You got it wrong there, Sadhu. When Nandu mistrusted him in the court scene- or should I say, fumbled and misjudged- she kind of fell from a pedestal where Manik had kept her in his mind.

He didn't think of himself being undeserving!

For Manik, Nandu was someone who can never go wrong or someone who always says the right things.

Add to that the stark contrast that his mother represents in the equation and you'll know what I mean.

Someone as white and as pure as Nandini letting scum like Noyonika tarnish her purity wasn't something he could digest, hence the reaction.
