After being unceremoniously dropped from Balaji's soaps, Ravee Gupta is back with two new serials | ||
Ravee Gupta is one actress you will love to hate. As Damini in Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, she created havoc in Tulsi's life. She even played a crucial negative role in Kahin To Hoga. Inspite of playing her character with conviction, she was dropped unceremoniously from Kahin... This however did not hinder her spirit and she bounced back with two new shows – Siddhant and Shanno Ki Shaadi. On the personal front, it is rumoured that she is dating actor Manoj Bidwai. We spoke to Ravee about her professional and personal life. Excerpts: You are returning to television after a long break… There was a time when I was doing two prime time shows. Unfortunately, it did not work out for me. After doing Kyunki… and Kahin To Hoga, I didn't want to take up anything sub-standard. So, I patiently waited for the right role to come my way. Did the abrupt ouster from Kahin… affect your career in a big way? What exactly went wrong between Balaji and you? My character in the show, Damini, was a negative one. One fine day, Balaji decided to make Damini a nice and sombre bahu. They decided to make the character positive overnight without a logical explanation. They thought that the best way to carry out this transition would be by replacing me. I wasn't even aware of this development till somebody told me about it. Well, I was dropped like a hot potato! Why did you walk out of Kahin To Hoga? That was inevitable! I didn't leave on a bad note or harbour any grudges at the time of my exit. It was more circumstantial. It did hurt because I do believe that I am competent to play positive roles. In Kahin…I was playing a negative role, Archie, before Urvashi Dholakia replaced me. Does this mean that your equation with Ekta Kapoor and Balaji has soured? Not at all! I was recently offered a good role in Kkavyanjali but I couldn't accept it as my dates were blocked with Siddhant. Also, I have always been apprehensive about getting into the saas-bahu trap. My previous stint in a saas bahu saga was due to my equation with the production house. Even today, I am not averse to such a role, but it has to be a mind boggling one. On the personal front, the buzz is that you are dating Ishitaa Arun's ex-boyfriend Manoj Bidwai? Yes, Manoj and I have been going out together. I enjoy his company. We get along quite well and have common interests. But that's not enough to fall in love with the person. I'll be lying if I say that he is just a good friend. I share a fabulous bond with him. But, that doesn't imply anything. But the two of you have been spotted holding hands and dancing at parties? I have admitted to going out to parties and other places with him. Just because I'm seen dancing with someone doesn't mean that I am having an affair with him. People get this impression because both Manoj and I happen to be single and move around in the same circle. I'm single but I'm open to the idea of meeting Mr Right. * Manoj and I have been going out together. I enjoy his company. We get along quite well and have common interests.
