So.
I am just sick and tired of all this Nandini nitpicking it's killing my good mood..
1)As someone with extremely limited desi TV experience I really don't have much basis to compare but one of the first things I was told about this character was how she unlike the usual telly heroines who are passive in their love while letting the hero do all the pursuing, Nandu was a standout by being just as proactive in her relationship as the ML.
And yet, to this day, when Manik drops everything to chase after her, he's a passionate lover, but when she does it she has no life. Really.
2)Nandu is the moral compass of the show. Therefore she must be infallible. She cannot have weak moments, errors in judgments or blind spots. Because that's how it works. Absolutely.
3)Nandu wanted to participate in the fusion concert with Manik desperately and yet when she felt it was clouding her objectivity and complicating things, she offered to back down and chuck it all. At this point it was Manik himself who sold her the "hope" and promised that they could have it all, no compromises required. She took him at his word and that was just so dumb of her.
But of course this is not about Nandu's display of absolute trust in Manik(which is what he wanted in the first place).. No No this is about Nandu's blind, ignorant "hope". Now if only Nandini had "doubted" him again instead, we could have crucified her gleefully for her thinking mind atleast. Disappointed.
4)Let's say there was no fusion concert in the picture. What would have changed in her equation with Pandit? Absolutely nothing. He would have still been that authority figure with a connection to her past that makes her trust him, he would have still bullied and manipulated her into compliance, he would have still obsessively critiqued and intimidated her in his insane pursuit for "perfection". In short she would have been just as much a victim of emotional abuse as ever.
And yet everyone insists on toting the "fusion concert" as her blind spot. Like just by wanting a tangible, a whimsical gesture, it somehow diminishes her IQ.. what math is this I cannot understand?
5)When Manik breaks down and cries all over Nandini for his 'buddy' it's the most moving scene of the scene. When Nandini cries over being scolded and tyrannized, she's weak of course. Manik the most cynical character in the show is in consistent denial over the reality of his pseudo friendship with Dhrub sr. But that's okay because well, because. But generally known to be naive, face-value wali Nandini thinking her teacher, a world renowned artist endorsed by her college authorities and her guardian is a harsh taskmaster not a lecherous creep is stupid and bimboish. Duh.
*takes a deep breath*
I could go on for a bit but I think this should suffice for now.
