In today's episode, we have little KS fighting the good fight; both Troll Prithwi and KS push Top-Notch Lawyer to take AK's case, but for completely orthogonal reasons! TN Lawyer's an old pal of Troll-Prithwi's and will do whatever the Troll says; AK&KS have a tender moment meeting in the jail, from which KS leaves more firm in her drive to get AK out; AK drowns in his memories of loving KS; and Troll-Prithwi leaves with greater hatred for AK in his Troll-heart; in the court, the cops present their case against AK, and TN Lawyer does not cross-examine to KS' astonishment; Prithwi&FFSimone share a Troll-rant moment about how he will get KS back forever; back in court, the prosecution brings in Alliyah to present evidence of AK's animosity for Josh; she admits to their enimity and AK refuses to let TN Lawyer cross-examine to protect Alliyah's feelings; TN Lawyer interprets this as evidence that AK must be guilty (huh??) and drops the case at the last moment; KS is aghast, but searches for another TN Lawyer in the Yellow Pages (Huh?); and finds that this TN Lawyer has an old-AK-boozer-and-womaniser front who is having too much fun to take AK's case! Phew! On to the show?
(In case you are confused: we have changed Prithvi's name to Prithwi to acknowledge that he is actually really a different character. This one is a Troll instead of a Gnome and an Insane Troll at that!)
The first set begins at the Top-Notch Lawyer's office (I couldn't for the life of me get his name! Wasim? Wasib? Whass-is??) where he tells AK&KS gravely that he is booked for the next four years; Troll-Prithwi offers money but TN Lawyer sneeringly laughs at such a paltry offering; KS turns Kunning for a moment and points out how AK is a rockstar - no, a superstar! - and TN Lawyer will get lots of fame when he gets AK free. TN Lawyer is more impressed at her not having turned hysterical on him and agrees to take the case. KS is so happy she skips out of his room, forgetting to take her lapdog with her. Which gives Troll-Prithwi a chance to fall into TN Lawyer's arms - they are old friends! - and tells him that TN Lawyer will take the case and drops it after it appears that AK is guilty! TN Lawyer is surprised but agrees to do anything for his old Troll-pal.
(BTW, is it my imagination but does this show have _really_tall_ guys?! Where does Balaji Telefilms find them? Are all other shows also populated with such tall chaps?)
We cut to the jail where AK is slowly pacing in his cell (note, he's not furious, or charged, just droopy and defeated - NOT a good picture of an innocent man wrongly charged!) He becomes weepy at the sight of KS standing outside his cell, and they share a tender hand-to-hand contact moment (AKHC, Nitica?); she stands firm and straight, and AK looks like he's ready to fall at her feet in gratitude that she is there at all! Troll-Prithwi is stewing at the sight of the entwined hands and parrots KS' "We'll have you out of this place soon" in a strangled voice and hurridly takes KS away. AK is left to stand in the jail remembering our good old AK-in-white-shirt-romancing-innocent-KS days.

The next set has KS-TN Lawyer-Troll Prithwi standing outside a beautiful red-tiled courthouse (where the devil is there such a village-esque courthouse in Bombay??!) where the cop van bring up AK in handcuffs. KS shares yet another tender moment with AK before he is whisked away into court. The cops first present their evidence and it's all damning; however TN Lawyer refuses to cross-examine, and later outside the court, when KS goes apoplectic on him, he coldly shrugs aside her objections, telling her that he is merely building up the suspense to the real moment of defence later. KS is fuming but takes him at his word. Of course, Troll-Prithwi and TN Lawyer share their own Eye Contact moment here, bound in their moment of evil conspiracy against poor AK.
(Really, both the chap playing TopNotch Lawyer and ATandon are doing a terribly soapy job at being creepy and slimy and all bad things that even Trolls are not reputed for! With all that soap around, it's proof of their superlative acting that the slimy behaviour still comes across!)
