I'm not justifying bullying,I'm trying to understand their need to bully. The transition seems inadequately addressed and i do understand that some members are finding it difficult to digest this. But telly is a quick fix medium and although some aspects still need to be answered...kudos to the makers for bringing forth bullying and homosexuality.
We are discussing these topics based on a show isn't that wonderful!
@shelly agree with all your points. Am glad your BFF has you.
@abray...I want to wait and watch the redemption.
Also I think predominantly when we are younger we like to put people into nice little packages. Alas life is a journey it's neither defined by the beginning nor the end it's what lies in between.

You will love it even more going forward, all the relationships depicted are pretty amazing. I agree with you on that bullying isnt right but people who bully can be reformed, and when you have examples in real life, it isnt hard to fathom at all. I mean there are numerous articles on bullying and the psychology of it and if people actually took the time to read them, we would realise that people change, its not unreal but reality especially if there are numerous scientific studies that prove it.

Great topic.
I'm glad I am not the only one who sees Alya as selfish.
I always knew Mukti changing boyfriends early on in the show meant that she has suffered a huge heart break and coming from a dysfunctional family. With Manik, he has a issue with his mom, or more like his mom has an issue with him and that has made him the way he is but his true nature came out with helping dhruv.
Great Analysis on Cabir and explains his behaviour.

You won't believe it I was just making a similar topic & thought to just check the first few pages of the forum before that. Now I will just post it here itself.

First of all, the last episode was a feel-good one, one of the best episodes till date. Loved everything about it.. From MaNan to Cabir, to Manik-Cabir. Once again beautifully executed. Perfect end to the week!

So I recently completed watching all the episodes of Yaariaan & I must say, some hard-core Bullying that was😳 Felt like I was watching Gumrah/Webbed. But again, thanks to Gumrah I can understand why they were what they were(were because they aren't the same anymore). There was one epi wherein we end up feeling bad for the bully since he had a sad story behind him being the Bully at school & in the end gets killed by his victims!

Manik if you notice, he was the bad guy only in S.P.A.C.E. Given his characterization then, he shouldn't have held Nandu's falling jar of Fireflies. Or that might have happened involuntarily..Thanks to the power of fireflies😛 But then back home, when Nyonika was shown being all rude to her employee, Manik was shown to be the contrast when he was sweet with the servant.

Mukti is another broken soul. Alya(until it created insecurities in her love-life) & Dhruv however simply supported their friends or remained silent when they were happily bullying ppl.

But I wondered why Cabir involved in such OTT ragging since he has a doting mother whom he loves as well. Yes it was fun for them but to the extent that it pushes someone to death & they don't care(I still don't understand that)! But on the whole we now know even Cabir's reason of distress.

Yes morally incorrect but can't rule out a reasoning for their behaviour.

Moreover like you mentioned they are just 19-20 years old & that's a growing age.. they made mistakes/blunders.. I can see the changes in them..they are not into bullying anymore.. If someone messes with their music they might..that's yet to be seen if CVs will create a situation as such again..

That said, I'd love for them all to redeem. I can see Manik has made the major start and has come to become my most favourite character on the show❤️ How much I'd loved to hate him in the initial episodes!

I was quite surprised at Mukti's change in attitude towards Navya in the last epi.. I really liked that she genuinely spoke to Navya.

They're all nice ppl.. The actual villain in the story when I see now is Harshad! The firecrackers at the pool was done by him. He is cunning & his reasoning is against Manik & Fab 5!

@Doc, big hug for this🤗 . You caught them so well.
Bullying is bad but ragging in India is not an alien concept Unfortunately, seemingly good guys get carried away in the name of fun and this is what fab5 as a unit has been doing for years, it's been their kick or perhaps they did it to create that aura .But a lot of the blame goes to the crowd around them too, they seem to enjoy these acts and in a way encourage fab5. This series is the quest of these five individuals to mature.

These are 5 lost young teens who probably at 19-20 are going through new life experiences which are shaking their inner core and defense mechanism.

Manik is fascinating because well he is not your bad guy , he is a good guy to the people who he lets in .He is like a lot of us , who are different person to the outer world than what they seem to be with friends/family. His care, love and trust is exclusive. Yet there is a good side too which slips randomly like when he helped a total stranger's fireflies or the other day a student with guitar lessons.
Nandu is not changing him, she is rather becoming his person too. But she is helping him mature and realize that life is moving on and with that he has to progress too for a better understanding of emotions and experiences.

Cabir
He is such a brilliant character. The fight , fear and the coming out was so impressive. When he spoke about social stigma , I went back to why he preferred being behind cameras- was it his way of flipping to the world, who shunned his sexuality? His onwards journey will be very interesting to watch and the realization of it all will mature him.

Mukti
She is the vulnerable one. The girl is like Lady Manik but she is beyond broken . She needs fab5 because they give her a purpose and home. The meds and addiction is scary, to think the girl who creates terror and fear in others , leads such a scary and vulnerable life? Probably why she takes to her image. Her path is to be the stronger , independent self. i don't want her to fall for a guy , nope , not unless she is strong as an individual

Dhruv
I am so conflicted. I do see the boy who goes through a rough disease and that makes his introvert behaviour understandable. But I am yet to be sold by his story. Probably the Rishab track because heartbreak is not an enough sequence to make me invest in him. He is young, going through an infatuation , so his pain though understandable doesn't seem life changing.

Alya
I think she lacks a purpose in life. That makes her so fixated on Manik because , she sees no future for herself but with him. She has no goal and this lack of self respect and vision makes her take to tricks to win him back. I feel she doesn't understand trust too, probably because she has never been the person who saw trust or what it means because even while Manik spelled it out what love means to him, i.e. Trust, she is playing with his bond with Dhruv , which again puts Manik's trust on her as a friend on the line.

Harshad
I feel he is self-centered , not a bad thing but I feel his desires and actions are very him oriented. Temper too. And right now rather than maturing and savouring friendship , since he seems to be lonely as well, he is using the people who trust him. This is his fall to abyss , if he doesn't mature and understand his actions.

Nandu
She is real. Not a dharna , slogan shouting , world changing girl. But she is someone who knows what this age and experiences mean to life . She has a good hold on emotions and herself. Her realness makes her perfect.

Navya
OTT, till the bubble simmers, I doubt I will ever know her.
