Manik & Nandini - Stars & Fireflies 80

People often ask what is love? how do you know its love? well there's no concrete answer to this question love is air you can feel, love is the sun making your dull days bright, love is the stars which won't leave you alone even in the darkest nights and love is the stardust to make life magic..

it was a beautiful and bright morning when nandini opened her eyes feeling fresh then usual..more energetic and more happy..maybe that's what happens when you realize you will be going home from a pathetic hospital bed...the moment she realized she's going home a big smile appeared on her face..she stretched her hands to find manik but instead found nothing.. "manik..manik.." she called his name but was shocked to hear abhi's voice "kya baat hai junior malhotra pe bahut pyaar aa raha hai?" she turned red and was embarrassed.. "ahh nothing..I t.." she was looking for words but her brain froze and she couldn't answer.. she cursed herself silently.."what was the need to say manik...first thing in the morning.. nandu bhagwan ka naam le subh subh dracula ka nahi.." "hhmmm" abhi's voice again broke her chain of thoughts "i am still waiting for your answer but any ways lemme answer this for you manik is completing the formalities of your discharge mom and dj are on their way with your food and im being your body guard for the time being.." nandini smiled hearing him but suddenly she asked "how are things with juliet romeo?" and this time it was abhi's turn to blush.."hmm im taking her for dinner tonight to propose her let's see.."

as abhi and nandini were having some sweet leg pulling session amidst lot of laughter and fun dj and damini walked and greeted nandini with a wide smile.. "so all set to go home?" dj asked nandini and nandini smiled excitedly and "yes i just can't wait to get back home.." dj smiled and planted a sweet kiss on her forehead.. soon nandini finished her breakfast and dj and abhi took her leave and went to college... damini was waiting till manik would return but she kept looking at her watch every now and then and was getting restless.. sensing that something's bothering her nandini held her hand and asked "is everything ok aunty?" damini smiled and replied "its badi manik for you too like manik.." while placing her other hand on nandini's she continued "i've some unfinished business to take care with neyonika.. she had damaged manik and dj enough and i can't let that happen any more but nandini don't tell manik about this.." she requested leaving nandini confused "but why?" nandini asked so damini replied again "you know how manik is he will again get into i can handle anything you don't need to get in trouble mood but nandini he is 19 year old boy who should have only stupid problems in life like how to win my girl friend back.." she winked and nandini blushed.. nandini assured damini that she won't tell manik anything..

just as both the ladies were discussing on manik's well being manik walked wearing a white tee blue jeans and blue stone washed denim jacket... the two day old stubble made him looked ruggedly handsome so much so that even nandini's eyes pooped out of their sockets... she always knew that he was insanely loog looking.. being a bhartiya naari that too from the 90's nandini was too shy to say it out loud but she secretly admitted to herself that every time he appeared in front of her with that killer smirk, those deep eyes, the perfectly gelled up or even some times messy hair also, his biceps and his tattoo when he wore vest while sleeping made her go week on her knees... manik guessed nandini what nandini was thinking; he mentally smiled and wished badi maa with a smile.. he went slowly near to her and kept on moving very near making nandini's heart almost stop.. "I know i'm ruggedly handsome..stop lusting like that..." he smirked and nandini rolled her eyes as he was looking at her but she looked down in embarrassment.. manik smiled further and whispered "but i love it when you look at me like that..." badi maa cleared her throat to break their secret talks.. manik soon moved away from nandini as badi maa was smiling.. "so manik is she all ready to go home?" damini asked and manik replied with a smile looking at nandini "yes badi maa.."

soon damini packed nandini's stuff and made her change; nandini wore a light blue patiala and a white loose kurti .. since few of her ribs were broken nandini had some difficulty in walking.. damini called for manik who was waiting outside.. as son as manik entered he saw nandini trying to get down from her bed he shouted.."nandini.." which left both damini and nandini scared. "are you mad?" he came near her and said "princess doctor has a asked you to take bed rest and here you are preparing to run a marathon.." manik said all worried.. he quickly picked her up in his arms and said "till doctor certifies you are fit to walk this is how you will travel.." making nandini blush and badi maa go all aww... manik placed her comfortably in the back seat of her car and asked her zillion times if she's ok... then he asked badi maa to come but she made an excuse that she need to back in mansion and get lunch for nandini...soon after bidding good bye to badi maa manik drove nandini to her home albeit at snail pace making sure she is comfortable...

as soon as manik picked nandini back in his arms after reaching her home they found chachi and cabir already waiting to welcome her back home with a broad smile... Cabir being cabir as soon as he saw them in same blue and white combination of cloths said "are waah you two are being color coordinated abhi se?" and burst out laughing along with chachi and rishabh while manik rolled his eyes saying "Cabir you are so dead.." chachi interrupted them saying "chalo baaki ka session baad mein.." chachi did aarti and asked manik to take nandini to her room.. as soon as nandini entered her room she found it to be the same way as she had left in fact it was something more then what she had left.. it was all decked up again in pink and red roses and huge welcome home banner along with a cute smiley made her smile...

