Consider this as some kind of curse that I carry, ya phir meri kismat hi kharab hai *sigh*, but whichever forum I have ever been active on, even while using my old id that I lost years ago, has somehow turned into a war zone. It was the DMG forum while I used my old id, which became a regular site of bloodbath after almost an year. Then using my new id, it was the D3 forum - many from forum number 631 are already here, so I don't think I need to elaborate 😆 . Then I followed MEIEJ forum, which became quite disturbing towards the end. Currently following the forum of another popular show, which has already started showing signs of going the MEIEJ forum way. And now, here I am.
What I am trying to say is, offscreen matters of the cast, as well as fights between fans of various couples, or even between the fans of the two lead stars have made quite a few forums turn into battlegrounds. The forum reaches high ranks (what with everyone trying to blindly put everyone else down without even giving a thought to the way they are speaking), but entering the forum starts giving you headaches, and visiting it becomes a huge turn-off, eventually. And this dislike carries on even towards the show, in most cases.
Ofcourse, the heart wants what it wants, and we are all bound to have such wishes. Putting your point across, even in offscreen matters, is acceptable, but not by degrading anyone, or creating fights. A great example for this would be the 'The Buddy Project' forum. Non-canon shippings, multiple shippings, non-canon offscreen equations, and what not. And yet, the forum was pure bliss. Peaceful. Discussions were sensible, and though tiffs arose, they never reached the scale they could have.
I am sorry for posting this post, as it could be construed as moral policing. I just wished to say that, with one main couple, and many other ships including/not including them being present, plus their offscreen equations being the way they are (I recently read a post here, hence mentioning), and this being a highly active forum, there are enormous chances of all that happening here too. But please, let that not be the case. Let the forum stay as wonderful as the show is. I love the show a lot, and I love the forum and the crazy people here too, a lot (though I am pretty new to this place). I just wish that my bad luck of ending up in the most violent forums doesn't carry on to this one too. KY2 has started meaning a LOT for me, and it already does, for most people here. Let that remain so.
