Innitially he did many documentaries on social issues and even directed a serial Samarpan on and in Kashmir while in Delhi. He comes from an Army background, since his father and brother are both in the Army So making a serial on the Army fascinated him. He even shot a pilot for Star Plus that was rejected and that resulted in a huge loss.
He had to sell his car to come down to Mumbai. He was then told by friends to try his hand at modelling. Initially he failed at auditions until he got his first small ad for Crystal Combs. He then began to get many ads and was financially comfortable once again. One of the famous adds that he did was the add for LML, Gilbeys, Kodak Express, Good Knight.
But after coming back to Mumbai, Balaji offered him the role in Kya Haadsa Kya Haqeeqat, which he initially rejected. Eventually he agreed to do the role and never regretted it. He played Raj in the first episode of Kya Haadsa Kya Haqeeqat, which made him popular. He also bagged the role of Sujal Grewal in Kahiin To Hoga. And after that the journey everyone knows. He got the award for Best debutant and Best jodi (with Aamna Shariff) in the Indian telly Awards.