she looked at manik as she knew it was him.. but manik was not good at taking compliments said "what.." she nodded in a nothing... he placed her carefully on bed and covered her up with a quilt it was brand new pink coloured mink quilt with a blue inscription in huge words "missed you nandini..".. everything in her room was brand new from the cushions to her bed everything and everything was either "missed you" or "welcome back.." manik was about to go out when nandini held his hand and said "i know you don't like compliments but thanks manik.. no one has ever done this for me.." manik smiled and sitting next to her he said "nandini when i call you princess i mean it you rule me, me heart, my world.. in fact you are my heart and my world.. the happiness that i'm experiencing is cause of you and what you are giving me all this is nothing.. its just my small way of showing how much you mean to mean..and now rest and don't start crying.." he said seeing swelling tears in her eyes.. she said smiling "can you do a favour to me? can you ask mukti and alya to come and meet me but separately.. i wanna talk to them.." manik was confused but he trusted nandini as she won't do anything hasty.. she called mukti and alya to come and meet her...

it was around 2 pm in the afternoon post lunch when manik, nandini and cabir were rehearsing for the play when mukti walked in with not so pleasant expression... mukti made even a more weirder face watching cabir and nandini being buddies but hiding it she hugged manik and cabir and that was exactly when nandini asked the boys to leave the room and close the door.. "why can't you talk in front of us?" cabir demanded to which nandini simply said "girl talk" and looked at manik who understood their need for privacy... he dragged cabir along with him closing the door.. nandini greeted mukti with a sweet smile who just for the sake of being polite smiled back devoid of any warmth..

after repeatedly being asked to have a seat..mukti pulled up a chair and sat and that's when nandini decided to speak.. "mukti i know you and i never spoke.. i know you don't like me and i even know the reason cause you think im the one for whom manik broke up with alya and i kknow you and alya are soul sisters... i know manik and alya were hope for you when you needed to look for love.. i don't know what happened with you..who broke a beautiful soul of yours but i do know that when manik left alya you broke once again.. i know you are even angry at manik cz you hold him responsible" mukti tried to cut nandini in between but nandini silenced her by putting her finger on her lips.. "but mukti you need to understand love is not about expensive gifts, late night parties or making out.. love is about when two hearts beating as one..love is when you love that person without expecting anything..love is when that person's happiness means the world to you..love is when even his/her name brings a smile on your face and make you blush..love is what abhi has for you mukti.." mukti was shocked on hearing such a beautiful description of love.. "yes mukti abhi loves you very very much..so much so that he even takes in your hate as love..tonight he is planning to take you out for dinner and propose.. give him and his love a chance you never know how beautiful life can turn out..." mukti was awe struck and all she could do was 'hmm" and she walked off but nandini knew she had struck the right chords and started praying to aiyappa...

down stairs manik and cabir were waiting and getting tensed... more then cabir it was manik who was tensed.. he was neither able to sit at once , nor tand, nor pace.. "stop moving like an expectant fathe? nandini aur mukti sirf baat kar rahe hai nandini labour mein nahi hai?" he burst laughing.. "cabir joke hi hadh hoti hai saale.. tujhe pata hai na mukti kitni rude ho sakti hai.. agar usne kuch bol diya toh.." even cabir got serious as he knew mukti's temper..just as they were pondering mukti walked down and seeing manik she ran into his arms hugging him tightly.. manik was taken aback by this sudden display love.. she broke the hug and said "thank you for falling in love with nandini.." and ran away in excitment.. manik and cabir were both stunned and shocked.. as they were still coming to terms with what has happened alya walked in and asked for nandini's room and cabir who was still in shock pointed towards her room..

alya slowly opened her door and walked in when nandini welcomed her too with a warm smile which alya too responded with same warmth.. nandini knew alya was somehow like her but her circumstances never let her show her heart to anyone not even to manik with whom she was madly in love.. "thanks for coming alya.." nandini said to which alya replied as "i was meaning to come just that was a little busy that's it.." nandini smiled and replied "its ok.." she continued.. "alya i know we didn't start off very well.. but what you and manik had and what manik and I have we don't need to carry that between us.. you and i can always start fresh.. i know you didn't get they guy you loved but alya you deserve better.. you deserve a guy who loves you so much that you just go insane..you.." and before nandini could say anything alya took her in a bone crashing hug while crying and sobbing.. "thank you nandini.. thank you so much.. no one understood me all these years the way you understand me.. and i promise you and i will never have manik malhotra come in between us.." she said while wiping her tears.. "so friends" nandini extended her hand to which alya said "forever.." and hugged her..

all this was seen by someone else too and that was none other than manik and cabir who could not stop their tears...alya broke her hug with nandini and took leave from her as she needed rest.. on her way out she found a teary eyed manik who was trying to say something but alya susshed him by sayin "no need manik.. we've been friends longer then lovers and thanks for falling in love with her..." she hugged him and walked off..

manik walked in alone as cabir wanted to give him some lone time and went away in the pretext of dropping alya home.. "nandini.." manik was about to start his elaborate thank you princess speech when nandini cut in between and said "you heard everything na too bad.." she pulled his nose and smiled and continued "i know manik you are incomplete without me but you are incomplete with them too.. nandini and fab5 complete manik malhotra and before you start thanking me and be great full to me let me remind you its all about one step at a time.." she smiled and manik just took her in a hug like he is never gonna let her go ever...

so this what you do in love.. this is how you knw is love when you make efforts to complete them, make them smile.. when you find your smile in them.. nandini found her smile in manik long time back and now manik too traced the source of his smile..nandini..
