Overall thoughts on the merger and fallout

Ok so I think a lot of stuff has somewhere gotten lost in the noise and controversies related to this merger so I thought I'd just compile my views in one place:

1) This was a very very poorly planned merger mainly cuz it seemed like a last minute written script designed to use Manik to promote Veebha...the rest seemed to be a series of random "eye candy" scenes like Manik meets Parth in towel😆...I'm not even going to go there.

WH ka toh pata nahin but KYY is generally a very well planned script with all loops linked together and plenty of foreshadowing for the plot points...so any KYY viewer would be jarred by the random khichdi that these two merger epis were.

2) The main problem that has created so much backlash...Manik behaving out of character...now firstly toh I don't think there was any character assassination...not at all...KYY Manik basically went on pause for two days and "merger" Manik took over😆...Merger Manik strategically is made to avoid mentioning Nandini in any form and at the most it is implied that he has someone in his life now.

I can understand that most fans being so attached to MaNan would be upset about this...but honestly I think what would be more upsetting was if they had shown him talking about Nandini while he was busy glorifying Veebha😆...since this was a promotional tactic anyways, isn't it better than Nandu was kept away from it? MaNan's SANCTITY was maintained, people...and that is a GOOD thing.

3) The Manik-Veebha connection...again it loops back to how poorly the script was written...there was actual potential for them to show some good backstory if they wanted to...despite all the name trolling that has been done for WH with the way they use the name of the KYY cast members...but the writers didn't seem to bother only.

The flashback scene b/w Manik-Veebha was the only good scene in the whole merger episode in my opinion...mainly cuz Parth rose above the script...the script was not written very clearly in that scene...the average fan for the most remained confused about whether Manik was "cheating" on Alya by hitting on Veebha back then.

So here's what I got out of the scene...at the time of the flashback, it was the last day of school and Manik was there to write something on Veebha's blazer as a gesture of farewell...It is implied that Veebha was also his childhood friend just like Alya and at some point he developed an attraction towards her...probably around the same time that Alya must have pursued him as well...and it seems he would rather have picked Veebha than Alya but Veebha saw Alya's love for him and rejected him on that basis...Manik never really got it and resigned himself to the answer and ended up dating Alya for the heck of it...his response when Veebha tells him that Alya loves him and he goes, 'Yeah I love her too"...that shows it all...

Now we are TOLD that Veebha was very special😆...by making Manik mouth these dialogues...but somehow it never comes across in their "camaraderie"😆...so you know what this is called, WH makers? it's called EXECUTION FAIL😊...you could have shown a wonderful MATURE friendship in Manik's past that shaped him one way or the other...instead you ended up showing random OTT khichdi of a friendship with so much muddled into one scene that most ppl couldn't decipher it cuz they were busy hurting from the lack of MaNan you anyways hit them with.

People are not so stupid that they cannot take Manik's friendships of the past...but if you don't show it with CLARITY, but ofcourse there will be backlash and confusions.

For my part personally, I just laughed the whole thing off cuz it was THAT stupidly executed😆...nothing worth being upset over in terms of being "detrimental" to Manik's character...that said, the writers do have a task ahead of them now to loop the story back into the KYY universe.

4) The channel or the PHs don't seem to understand that taking away TWO WHOLE DAYS from the CENTRAL storyline of a show DOES jar and upset the viewers...heck even the cliched mahasangam epis that happen on most GECs atleast show SOME storyline movement when they do merger epis.

But what happened in this case was like a random side interlude which as far as I can tell add absolutely ZILCH to the storyline progression in either show...so what was the whole point?😕😕...for ppl to just stare at the faces of the "hot" actors?😕😆

When you plan a merger THIS stupidly, why WON'T the audience retaliate with backlash? THINK, next time...even if it seems hard😆

5) Lastly, regarding the fallout and the reactions of the cast...firstly it is NEVER cool to ABUSE the cast members...some ppl have done that on social media and that is just very unfortunate and must be condemned...yes, the cast should be mature enough to sift b/w the constructive criticism and outright abuse but doesn't seem like they are...and at the end of the day react emotionally...but I'd like to state it clearly again that NO ONE condones ABUSIVE bashing...there are varying degrees of reactions coming from ardent fans right now and the PH and cast should understand why those concerns are there rather than focus on the smaller populations of trolls who abuse for the sake of creating trouble.

I hope the writers and cast of KYY can bounce back from this and give us some great epis in the coming days😊

Spot on Anu.
I for one am glad Nandu wasnt mentioned because it would have been extremely jarring to relate it to V-fawnfest, atleast this way for me Manik and Nandini and Ky2 were on a break and we get them back.

