Also, I missed you guys <3
I was kind of turned off by Navya's antics in regards to Manik-Dhruv. She witnessing the Manik-Dhruv scene and getting the wrong idea, it was the classic example of making a mountain out of molehill and using that misunderstanding for a joke that would be stretched till forever. Thank God the writers wrapped it all up. The whole point of Navya's idea was in regards to Nandini's crush on Dhruv and they could've kept stretching it with Navya getting Kanta Behn moments over and over again if Manik so much as touched Dhruv. But I bloody loved the way it was all played out.
All this is a part of the elaborate scheme of introducing Cabir's sexuality, officially, in the show. I love how the writers are warming up the audience for that. They are not making a joke out of it. They are showing two mentalities. One via Navya. The typical mentality which suffocates homosexuals in today's time. The way Navya just put fingers in her ears when Nandini talked about gays, woah! Such a smart and realistic detailing of the subject. The other is done via Nandini. The modern, urban mentality who recognize homosexuals as humans who have as much as right to freedom as everyone else. I loved the way Nandini straight forwardly and calmly told Navya that the "ais type ke log" have a specific term and they aren't doing anything wrong. That little addition of using Navya's "pyaar mein sab kuch chalta hai" ideology against her. If Navya can be accepting of love which happened in two days, what's wrong with accepting the love between two men?
This scene, that's what makes KY2 stand out. Smart writing which shows both sides of the coin. The writers didn't just jump the gun and went shoved down Cabir's sexuality down our throats. Just the mere indication of it in the promo and we saw the repercussions. People got turned off, many said they aren't comfortable watching any such thing in a show etc etc. The writers are taking their time out, showing each character's reaction to this idea, building a conflict out of it. It's such a smart move from their side. They are obviously not planning to make it all joke and turn Cabir straight in the future as it sexuality is an on&off switch. They are targeting the suffocation which homosexuals feel, the feeling of being the odd one out, the dread of not being accepted by their own friends. They are showing it and the factors, the mentality. But they are also showing that it's not all dark. There are people who are open and accepting. Time itna bhi bura nahin hai...
Now, let's talk about the person for whom the title of this topic stands - NANDINI. I swear, I was literally chanting, "JAAGO NAARI! JAAGO!!" in that scene. I loved it how Nandini recollected all those moments in Manik's room that they shared. For the first time, she thought like a woman. She saw herself through Manik's eyes, her wet self, her half naked self; and then she noticed the change in behavior in Manik. She noticed the way he was caught up in her, the way he looked at her, the way he wanted to get close to her. Before she was brushing it all off as his attempts to establish power over her, something she could push aside. But there, standing there and thinking about Manik's sexuality, she noticed that it wasn't just that. It was a man who naturally felt attracted to a woman. The most primal and basic need of a human, to want to be close to someone whom they like or are attracted to. There she saw the desire in his eyes. And there, she felt it too. When she realized in what light Manik viewed her in those moments, the way she looked at him changed as well. Manik was so blissfully unaware of her presence and something within her, shifted. The way she looked at him, with that small smile on her lips. There, she was a woman who realized that she was wanted as a woman by a man. She liked that. She wanted that.
God! I just love this sense of realization in Nandini. The scene which followed, the girl was actively nervous in his presence. I love it how this proximity of theirs has become such routine for them. Manik is used to it, he doesn't fight it. He's beginning to enjoy it. The smirks, the control. But it's just the beginning for Nandini. She'd be confused, disoriented, she'd want it..she'd want it like he wanted it. She'd get lost in it and she'd snap out of it. She's going through what he has already gone through. Uff! I love it! I love the way they are so human and real and so like today's youth. Ye pyaar vyaar and shaadi ke baad type of typical HSSH type ki mentality, I love it how they are defying it. I love how their attraction and lust is not being ignored. Two healthy teenagers who obviously have sexual tension around them...aaahhh! God, the way I love these two.
The best bit? Dhruv saw that. Dhruv saw Nandini smiling in their direction. I might sound like a sadist but what the heck. Dhruv thought that she smiling was for him. But Nandini's focus was on Manik's retreating back. She didn't even acknowledge Dhruv there. And I love it. She was a girl crushing on Dhruv. Now she's a woman acknowledging the thrill of Manik's proximity.
Harshad...stop making me dislike you. He's losing his ground, his justifications behind his actions. He's getting too blind, too wrong in his obsession. I thought he'd stop and worry about Mukti's condition. I thought he cared. HE WAS SHOWN TO CARE! Why is he getting so wrapped up in his darkness that even the littlest flicker of light is diminishing? Where's the Harshad who at least cared? Just a bit but he cared. Now he sees Fab5 and he sees targets. Shoot, shoot, shoot. Targets to blast, targets to annihilate. If things go on like this...no. I don't want to hate this guy but he's making it hard for me to love him.
Alya and Dhruv are adorable! I love her adorable fixation with Dhruv's love life. She's Dhruv's friend, she just wants to help. The way she teases him and the way Dhruv runs away from there..it's so adorable! I love Krissan's smile! In these scenes she makes Alya look like a literal Barbie doll. I knew that Shahid was gonna get the wrong idea xD Bring in more conflict! But Alya realized that Dhruv's falling for Nandini. Hmmm..we all saw that coming. She might push Dhruv to Nandini to drive her away from Manik. Plausible and justified in her account.
Can't be just me who thought Nandini also wanted to kiss Manik in the precap? Can I start hoping that 'intimacy' can be made canon? Pretty please?
