Nandini wasn't trying to protect herself ! hardly but even if she did, I wouldn't hold it against her because she too is human and has a heart that can get hurt. But she isn't worried about herself. She is worried for him, for his music because it's such a vital part of his life and as you mentioned he has easily sacrificed it for herself on numerous occasions. She doesn't understand that she is his life, She says that music is the most important part of his life and he shouldn't destroy in the fit of his anger. And everyone seems to have missed that ! She wants to protect his music ! She wants to protect him from himself ! She wants to see the best side of him. One that smiles openly. Loves tenderly.
