside and figuring out how to face Nandini. He was afraid thinking what if she does not forgive him. Finally after 20 minutes he came in carrying a fake smile.
He saw Nandini laughing on some silly joke cracked by Cabir. He was mesmerised by her. In these three months never had he seen her laugh like this. He moved towards her. Cabir noticed Manik coming and said " Lo here he is, kahan tha be tu?" And winked at Nandini to indicate that he will lie. Manik said without making eye contact " I went to the washroom." Cabir started laughing and Nandini smiled. Cabir then excused himself to get coffee and give them some privacy. Manik sat on the stool beside Nandini's bed. Nandini was not looking at him the whole time and this was hurting him because the woman who used to look at him with utmost love was not sparing him even a glance. Manik kept his hand on her's but she gently took her hand away. To break the silence Nandini said in an ice cold tone " Aaj to you had an important meeting na to what are you doing here?" Manik realised how much he had hurt her. He replied in a very soft and loving voice " Nothing is more important than you". Nandini became surprised by his reply. Manik continued " I am sorry!!! Nandini I am really sorry I know I have hurt you very badly and a sorry can do nothing but please forgive me I promise to make it up for you" and Manik started sobbing. Nandini looked at himand said " Manik I am not feeling well can you please leave for sometime". She then tried to lay down but couldn't. Manik helped her to lay down and before he could say anything Nandini closed her eyes. Manik just pecked on her forehead and sat on the couch placed in the corner of the room and admired her sleeping.
