Chapter 33
Scene 1----*----( 11 pm..Nandini's place)---*----
Nandini looked outside the window but there was no one.. Nandini" aaiappa.. This guy na...huh.. Ye ladka. He loves playing around.. I hate him.."
And She heard a husky voice near her ear " Really?"
Nandini panicked and screamed " aaiapp..". But she couldn't complete as a hand had covered her mouth. Someone wrapped her waist from behind, pulled her towards him and shushed her.. Nandini was familiar with the touch, she knew the voice.. But she was horrified at the fact that he was there in her room.. She bit his hand and he winced " aaaooo.."
Nandini turned and freaked " Manik.! What .. What r u doing here..? Tum.. Tum.. kaise .yaha.. Matlab... How.. ? Matlab Why.?"
Manik " First decide what do u want to ask.. What .. How or why..." He said in a breath and cried again " ahhh.. My hand !.." clenching his teeth.
Nandini was shocked, surprised, confused and what not.. Her face was frowny.. She took his hand in her and saw the marks of her teeth. She uttered " aaiappa.." and rubbed his hand with her thumb
Manik was trying not to smile.. And he uttered " ahhh.. Don't.. Don't.. Its hurting.. I'm right about u.. U are phoolan !. " leaving her mouth open.. And he couldn't control and chuckled.
Nandini left his hand and hit his chest hard. Manik laughed loud.. Nandini's eyes got widened with that and she put her hand on his mouth.. Nandini" shhh.. Manik..! Amms's room is just next to mine."
Manik held her hand that was on his mouth and moved her hand a little away from his lips.. And he kissed her hand while looking into her eyes.. Nandini was dumbstruck.. She opened her mouth to say something but she couldn't utter a word..
Manik left her hand and while shrugging his shoulders , he said " What? U bit my hand.. So I did this. Tum phoolan ho.. But m not kadva.. Okay.." and he winked at her and smiled mischievously.
Nandini jerked him away and he giggled. Nandini pleaded " Manik. shhh.. Dhere.. Koi aa jaega.."
Manik " so? I don't care"
Nandini gritted her teeth and said " but I do.." and she rushed to the door and latched it..
Nandini walked to him saying " Why did u come here..? How u entered in my room?"
Manik " Why? Bczzz.. I want to TALK to u.. And how..? Hmmm.. Well... I rang the door bell. Ur chachi opened the door.. And I'm here.."
Nandini " Shut up Manik..! If that would have been the case, chachi would have called me downstairs.."
Manik " acha.. ? Ahh.. Okay.. Toh... Cinematic liberty.."
Nandini " What.?"
Manik coolly " tchh... Nandini.. U don't watch movies? Do they show how hero enters in heroine's room? Nooo.."
Nandini annoyingly "ye koi movie ya show nahi h .. Don't tell me u sneaked from this window"
Manik didn't pay heed to her question and walked to her bed. He sat on the bed, removed his shoes and fell on the bed with a thud and yawned.. Nandini was going mad seeing his actions..
Nandini walked to Manik and while gritting her teeth she said " Manik.. Just get up and wapas jao.. U and me.. in my room.. at this unearthly hour of time.. Gooo..". while showing eyes to him.
Manik raised his eyebrows and asked " Why.. Are u getting any ideas?" and he winked at her adjusting the pillow behind his back.. And he took out his cell and called someone leaving her annoyed.
Scene 2 --------------*--------* ( 11.15 pm , Aaliya's place)-------------*---------*-
Aaliya and mukti were lying in bed.
Aaliya to Mukti " Go home! M fine!"
Mukti "tchhh.!. I'm sleepy. Don't disturb me.." Suddenly Mukti's phone rang. It was Manik's call.
Mukti on phone " hell yaar.! First Dhruv, then Cabir and now u. Why can't u guys let me sleep..(pause) Yes..! She is fine..! And don't worry I'm here to look after her.. Dare not call me again.." and she hung up.. And her phone rang again.. It was Cabir's call
Mukti fumed and said to aaliya " Fifth time.. This is the Fifth he is calling me.. He knows i'm sleepy.. Jan k call Kr rha h.." she clenched her teeth and switched her cell off.. And covered her face with pillow.
