Is this not how we all deal with our issues- when shit hits, we are angry, we stop listening , it's only when we calm down or someone makes us understand we come around. Technically he is doing the same- he is hurt, has a legitimate reason to be so - yes he is walking away, because that is his defense mechanism just like crying is for Nandini.
He needs to be away to get that space to let this whole thing play out.

I don't think he has been an monster or there has not been any progress. But the way it was going I would have been surprised if he didn't lapse now especially when it had trust and his mom involved in the same equation.

He would have to come back to the starting point to realize that he cannot do this however much he wants, he cannot go back after coming this far

See the thing is if his character has truly evolved, even little bit, he would not have gone back to his Monstrous self instead he should have coped with pain differently. Cause going back to his Monstrous self is like saying what ever he worked up to now (change he brought on himself, the changes that his friends saw in him, the exact reasons Nandini falls for him), is all kind of famished.

I mean I didn't find Parth's acting lacking today? In fact I thought the resigned defeated stance was a nice subtle touch. The monster is less a monster and more a man in a broken mask of his previous form.

I've called out these actors plenty of times, this isn't one of those times 😆

Aren;t we all indifferent at times. Nandini too is indifferent, she doesn't go seeking crusades , she fights for her people or just when it weighs down her conscious at that moment like say Shahid's case , she is more open about it than him.

He is vengeful only for his loved ones. and he doesn't mind being cruel for them because he doesn't care for himself.

Careless- they both are or we won't be having this communication vacuum.

Nandhini treats other people as humans whereas with manik ...he is dismissive of them... he is either indifferent or looks down upon them ...

@MaybeSomeday
I forgive you for being lazy 😆

Here's another from my fav! list ...

I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals

I'm breaking in, shaping up,
then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse

I'm radioactive, radioactive

I too liked the subtlety, I hated his drunk act but for me the coldness came off well, because the conflict is seen,he wants to be cold and yet at the same time, he cant.

But the editing was godawful and there was no continuity in the scenes, today should have been about MaNan and their angst but it got lost in everyone else

Why would he not revert back and it's not his usual Monster self- he is cold, he spoke his hurt. He didn't do it like he did with Dhruv or Alya , he just walked away then. This time he broke it down word by word, to Nandini.

His coldness is his handling of pain, he cannot be sensible to deal his pain in the mature manner we want to because he is not in that state. it's like something has died inside him, their is grieve- in that state humans do retreat to the shell which gives them the most protection . He cannot seek his love because that is what is hurting him. So he takes to his familiar darkness to grieve.
I would have been very shocked if he handled it differently, honestly, that would have short-changed Manik. He had to hold on to his basic template and not be a version that just suits Nandini or us. His mourning is giving up on hope which is why his monster self now, in contrast to the earlier times when he took to monster self to hide the hope.

Imagine him being so happy with finally experiencing the feeling of love, thinking that finally this girl sees me with absolute trust and then bam it all falls down. The anger, the lashing is but obvious. It's not even been one day . We all sulk, hold to our anger for days, months and years. It's human.

His staff - first few episodes , the scene with watchman . He has no qualms just because he is not expressive like Nandini or bothers doesn't mean he dismisses human struggles.