Back in the court, the prosecution calls Alliyah to the stand! Everyone is stunned, and Alliyah comes in most reluctantly, almost failing to meet AK's stunned look. She swears to speak the truth. The prosecution starts with establishing that Josh and AK were at logger heads; when Alliyah supports this, AK interjects with saying that they had been at logger heads but that they had clarified things at the end, and were great buddies again! ( :-( Poor AK... his moment of desperation here was well done.) Prosecution gets back to Alliyah to ask if AK had not made life-threatening noises against Josh, and despite all her inclinations and the beseeching look on AK's face, she can't help her truthful self and supports that too. The entire Khanna-Klan is aghast. TN Lawyer gets up to cross-examine a weeping Alliyah, but AK stops him in his tracks: she is his sister and he will not be party to causing her pain. Alliyah and AK share a tender eye contact moment while KS continues to be aghast.
Now is when treachery rears it's ugly head: TN Lawyer acts as if it was an outrage that he was not permitted to cross-examine "such an important witness"; if AK stopped him, then it is proof that he is more guilty than innocent; outside the court, Troll Prithwi and TN Lawyer are going over their strategy when KS comes running in a fury up to them; TN Lawyer raises his voice: I only defend innocent people; it's clear that he is guilty; I'm out of this case! Furious KS becomes aghast: You can't drop this case now! It's horribly damaging. TN Lawyer pays no heed and he walks off! Troll Prithwi, slimy and false, pretends to commiserate with KS' misery, but is exultant inside.
We cut to a Prithwi-Simone moment: where Troll is exultant that all is going according to his plan. (I'm not sure that I understood the significance of that, or what was being plotted -- I was checking out some numbers that I had crunched then...)
(But I do have one question that started from some episodes ago: Why, oh WHY, have KYPH writers got the Troll having let Simone in on the fact that he has killed Josh? I know that it's useful to have her on his side on defaming AK to KS, but why did he have to reveal that he is Josh's murderer? It never did, and doesn't, make sense to me. But then, I think that nothing is supposed to make sense in KYPH anymore... :-( )
Cut to KS, pacing in her helpnesses at the TN Lawyer having ditched her at the last minute. What must she do now to get AK free? Where will she get a TN Lawyer? As she paces, her bright KS-eyes fall on ... (ta tada!) The Yellow Pages! Oooh, now that's the place to find a TN Lawyer! I wonder what category she looked under -- Top Notch Criminal Lawyer?? Hmmm! Her long fingers run down lists and lists of names and PING! she picks one. But how does she check that this is Truly a Top Notch Lawyer and not a Fake? Does she trust the yellow pages? Who can she turn to for a cross-check? There's a computer on the same table -- let's check Koogle!!
(You know, I can forgive these Ridiculous KYPH-writers everything, but KOOGLE?!?!?!?! I'm not sure if it was homage, or a taunt. If it is the latter - and this I will decide when I'm not torn between ROTFL and cursing -- then Kekta Kapoor, for this you are going to _HAVE_ to pay! Get your corporate swords drawn, me-hearties, because E will come after you and one day, sooner or later, she will get you! KYPH-IF-ers, wait and watch this space! ARGH! :-) )
Once she has cross-checked with "Koogle", she is thrilled -- yes, she has indeed made the right choice, baby, ah-ha, and is sure that after TN Lawyer, this is _the_ lawyer who will get AK out of jail.
We cut to a party in a bar/disco/lounge/dunno-what-exactly, where at the bar -- old AK's favourite spot! -, there's a chap in a leather jacket, - old AK's favourite outfit, except that this one is red! - wearing earrings - old AK's constant jewellry! - surrounded by girls - AK's favourite never-leave-home-without-it accessory! With so many signs in place, I'm not surprised that KS continues towards this chap, who turns, leers at her and asks for a dance. KS does what she always did to old AK: frowns and says I'm not here for a dance, but to get you for a case. Old AK-look-alike-person's leer drops into boredom and says Sorry Honey, Don't do that stuff; Go away! KS is beginning to look very, very depressed...

Preview for tomorrow: Troll Prithwi in a rant -- wasn't paying attention because by then I had shifted into work-mode again. I'm not feeling very sorry about it though.. :-)
(Well, for whatever it is worth, it was all okay in a soap-ish way. KS/NBamb was nice today in her fierce resolve to continue her "Free-AK, Free-AK-NOW!" campaign.
AK sucked: he stopped being "our boy" a while ago, but now he is no longer a man! It is as if aliens have extracted his backbone from this character. Seriously, maybe he should ask KS for some of hers..
I'm still waiting-and-watching. I kinda liked the new bad-boy TN Lawyer, probably because he reminded me of old AK, a bit. :-) Any other takers on this?)
