its to a person how he wants god to be
as swami Vivekananda has said: religion is the manifestation of divinity in man
so your faith, beleifis the manifestation of your own soul, if you repect others faith, you respect yours only
adn as poorvi has said, taking from Shree Ramkrishna's tecahings: there are a lot of ways to call god, like therez a lot of routes to reach a destination, all lead to HIM only, there are as many routes as your opinions.
here we all are friends, all have a righ to voice their opinion, respect them everyone, we are all friends here irrespective of religion, belive, cast or sect

I agree wid u Tan. religion or beliefs r not problem. It's intolerance n disrespect towards other's belief that creates problem. Everyone has right to choose his way to reach HIM-- of course that way shud not cause annoyance or harm to others

Some members may get confused on reading the debate in this thread. I will make a series of posts to help them.
Puranas have various skandhs, each skandh has various adhyayas and each adhyay has various shloks.
Some translate the word "skandh" as canto and some as book.
The word "adhay" is translated as chapter and "shlok" is translated as verse.
If we refer to a.b.c of a Puran, it means we are referring to verse c of chapter b of canto a of that Puran.
Example: - 2.5.9 of Bhagavatam means 9th verse of 5th chapter of 2nd canto of Bhagavatam (short for Srimad Bhagavata Mahapurana).

In Bhagavatam 1.3.1, Suta Goswami says to Saunak and other sages that Lord was in yoga-nidra and from the lotus in the lake of his navel, lord Brahma was manifested.

Puranas clearly say that this form of Lord from whose navel's lotus, Brahma was born is a form of Lord Vishnu. Thus, Brahma was born from the navel's lotus of Lord Vishnu.

About the same form of Lord Vishnu, Suta says in 1.3.23 that as ineteenth and twentieth incarnations, he appeared as Balarama and Krishna in the dynasty of Vrishnis and removed the burden from the Earth.
Note: - The verse actually says Rama and not Balarama. Rama here may mean Parashurama or Rama (son of Dasharatha) or Balarama. But 1.3.20 says that Parashurama was 16th incarnation and 1.3.22 says that Rama (son of Dasharatha) was 18th incarnation. This means that 19th incarnation mentioned in 1.3.22 is of Lord Balarama (elder brother of Lord Krishna).

As we see above, Lord Krishna was an incarnation from that form of Lord Vishnu from whose navel's lotus, Lord Brahma was born.

In another post, I will quote from scriptures to prove that the one from whose navel's lotus Lord Brahma was born is a form of Lord Vishnu.

In Vishnu Puran 1.2.1 sage Parashar uses various epithets for Lord Vishnu. The epithets supreme and eternal are included in that list. This means that Lord Vishnu is supreme. Since he is eternal, this means that he was not created by anybody. If he was created by Krishna (or anybody else), then he could not be eternal because eternal means ever-existing.
Moreover, it is written in Vishnu Puran 5.1.23 that Lord Vishnu plucked off two hairs from his body. One hair was white and another was black. Then Lord Vishnu said to the gods, "These hairs of mine will descend upon Earth, and will free Earth of the burden of her sorrow."
In the next verse, he says that the black here would be born as the 8th conception of Devki and would kill Kans. The one who killed Kans was none other than Krishna. This means that according to Vishnu Puran, Lord Vishnu created Lord Krishna from a hair of his body.

as far as my knowledge goes, Lord K is considered a purnavatar, while otehrs are Khandit, it means lord cishnu himself came in form of lord K, and all others are incarnations of Lord K himself.
i may be wrong, but thats what i was taught

As I explained in the previous post, according to Vishnu Puran, a black hair of Lord Vishnu incarnted as Krishna. This is written in 1st chapter of 5th book of Vishnu Puran.
In the 3rd verse of the same chapter, Parashar says to Maitreya: -

maitreya shrooyataametadyatypRiSTohamiha tvayaa
viSNoraMshaaMshasaMbhooti charitaM jagato hitaM

Notice the word viSNoraMshaaMshasaMbhooti.
viSNoaMshaaMshasaMbhooti = viSnu: + aMsha + aMsha + saMbhooti
aMsha means part. The verse says aMshaaMsha i.e. aMsha + aMsha. This means part of part. viSnu: + aMsha + aMsha means part of part of Vishnu.

The translation of the complete verse is: -
"Listen, Maitrea. I will relate to you what you have requested; the birth of a part of a part of Vishnu, and the actions he performed for the welfare of the world.

After that Parashar explains about Krishna incarnation and he explains how a black hair of Vishnu incarnted as Krishna.

This means that according to Vishnu Puran, Krishna incarnated as a part of a part of Lord Vishnu.

Tan and Nisha,
In later posts, I will explain why Krishna is called as purnavatar and how that is compatible with Vishnu Puran, which calls Krishna as part of part of Lord Vishnu.
