Aamna's view on the cover story of this month's GR8
"Does Sex Really Sells?"
No I don't think sex sells on Indian Television. It will take time. And the shows are doing well without it anyways. I have set certain rules and limits for myself. I think you should prove yourself as. an actress first rather than being a sex symbol. Lead heroines need to have some kind of innocence in them when they start out. If you have the 'take me to bed look' a normal person would never be able to relate to the character. . It's good to be called a sex symbol. People find me sexy even with the image that I have on screen. They have only seen one side of me, but even here I have experimented with my costumes and looks. I think they love - me in all my looks whether it is glam or de-glam. I too prefer all the looks. The sati savitri image on television does last but I don't think it would've lasted in films. Television people start accepting you as they see you. As a viewer I would like to see the actresses change their image once in a while. I have been getting offers for different roles with new looks. The reason I haven't taken up something is because it has to be different. I now have a very strong image, and to break that is a major challenge. I don't know when I will be taking up something else but whatever I take up next is going to be something glamorous. I never plan anything. If you are sincere to your work you will go places. The wildest compliment that I got was when once Rajiv and I had gone for a show and this guy walked up to me and said that "Kashish you are too sexy." I think he meant it in a good way. There are a lot of talented people On Television who can achieve what Malika Sherawat has. I don't watch Television so I can't name anybody, but I wouldn't do anything like her. I have to be comfortable with the camera like her, which I won't be. I would never want to end up looking like a stupid useless woman in front of the camera. GR8! I JULY 05 |
