I think the writers wanted to add excitement to the show, so they had to turn someone negative and since pranay is strongly connected to the lead character, Parvati, they have chosen him as the scapegoat.

They had a good storyline going with Pranay as a writer. They could have done so much with that track. Instead they reduced him to another Ansh-clone. How creative! 😆