As for V and Manik's character etc, we have to understand he was a teenager with hormones then, so him being confused about V or Alya is nothing out of the box because for the most part thats how teenage boys are.

The main problem here is the lack of a KY2 storyline and plot progression. If you are a viewer that watches both shows, then it is interesting, otherwise it is not. KY2 has a nice plot going on and viewers were excited, but we are left in a limbo. If the merger was done properly taking both the show's sensibilities in consideration, I don't think fans would have reacted as they did.

A lot of people liked it , most of them are viewers of both shows, so it was fine but for people who do not watch WH, it was just 2 days of trivial shit with absolutely no focus on Fab5' s past as such.

I also have to say, up until now I have always enjoyed the Fab5 performace, except for yesterday's. Not because I didnt like the merger episode, but I thought the execution was sub-par.

We understand the need for promotional tactics but all we fans ask is for some logical story-telling and balance. Accept the criticism along with the praise, because while praise helps your present, criticism builds your future.

Well Said Anu. It time for a reality check, and not go overboard. What has happened has happened, and we didn't like it. the best is to forget and act like it didn't exist. Thats the best we can do. But insulting someone's character on a public platform, and using such degrading words makes me feel ashamed that some people can go to such extents. 😕
And yes the whole merger fiasco is just a hilariously bad dream.. so i'm gonna laugh it out and wait for today's REAL episode. 😆

Exactly Adhi...it is totally understandable that a teenage Manik would go through his own set of confusions regarding attraction or love or his lack of understanding regarding those...so there was actual potential here to flesh out his backstory more but they tossed in a random scene without linking it properly to current Manik...show him maybe reflecting some if he was away on this nostalgia trip to his school...just talking about all the random places you hung out at while school doesn't alone bring out the nostalgia feeling.

These ppl don't understand that the backlash is not cuz the audience isn't mature enough to understand friendships of past...the backlash is cuz of the extremely poor execution of it all...random "romantic" music playing in the present day Veebha scene😆...the silly "I won't see your face" exercise like they are Devdas ke Dev-Paro😕😆...this made their "special friendship" just seem contrived and put on.

Sorry I didn't even bother with the Fab 5 performance bit...I was just DONE with this merger by then😆...

Only saving grace and Nandu style HOPE now is that the standby might actually be a GOOD thing cuz they can pick up from where they left it...we will happily swallow it as long as the KYY storyline picks up steam again...we can also compartmentalize like Manik😛😆

Bang on post Anu and i agree with Adhi too
it was all execution fault i agree

i have no problem with M and V special friendship i am at least that mature to understand a pure friendship but if you execute it badly, who will try to guess it?? We are not here to guess something but to feel what they wanna show us..i understood the past but why showing the present as if Manik still has a thing for "v" ???

I am telling you a story here,my 19year old bro saw that present V-M Convo and was asking me " is this not the same guy who always run after that tiny mini girl?why he is checking out this new girl then?and it looks like if she say yes he is ready to make her his gf...so was he playing with that mini girl????? This is the boy for whom you argued with me?"

After listening that,i have no reply for him as i myself saw the twinkling eyes of Manik staring at V and burst out in tears..

i am ready to accept watching a kyy alone or merger for whole week without nandini but only when they need it or justify the story...But i have no interest to see two heroes of two diff shows in towel...am not that type if vikku thinks

regarding bashing,i am not in twitter to comment on it but wanna say something about the 'Fan' word...

I dont know what peoples definition of fan is but for me fan is the best criticizer..a loyal fan is someone who praises a star or a show when it is at it's best as well as criticize them when they are at worse because a fan can either make or break a star by his/her loyal feedback...

...if a star can go ga ga over fans support then he/she should try to understand or analyze why they are upset too..because this never help a fan but can make the star better and best...

So though i did not bashed them in twitter but i did express my hurt in the forum khullamkhulla and if am stupid for that, "I Am Proud To Be a Stupid"..

i just want to remind u girls that scene on the stairs where manik was helping nandu on her head pain and when she wanted to know about his voting for which she said isnt our present beautiful why mess it up, bringing the past. I am very sure nandu said this having alya in mind, and her reaction would be the same if she gets to know about V and again with V , i felt there was nothing between them.
n i am like nandu in this, if i go ahead with a relationship , i think i would not mind about his past, but would be more considered about the beautiful present and if he is truthful to me now and in the future.

Yes, the degrading of ppl's character on a public platform is where things got too ugly...criticism is fine but ppl crossing the line on social media like that is 👎🏼

Anyways yeah time to move on and get back to KYY