Aaliya smiled and said " this girl na..!". She sighed and was about to turn the lights off when she found Aryamann's notes on her side table. She picked that bundle of papers and walked to the balcony.. Her eyes fell on the tides and she recalled Aryamann's sad words.. She made herself sit on a chair and opened the first page.. She found that those papers were no notes but something else.. She started reading it and found that it was a story.. She uttered " Aryamann has written this..? Noo.. Noo. He said notes hain.." And she continued with her reading.
It was a story of two childhood friends who were there for one another in their bad and good times.. The Girl had lost her parents when she was 9.. And the Boy's parents got divorced when he was 14.. But they never let one another feel sad or alone.
Aaliya read a line " I said.. She said. And we never let either talk.. We spoke so much.."

Aaliya kept on reading.. She read another line " and one day dadi announced that we both behave as Gf and Bf.. Everyone was laughing.. She also laughed like anything.. But my sister had winked at me and then I found myself dumbstruck.. Why did dadi say so? Why my sister winked at me? Is it so? Do we behave as gf and bf? I thought to myself.. And it was when I realized I love her more than a friend."
Aaliya was about to turn the next page but stopped seeing Mukti there.. Mukti was standing right in front of her with her arms crossed across her chest.. Mukti "Why u all are after my life.. Listen Aaliya. U need rest.. Please.."
Aaliya " Mukti.. I.. I.." She took a pause and uttered " fine".. Aaliya closed that manuscript but thought to herself " this writing style is somewhat known... Ahhh.. I'm overthinking"
Scene 3 ----*-----(11. 15 pm, Nandini's place)----------*-----------
Nandini was getting mad and mad. Nandini " Manikkk.. Aise Kisi k room me sneak krna. This is..."
Manik while opening his eyes wide " this is an offence..! Hai na..!. Haaaww.. Call police..! But before that, shout loud for help.. Ur voice will definitely reach to ur amms.." . Nandini was looking at him in disbelief.
Manik " U don't wanna shout..? Okay..! I will shout.. " and he opened his mouth wide but Nandini immediately leaned over him and put her hand on his lips..
Nandini in a low voice" Manik !. Please! ". And she shook her head in a No.. She pleaded as if she was a kid who was pleading his teacher not to report her complaint to his parents.. Manik held her hand that was on his lips and smirked.. Nandini saw his smirk and tried to get her hand free from his grip. But he didn't let her do so.. Rather he held her waist and pulled her closer.. And in a moment she fell on him
Their faces were closed. She was awestruck, nervous and speechless at the same time.
Her beautiful hair was falling on his face.. And while looking into her eyes, he kissed her hand for one more time.
Nandini " Maa.. .."
Manik " shhh.. " and he left her hand and moved his hand to her face.. His long fingers rubbed against her cheek and she closed her eyes.. He tugged the hair strands that were falling on his face behind her ear.. He recalled the night when he had sneaked into her tent in the jungle. He touched her soft earlobe.. Nandini opened her eyes. Manik was looking at her earlobe.. He recalled that her earring had fallen off her ear and had stuck to his shirt.. He smiled at the thought that he still has that earring with him...
Nandini was looking at him confusingly.. Manik looked at her beautiful pouty lips.. He slid his hand from her waist to her neck. He pulled her closer and raised his head a little.. He closed his eyes. Their lips were about to meet just then he heard her saying " Manikk."
Manik opened his eyes.. Nandini had tightly closed her eyes and there was a frown on her forehead.. Nandini opened her eyes and found him intensely and confusingly gazing at her..
Nandini " Manik.. I think.. It's going too fast.. I... I.. don't want to rush into.. U know.. I .."
He was dumbstruck for a moment. And he moved his head back and took his hands off her.. Nandini was surprised. She straighten herself..
Manik was amazed seeing her innocence and was surprised at his own behavior. He thought to himself " If she were any other girl I wouldn't have let her go so easily." He mentally smiled at his thoughts.. He rested his head on the pillow and closed his eyes.. Nandini felt bad.
Nandini " don't take me wrong.. Manik.. I.."
Manik opened his eyes and said " shhh.. I know u r a tortoise. M tired and sleepy.. Let me sleep for a while.."
