Iqbal Khan, who plays Angad in Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai, on Sony TV says, "TV takes you into every household. Viewers don't have to make a date to see you like they have to do with films. They don't have to spend Rs 150 to see your work. They don't have to leave their houses and sit in a theatre for three hours. You're available in their drawing rooms. So you get fame like nobody's business. I can go to the remotest village in the country, and people would know who Angad is." Iqbal is bang on: it is all about the reach.
Tarun Katial of Sony agrees, "Look around you – look at all the TV awards shows, the magazines focused on TV gossip and TV stars, the daily newspapers with their TV pages. All of this shows the immense popularity that television holds." The going's good But then being chased by gossip magazines and Page-Three scribes is a small price to pay for the iconic status and the fat pay cheques that they take home. THIS IS FOR YOU BUTTER😉😳
Iqbal feels that TV has given him everything that he has aspired for. He says, "Until I got into television, I had the same old thought – films. But then I realised that I could get everything from TV that I could get from films – success, money, fame, job satisfaction. I've been working just seven months, and already I'm in a position to buy a house of my own." Iqbal is not the only one whose cash registers are ringing. Television actors today are in a position to charge as much as Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh per episode.
