The numbness, the hurt was shown in the shower scene.

He asked her to leave, and when that branch/twig snagged on her dress and she turned, he gave her a once over showing her that it was not him holding her back. That he was not interested in holding her back. Which was never the case before. He always wanted her to look back, he liked having all of her attention.

His genuinely hates her, at this point. Once his anger ebbs...he will feel for her again. But right now...right now, he doesn't want anything to do with her. All realisations will come later.