Nandini was awestruck.. She was amazed seeing how he had changed the topic without letting her give explanation.. She thought to herself while looking at him " yes! U r right.. U r not kadva.. And I'm a phoolan and..and a tortoise too..! Huh.. Slow! " and she smiled at her own thoughts and bit her lower lip.
Manik saw her biting her lip and he thought to himself " ahh..! Nandini k aaiappa..! This girl na.. huh.. Tell her not to instigate me to... Huh.."
And he closed his eyes to avoid looking at her.. Nandini smiled and leaned to him. She placed her head on his chest. This made him open his eyes.. She wrapped his hand around her waist. . Manik was surprised.
Manik" Nandini! Now What r youuu doing ..?"
Nandini just repeated his lines " shh.. M tired and sleepy.. Let me sleep for a while..". And she wrapped her arm around him.
Manik was amazed how she didn't let him feel offended by placing her head on his chest and cuddling to him.. Both smiled and closed their eyes..
After some time Nandini opened her eyes and said " u know what Manik.. I was really afraid when I saw u fighting with Harshad.. I won't ask u why u hate him so much.. untill u tell me urself.. But u have to promise me that u won't do that again.. " and she raised her head to look at him.. And to her surprise he was asleep and his mouth was a little open.
Nandini chuckled seeing that and uttered surprisingly " he sleeps with his mouth open?"
He was looking like a small baby sleeping peacefully.. She uttered in a low voice " U came to TALK to me. Aur so gye..? Fine.. let's do ONE way conversation.. I will talk . U listen.. ummm.. Tired na. What a long day it was.. But it's all ur fault. Tum bhi na Manik.. har jagah, har waqt, har baar, baar baar mere peeche aate ho.." she was complaining..
But continued with a smile " But Ab se u don't have to come after me bcz ab main har jagah, har waqt, har baar, baar baar tumhare peeche aaungi.." And she again placed her head on his chest and said "NANDINI PROMISE". She moved her hand to the table next to her bed without disturbing Manik.. She opened the drawer and took out a watch from it.. It was Manik's watch that had fallen off in her tent in the jungle..
Nandini put that watch in the pocket of his blazer.. She again placed her head on his chest.. She rolled her eyes over the things in the room while smiling endlessly.. And her smile vanished as she realised that it was her room and Manik was there.. She uttered " aaiappa..! Manik toh so gya.."
She held his hand that was on her waist and tried to get herself free from his grip.. But Manik had tightly clenched her spaghetti top.. Nandini thought to herself " I shouldn't disturb him. He is tired. I will make him wake up early.." . And she rested her head on his chest again while trying to remain awake.
Scene 4 ------------- ( ONE HOUR PASSED, Nandini's room)-------------------
Nandini was sleeping peacefully with her head resting on Manik's chest.. Manik tried moving in his sleep but couldn't.. And he woke up. He found her asleep resting her head on his chest.. He smiled seeing his sleeping beauty and uttered in a low voice " hmm.. I came to TALK to u.. I took a nap for a minute and u tired tortoise.. So gai..?" and he sighed and continued "I know today u went through a lot.. But It won't happen again. I'll try.. Tchhh.. I can't promise.. That bloody jerk .." he stopped and caressed her hair softly.
This made her move her head from his chest to the other side of bed.. And she was about to fell from bed but Manik immediately held her shoulder. He slid himself away and placed the pillow under her head.. He dragged her towards himself. Nandini turned to other side. Now her back was facing him.. Two thin straps were supporting her spaghetti top. Her bare shoulders were inviting him to place his pecks there but somehow her controlled himself.. He moved to her face and whispered " I hate u.. Huh..". and while he was moving back he heard her murmuring " really?".
Manik looked at her face.. She was sleeping.. Manik was confused.. She murmured again "mmm..kadva karela" and he was surprised.. He uttered " She talks in sleep?" And chuckled.. And he quickly pecked her cheek saying " sorry can't help it.. But u r irresistible.."
Scene 5-------------*------(early morning, nandini's room)-----------*-----------------
It was early morning and Nandini was sleeping sound. Her shoulders were covered with a RED scarf..
