For all familiar with the Harry Potter Series, you would remember a classic line uttered by Prof. Dumbledore to Harry, '' It is your choices which determine what you become in life, not your abilities.''
Just modify it a little bit and the same will apply for Kripa. If Kripa decides to go ahead and consummate her relationship with Angad, it will be her choice to do so and partly circumstances (can't really blame that girl, rain outside, hot guy inside......😆 ) hence even if Angad does ''ditch'' her or does not formalize their relationship post the Ding-Dong session, I for one would not blame him, at least on this account! Hey, when did he say, that ''Come Kripa, Waltz with me in the rain, get wet and then lets do a jig on Roop Tera Mastana and then we will get married as soon as we get back home?''
Kripa might hail from a small town, but her attitude and personality is as modern or as liberated as a big-town / metropolitan girl's would be. Right from the beginning, Kripa was shown to be a go-getter, she literally fought with her parents and came to Mumbai. And the reason for her coming are all the more dubious, she comes to meet with Angad (a man she has not met, only seen and heard off!) and not to pursue music (the reason she gives her parents, but discloses the truth to Harshini) I thought that was quite a bold decision for someone so young and inexperienced in life! Hence Kripa is a small town girl only in looks, not in thoughts!
Amongst all the characters in KYPH, Kripa is the strongest of the lot, followed by Prithvi and Misthi! Angad is way behind, he a typical, tough on the outside, soft inside case! He is emotionally fragile, confused, immature, indecisive and perplexed with his feelings - and it is this vulnerability of his, which makes him so lovable and adored by all of us!
On the other hand, Kripa who is much younger is confident about what she feels, is ready to come out with her feelings, is the first one to confess her love and walks out on her family and friends for a man whom she loves, without any committments from his side. To love like this, one has to have tremendous confidence and belief in self.....which Kripa obviously has!
If Kripa is dejected after Angad lets her down, it will be her own undoing and not anyone destroying her. A girl who has so much guts, such assurance, self-belief, poise and conviction in herself, will be and should be ready to take on any obstacles and barriers that life has to offer in her way. Angad is not that strong a character to destroy anyone's life, his own life is dictated by his Mother, wherein does he have the power to destroy Kripa's life?
Kripa herself will be the reason for her destruction and similarly for her own resurrection, Angad will only be the means for her destruction, not the reason for it and similarly Prithvi will be the channel for her resurrection and not the cause for it!
I hope I have made a strong, feminist and individualistic statement on Kripa today! I wish Ekta would think sense this time and make Kripa's character a truly different one!
Cheers,
Chilly
