He wants to inflict pain to Manik, destroy him and isolate- that is huge. the Why better be effective enough. On the contrary , Manik while aware of Harshad hasn't made it his mission to destroy him-so whatever happened in the past- moral victory was with Manik, and Harshad has resented it.

Harshad wishes to emerge as a winner at any cost, because it will help him reprieve some of the resentment and fury he harbors within. I think a most revealing exchange about his character is the memories of "band of brothers". It shows that there is probably a wound there that has been festering long enough to undo him in order to seek revenge against Manik especially. What I've seen of him lately it has called desperation for some kind of retribution He is a man full of hatred and undying thirst for vengeance. He wants to destroy Manik and he will go to any lengths to achieve his goal. I feel like this path of obsession and destruction will lead to his own eventual downfall.