Nandini opened her eyes a little and scenes of the last night flashed through her mind.. She panicked and woke up with a jerk. She looked at the other side of bed.. But Manik wasn't there.. She looked everywhere but he wasn't there.. She was about to jump from her bed just then she found a RED scarf lying in her lap.
She was surprised.. She picked it up.. It was as soft as a newborn's skin.. Her eyes fell on a note stick to her wrist.
She read it " Good Morning. tortoise." She bite her lips and blushed.. She read it further "RED is my favourite but I never knew it will become ur favourite too. Why u wearing this blush on ur cheeks..? Is the shade of this scarf orr... Ahem ahem.." Nandini was surprised.. She rubbed the stall against her cheeks and smiled..
" don't blush.. See u soon phoolan" and this left her mouth open.
"and muh band kro"
Nandini " this guy.! Haa.." She chuckled.. " he himself keeps his mouth open and he is telling me to..." she took a pause and uttered " I know u r trying to erase those bad memories from my mind.." And she smiled and said " ummm.. I Miss u Manik. Aj Sunday kyu h?"
Scene 6 ---------------*---(9am, auditorium, space academy)-------*-----------
Navya was walking to and fro in anger.. Fab4 were watching her..
Navya " Harshad aise kaise.. Wo itni ghatiya..." But she stopped seeing Aaliya..
Navya to cabir " Nandini theek h na? Hum kyu nhi the kal uske saath.. tume hum kabbab me haddi lag rhe the. Tum kyu hame hostel drop kr gye Cabir."
Mukti and Dhruv "hostel?"
Cabir " Madhubala.!. Chuck it and listen..! Nandini is fine. Just don't tell her that Pandit and Raghav planned to ruin our Sunday.. I mean don't tell her about this practice session.. We haven't told Manik.. Okay.. I will handle Harshad in my way.. U will keep ur mouth shut.."
Navya nodded.. Mukti to Aaliya and Dhurv " What's cooking between these two?"..
Pandit and Raghav came there. Pandit angrily "Harshad hasn't come yet.. What is this.?".
Raghav " Nandini and Manik bhi nhi hain.. Dhruv I told u to inform ur group.."
Dhruv gulped his saliva and uttered " sir.. Woh.."
Navya " Nandini.. Out of town h."
Pandit while raising his eyebrows " Oh.! Really..?"
Cabir smilingly " yaa..yaa.. Navya is right and Manik... Manik has very high fever !. ..."
Suddenly they heard Nandini's voice " Fever?" . And Everyone was shocked to see her except Panditji..
Panditji stared at Cabir and Navya. Navya to panditji " itni jaldi aa gai ye to.".. Panditji was still staring at them. Cabir and navya were embarrassed.
Panditji " Now Will anyone of u tell me where is Harshad..?".
Raghav looked at Aaliya. Aaliya shrugged her shoulders and shook her head in No.. Pandit left in anger. Raghav " start ur pratice. I will come.." and he also left.
Scene 7 ---*----*----(neyonika's office)----*-----*----
Neyonika to panditji " I hope ur preparations are going fine panditji"
Pandit " I was on leave yesterday. And I arranged this extra session but one student hasn't come yet.. And he is not even picking his phone.."
Neyonika " What.? How irresponsible.. What's his name"
Pandit" Harshad Saxena.."
Neyonika " Harsha..." she gritted her teeth and while plastering a fake smile she said " ohh! U carry on with ur practice session.. He will join u tomorrow. Space students can't behave this way.."
Pandit " I hope so. Bcz Harshad has never disappointed me. Well excuse me.. I should go now.."
Neyonika smiled and pandit left.
Neyonika immediately called someone..
Neyonika angrily " Why r u not picking panditji's call..? ( pause) What do mean by u won't come?. (pause) What? Fight? Manik.?. but Why? (pause) Girl? (pause).. Tell me her name.! Nandini Murthy? The girl who went to inter college competition with Manik? (pause). Come and meet me.. Right now. I want every single detail of that girl.." and she hung up.
Neyonika to herself "A girl can't be the reason behind ur CONFIDENCE.. No"
Scene 8----------*-------------(auditorium)-------------*--------------
Nandini to Cabir " Manik has fever..? But how.?.. Nooo.. He had no such symptoms"
And they heard Manik's voice " hello guys..". Everyone was shocked to see him there.
