Part 10

Manik ran upstairs with enthusiasm of a 5yr old meeting his father

Yes !his dad

Although he was just 7 yrs old ( when Nandini was 5 yrs ) when his parents got divorced

Well , it happened just as Nyonika wanted she got or well say " won " me in her custody

Dad knew Nyonika well , but for my sake and for my future he stayed away for 3 yrs ,

Went off to US just to avoid fights in front of me ,

So that I had a secure environment or well a secure bubble which burst soon enough ..

But all through those years he was away , he never forgot a birthday or a festival

He wished me , sent me loads of gifts

While Nyonika was here with me , busy trying to get her hold on his business at the fullest ,

Not sparing even a glance at her own son .

And one day , she filed divorce

Dad came from US trying to convince her for my sake

Agreeing to every demand of her to sustain the marriage in an amicable way

Nothing survived

For Nyonika I was a weapon

In her battle of power ...

I walked in , and hugged him

Well ! isn't that you do , for he was my only family other than fab5 !

" dad!! U know ..."

" u already messaged me a hundred times about it ...how can I forget it ?"

"by the way dad ...did someone come here ?" I asked him when I saw 2 cups on the table

, trying to remove my curiosity whether it was actually Nandini who I saw or just my mirage

"yaa ..." dad said excitedly

" it was Nandini ...remember I used to tell you about Rajeev ( Rajeev murthy )...his small daughter from US ..."

I was dumbstruck

I faintly remembered dad telling about a girl in my childhood , he praised her sweetness , I guess

She was Nandini ...my Nandini ...shitt!!

"Dad ...u mean Nandini murthy " I asked excitedly

"Yaa ...come on beta ...why are you getting soo excited ...!"

"Dad ! she is the girl ...its Nandini "

"What ??" he sounded soo astonished and anger was slowly seething his face now .

"Yaa ...wow !!! dad ...u know her since childhood naa !! omg ! its soo amazing .. I still cant believe that ..."

" That it was my doll who you left ..."

"Dad ...please ..." I pleaded

"It was my doll who suffered so much"

Unable to take his words anymore , lone tears trickled on my stubble , I sat down

Suddenly a catharsis of emotions unfolded in front of my eyes

I kept my head on his lap , well that's what you do when you remember the worst things of you life don't you ?

" yes dad...it was her "

"dad !...u ll help me this time again right ?"

He lifted my face ,

" I will , I promise "

" dad ...u r the best !"

" u know during childhood naa ..."

he spoke now with a delight , not that I missed a single syllable of what he said

We both talked long about her , her childhood , about her cute antics which stole hearts ,

About her innocence

Today after years , I found that life could be surprising

That life indeed comes to full circle

It indeed closes all the untold ,unimagined loops

Nandini pov

I reached home content ..

I then messaged manik a sorry ...

He replied in an instant

" its absolutely alright !..btw can I drop you tomorrow for your exam ?"

" yaa sure ...its at 9 "

"Ohk , I ll pick you up at 8 then ...and pls relax ..u should sleep now , nite :P"

I smiled at his cute gesture ,

N then I reminded myself mentally that after exam I was going to tell him

Tell him the truth about leaving India

He should know that , before he we could talk

Thinking I slept off to get up at 5 , revise a little and then finally get ready for the exam

I went down , waited for manik to come

Manik's pov

I kissed her forehead and dropped her to the exam centre ...after giving a warm all the best wish

All the while ...I could see something in her eyes ..

. A sense of desperation.

Maybe exam fear was it ?

Noo... I had this sudden knot in my stomach which told me that she was hiding something from me

I brushed those thoughts and went thought about may be decorating up her room and calling maybe cabir over and enjoying ...

That would relax her ...

Soo I sat in the car and headed to her home ..i had the spare key ..

I entered ...only to see many pillows ripped

Her room which was yesterday tidy without a speck of dust had papers spilled over ...

"What had happened before she went to give the exam ?"...even in the car she looked bothered

I slowly somehow managed to reach into her room ...without breaking any bones

And saw the papers lying ...most of them seemed to be her notes

When suddenly a big envelope in the pile caught my attention

It was addressed to her itself ...and it was open meaning she had read it

But it had an US stamp

I slowly opened the envelop

Only to be greeted by a letter

The letter left me dumbstruck

Nandini was going to US !!!

a part of me shattered while a part of me was super proud of her

Not everyone was as talented and as dedicated as she was ...!

But why dint Nandini tell me this ?

Then suddenly the time when she rejected further project played in a loop in my mind

It was now coming around

I lay paralysed at the same position for sometime

This time , I wasn't giving up

I wont give up on the battle I had fought for her through these 6 years

I wont give up on the promises I made to myself

The phoenix must always burn to rise ,

rise from its own ashes of crumbled dreams

I called dad subconsciously

" dad ...its something important "...

There was still lot of time to pick her ...I reminded myself

Saying that I rushed to his house immediately

"dad !!"

" what happened ?" "Nandini has an exam today naa !!...soo?"

"dad she is leaving india , she is going to US in a week " I said soo softly , just loud enough for him to hear it

"manik , soo ?"

" sooo what !, she dint tell me anything about it "

"manik , did you ever tell her about what you did ?...does she even know the truth ?"

"no...

...dad...u r a genius ...thank you soo much ..." Saying that I hugged him

He smiled as if knowing what I was about to do !

well ...i guess i ll definitely now get killed by you guys , but sorry the mystery and the connect had to unfold , and yes as u see the next 2-3 part are definitely the revelations and "the talk "

also , i ll update next soon

note : sry , forgot to mention last time , i really wanted you guys to pay extra heed to some small statements i had made there ...as they will connect soon to some cute parts ...
