Enough Is Enough For Gurpreet 'sujal' Singh!
"I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT AAMNA SHARIFF"
THE CURRENT SUJAL FROM KAHIIN TO HOGA IS MAKING HEADLINES AS USUAL. AND NO, THIS TIME IT'S GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PREVIOUS SUJAL, RAJEEV KHANDELWAL. THE REAL REASON IS THE HORDE OF MISUNDERSTANDINGS THAT JUST WON'T LET GURPREET BE! IN THIS INTERVIEW WITH SHOWTIME, HE DISMISSES ALL THE VILE NEWS ABOUT THE SONY CONTROVERSY, HIS OBSESSIVE LOVE FOR BALAJI, AND TALKS ABOUT THE WOMEN IN HIS LIFE, WIFE KANISHKA SODHI, AAMNA SHARIFF AND OF COURSE, EKTA KAPOOR.
ST: You are not new to the glamour industry but Kahiin To Hoga is your first serial and in spite of being taken on as a replacement to the original Sujal, you seems to be very happy with the show. Is it true?
GS: Kahiin To Hoga is my first serial and it is doing very well. People have accepted me as Sujal and most of them don't even remember who the earlier Sujal was.
ST: We agree the serial is doing well but isn't it true that it's going off air in January?
GS: I read some similar stuff in the newspapers a few days back, but I've not been given any official information that the serial is shutting down. I don't feel that it should because it has better TRPs than any other serial. The story is interesting, the look is fresh, and all the artistes work very well. So I think you and I can chill because the show will continue for sure.
ST: The things between you and co-star Aamna Shariff are pretty hostile?
GS: I don't want to talk about her. She's okay. Problems do happen everywhere, and between different people, so it's perfectly fine if two people are not on friendly terms.
ST: But doesn't it matter when people like Ekta Kapoor start commenting on the issue. After all, didn't she say, 'I wonder how Aamna works with Gurpreet?
GS: Ekta is a nice human being, but she should also get the right information. She's right on her side but she doesn't know what exactly happened. She misunderstood, and it's got nothing to do with the actual reality.
ST: Has this situation affected his equation with Balaji?
GS: Till date, I have had no problems with them, nor do I wish to go out of Balaji. It's a good production house, the biggest in Asia. I really enjoy working with them. I met Shobhaji (Kapoor) too and told her that I want to stick with Balaji till the end of my life. And maybe later, when I can't act anymore, I'll head towards direction or cinematography (in Balaji of course!) as I like that too. I've got so much popularity because of them. Balaji ki baat hi alag hai.
ST: What happens if after this project, you get a good offer from another production house? Won't you take it up?
GS: After this project, if I'm working with Balaji, obviously I'll say no to projects from other production houses. But if I'm not with them, then I'll probably go out of Mumbai and concentrate on modelling again.
ST: Forget serials now. Let's talk about something bigger, like the movies!
GS: If I get good offers (from anywhere), then I'll do it, but I won't leave Balaji for that. I never had any problems with Sony. I've never even stepped into the Sony building nor have I ever seen it. And all the problems you read about in the newspapers have got nothing to do with me. I've also read about the Ekta Kapoor and Sandiip Sikcand (Sony Creative director) problem but I'm nowhere involved in it.
ST: What about the newspaper report stating that you and wife Kanishka had visited the office, bitching about Balaji.
GS: That's all rubbish. Sandiip didn't take either mine or Kanishka's name in the interview. I have read the newspaper. Nowhere were our names mentioned. It was all a misunderstanding, which happens quite often in the media. If a person is taking about a man and his wife, then it's not necessary that he is talking about us. And anyway if it's like that, then I have sent Sandiip a notice for that.
ST: A notice! For what? Didn't you just say that he hadn't taken their names? Then why send him a notice?
GS: The journalist hinted at our names. It was made to look like we were the ones involved, just because they wanted to create a misunderstanding. Frankly speaking, nothing is sure. There is no confirmation from the journalist or from Mr. Sandiip Sikcand.
ST: Do You really want to be a part of Bigg Boss?
GS: Main kyun Bigg Boss ko approach karunga? I'm doing a 30-day job and for Big Boss, you need three months! I obviously wouldn't have been able to do it. Though I did get a call from the casting guys, but nothing more than that.
ST: When did You get married?
GS: I got married to Kanishka last year. We did a film together called Madhubala and during the last schedule, some situations were created due to which we realized that we were made for each other. After three months, in August, we got married. Well, I was shooting practically 24 hours. I had no time. I also cancelled my engagement three times. So we did a court marriage. It was a very simple ceremony. And that day also, I went for a shoot. In fact, the very next day, from morning 7 to 2 in the night, I was shooting continuously. I didn't have any time to arrange anything. Most of my friends don't even know that we are married. Of course our families knew that we were getting married. But it's okay. I'm happy.
ST: Newly married with a very pretty wife, and spoiling it all, in this controversy! It must feel horrible to see Kanishka's name dragged in such issues?
GS: I'm feeling very bad about it. She's a very good human being, very loving and caring. She obviously doesn't like what's happening. She complains that because of me, her name is also being dragged into this.
ST: Are you doing anything to put the rumours to rest?
GS: I don't have to do anything in this matter. Even the big stars are not spared. So if they are talking about me, then I think I'm good enough to be talked about. I really don't bother. Dheere dheere sab bhool jaate hain.
ST: What if people become hesitant to work with you because of all the false talk?
GS: For all the people who have any misconceptions or misunderstandings about me, I'll say that if you come and work with me, you'll know how I am. All these talks don't bother me because people talk about ten different persons. If somebody is directly pointing a finger at me, then I'll definitely give him an answer for that. But I can't do anything about people gossiping.
Well…ignoring the gossip is a wise step as long as the misunderstandings and misconceptions don't spoil relationships. With a bit of luck, that should hold true for Gurpreet too!