Nandini rushed to him and started checking his forehead, face and neck.. Manik was surprised and embarrassed.. And everyone was giggling except Aaliya.. She managed to smile a little..
Manik stopped her by holding her hand and asked " Nandini.. What r u doing?"
Nandini checked his wrist and turned to Cabir saying " Cabir.. He is fine. He has no fever.."
Manik surprisingly " fever?"
Cabir acting angry "oh really..! Manik u liar.! U don't have fever!". Manik understood that Cabir had told something to Nandini.
And then Cabir acted innocent " Nandini told us u didn't have any symptoms.."
Nandini " yaa. Last night. He had no such symptoms..". Manik's eyes got widened with that..
Cabir raised his eyebrow and asked " LAST NIGHT? Oh yeah"
Nandini's jaw dropped with that.. She explained " No. No. I.. We talked over phone.. He didn't come to see me last night..". And she shook her head in no.
Manik hide his face with his hand. And everyone laughed loud. Aaliya also smiled.. Nandini's face was flushed..
Cabir sat on a chair, holding his stomach while trying to control his laughter.. Nandini was damn embarrassed.. Manik eyed Cabir.
Cabir " Okay fine.. Fine.. " while trying hard not to laugh.
Mukti to Manik " who told u to come?"
Cabir while giggling " Nandini" Nandini nodded in no.
Manik annoyingly "What do mean by who told me? and does Nandini give me reminder to come to college?"
Dhruv " buddy.. They mean how u came to know about this extra class.. Sunday ko toh u sleep like anythiii..."
Manik surprisingly " Sunday!! Today is Sunday?"
Cabir who was trying to hold his laughter again burst into laughter and fell on floor.. Cabir " Oh my God.. Man-ek baba.. Ishq ne ye kya Kr dala?"
Everyone was giggling and laughing.. Manik was damn embarrassed. He looked at Nandini.. And now it was Nandini's turn to hide her face..
Nandini gave an excuse " Navya.. I will just come. " and she ran from there.
Manik " I'll also come.." But Mukti held his collar saying " kaha.. ruk ruk.. Pyaar kia to darna kya. Thoda embarrassment bnta h Manik.."
Scene 9 -----*----*---(outside Neyonika's office)--*----*-------
Pandit to Nandini " so u told ur amms?"
Nandini" sir.. I told u I can't.." and pandit nodded his head disbelieving her and left annoyingly.
Nandini was tensed.. Suddenly She heard aryamann's voice " Nandu. U r fine na?"
Nandini" What r u doing here?"
Aryamann" I went home to see u. Chachi told me u have extra class.. Anyways.. This teacher.. How he knows amms..?"
Nandini " Maddie.. long story... A few days back, Sir had asked me to stay back in class.. And then he told me k wo amms k student the Gurukul mein. And being her student he knows very well that she hates playback singing.. He asked me to tell amms that I want to become a professional playback singer. And Classical music me mera interest nahi h.."
Aryamann " but why didn't he tell u before?"
Nandini" He knew it from the very beginning that I am her granddaughter.. But he never wanted to mix his personal and professional life so he never told me.. But one day he got a call from amms. She told him that she is coming to see my classical music performance.. But that wasn't any classical music performace.. So he didn't let amms come here.. He had to lie to her bcz of me.. And that was when he had asked me to tell everything to amms.. But u know na.. I can't. She will never understand.. She won't ever let me enter into Playback singing... And I want to fulfill mom's wish.. I can't take risk. I don't have guts to tell her"
Aryamann" but Nandu.. U have to tell her one day.. What if she comes to know by some other means?"
Nandini " Wai to.. Panditji told me that someone had called amms and invited her to see my performance"
Aryamann was shocked " What.?"
Nandini " yaa.. Someone had called her.. But Nobody knows this thing.. And kisi ko kya milega ye baat amms ko disclose kr k"
Aryamann " Kaun ho skta h?"
Nandini shrugged her shoulders.
Harshad who was watching all this hiding behind a pillar clenched his teeth and said to himself " Nandini ! Who else... That enemy who has turned ur frnd and ... from friend he has turned ur lover boy.. Manik! Who else.."
