Manik always wanted to be the only person for Nandini, for her tears and for her laughs. Ab he'll see her laughing not because of him but because of someone else...this might make him realize the things that Nandini told him the first time around, to consider her as well.

I agree. Abhi's main purpose though revolves around Mukti, I would really like to see a great friend in him for Nandu. Manik hasn't sat down and pondered over her words till now, has he? He needs to process it first that why she is so worried about the tears and hurt. Once he sees Abhi giving her the happiness he thinks is his "THING", in his "AUTHORITY", he would be jealous and curious...all over again, as you said how is she laughing like that with him and not me?!

Abhi as a character has a lot of scope. He was introduced as a proper character to us, with name title flashed across the screen and stuff. Means his entry was also planned by the CVs way before the show, he didn't just randomly crop up. It would suck if his sole purpose is to be Mukti's love interest and the light of her life, though I admit this girl needs it the most. But the way he's been shown to us...he does have it in himself to fix much more than just Mukti.
