RAKSHANDA KHAN
• Diwali reminds me of those 20-day holiday in school. We used to have a party and loads of fun in school. As a child, I used to buy new clothes and a lot of crackers and would love bursting them. Ramzan and Diwali are at the same time this year. I would not be celebrating Diwali since Ramzan is around the same time. I would not buy any new clothes, but I would buy lots of diyas. I love gifting people on this occasion, so I will gift ethnic thaalis with flowers and crackers, diyas and mithais.
VIKAS SETHI
• Diwali to me means a lot of fun. I don't burn crackers though. It's the time to be with my family. Years ago I hurt my hand once while lighting an anaar, so I've been extra careful after that. I would gift a lot of blessings and love to all. I am extremely bad at gifting because it's difficult for me to choose what to gift.
RIVA BUBBER
• As a kid, I used to love crackers and Diwali parties but now I get irritated with the children in my building bursting crackers.
TASSNIM
• Diwali is a festival of lights and a lot of joy. My mother is a Hindu so I have always celebrated Diwali with her as well as my maternal relatives. I do the Laxmi Puja on the day. I have spent all my Diwalis with my cousins including my only cousin brother. But five years ago I lost my cousin. I miss him a lot as I would fight with him for crackers and he would beat me up. All in all, we had good fun.
IQBAL KHAN
• One Diwali, we were not given a holiday in school. I was in the boarding then. I sneaked out with a few friends and went out. Later I was caught and punished.
Urvashi Dholakia
• Diwali is a completely family celebration time. It's a festival of lights. My Diwali is always simple. I will begin with a Puja and then burst some crackers. One Diwali that brings a smile to my face is when I was 10 years of age. I had an eye operation done. Inspite of having one eye shut with bandage, I was determined and adamant to go and play with crackers! I love bursting crackers even now.
RUCHA GUJRATHI
• Diwali is the festival of lights and lots of fun and colours. It is one festival where everybody gets together to meet relatives and friends. It is a festival of joy and happiness. I usually go with my parents to my grandfather's house in Nasik for Diwali. We spend 3-4 days with dadaji for Diwali. We usually gift each other sweets, mithai or chocolates.
SANGEETA GHOSH
• Diwali to me is the time for celebration; it's the time for fun and happiness. It's the time for new clothes, time to make rangolis, light diyas and celebrate. I would love to gift different people different things. Usually my mom takes care of this department. I remember bursting silent crackers; those that do not make much sound. I have burnt my dupatta once so that has made me become more careful.
ROHIT ROY
• Diwali means a lot of revelry, fireworks and breaking my diet. I would make a silent prayer to take care of my family. I don't shop. Mansi shops for me. Diwali reminds me of the times when I would burst crackers with my dad. Unfortunately, he is no more.
